What Maisie Knew. I spent most of the time crying through it. (bloody pregnancy hormones). Was very sad though, it was kind of like watching me grow up Really brings home how important it is that parents keep their kids out of their divorces as much as possible. Very good movie, Julianne Moore was very good as was the little girl in it.

Heat. It had been a few years and I felt like I needed to rewatch it, still holds up pretty darn well I mean- DeNiro, Pacino, Val Kilmer and Natalie Portman. Hard to go wrong with that cast.

I had the same reaction. I enjoyed it, but It made me feel icky.

I was tricked into a Nicholas Sparks movie last night. Safe Haven. I thought it was something else, but I got sucked in by Julianna Hough...
I thought I was going to see a movie that came out about a year ago..I recall the trailer having a couple moving into a house and some rough fellas working on the house start stalking the woman or something...I cant remember the title, anyone know it?

Red Lights (with Sigourney Weaver, DeNiro, and that guy from 28 Days Later). It was pretty good. Got kind of silly in its serious way about halfway through, but it was entertaining. Kind of a psychological thriller.

    Zero Dark Thirty.

I thought it was good, but not Oscar good. Is it just me, or do all decent movies about Americans at war/conflict automatically get catapulted into nomination category?

Apparently so. I agree, it was entertaining, but it wasn't award-worthy.

My roommate hadn't seen either Into the Wild or Almost Famous--my 1 and 2 favorite movies--which I found unacceptable so we had a little movie night a couple nights ago and watched them!

  • Star Trek Into Darkness.

    Me too.

    ***(SPOILERS)***

Just saw it last night. Loved it. Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan is one of my favorite movies, and I liked the way they did a parallel universe version of it. It was very familiar, but at no point felt like a rehash. I think they got it right. Also seemed like elements of the other Star Trek movies were used, or hinted at. The Admiral trying to start a war with the Klingons was sort of like Star Trek VI, and there were some other things that are escaping me right now. I didn't even know going in it was going to be at all like Star Trek II, or that the bad guy was Khan. I didn't read anything about the movie before watching it, last thing I had read was before the movie came out, in which somebody had completely denied Khan was going to be in it. I thought this was just some new villain, like Nero.

Only a couple of things I didn't like. The Klingon who took off his mask looked terrible. Was his face CGI? Second, it just sort of ended. Felt rushed. One second the climactic battle is going on, then one punch later we're in the resolution. It felt like something got cut out. But it was still great I thought.
