not as good as fury road and I thought hemsworth, as good if an actor as he is - phoned it in ltoo similar to Thor. It’s probably what the director wanted.
Anna did a better job than I expected as the lead. I still love Charlene’s rendition the best. Mad max fury road is one of my favorite movies of all time. The metaphors run deep and I love that there are barely any words to the script.
How was The Eiger Sanction? I watched the trailer on YouTube, and man, old trailers are pretty funny. They’ve come a long way in how they promote a movie.

Showed the kids the original before we go out for the new one soon.
I feel like this movie on paper shouldn’t work, but it is still really good. The digital effects (combined with many practical) really hold up well for a 1996 release.
The supporting cast for the storm chasers is stacked with some fine character actors (Alan Ruck, Jamie Gertz, Jeremy Davies) and a future star in Hoffman. Also, Cary Elwes! And a sitcom star in Helen Hunt. Author Michael Crichton even produces.
And just checking the cast again, director Todd Field (Tar!) is one of the storm chasers. What? Crazy.
De Bont’s direction is great in this. Movie zips right along and balances the action with some good character beats as well.
If I remember, they won a technical Oscar for this. They created a brand new camera system to be used under a helicopter that allowed for the camera to rotate within a sphere under the nose of the helicopter. This allows for those super smooth aerial tracking shots they used to follow the trucks.
And of course, Bill Paxton. I love that guy. He was great in so many movies (and tv shows). 😔 Awesome he has the leading role in this. I highly recommend checking out A Simple Plan and Frailty with him.

Yeah the remake. Have wanted to rewatch it for years. Even subscribed to a streaming service once for it, turned out I was lied to and it was the original they had but labeled wrong.

Watched Gladiator for the first time in like 20 years. Holds up great. And I've always loved how much this guy below apparently LOVES being a slave gladiator..
Last showing of Horizon here in my hometown tonight…….
Won‘t be in cinemas here before late August for some reason…
I did however get into a little early-Costner magic recently and rewatched The Untouchables and Field Of Dreams. Next up, American Flyers. Have you seen that one?
Also last week:
Fancy Dance by Erica Trembley (quite good)
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire by Adam Wingard (what a CGI hellscape)

Wish Clint just would have done a straight mountainclimbing movie in the style of the climbing scenes. That real look and feel
