I thought my state was the only one where it is legal to drink with adults. Cops let that stuff go alot.

  • I started drinking at 8:30 and left the house at 1 am. I stopped drinking at around 12. By the time I drove I probably had like 2 beers left in me. I was FINE. I dont think a cop would just let me go if he didn't know I was fine. You guys are acting like I was completely drunk and Im a piece of shit for doing it. Im sure none of you guys ever drink or drive home buzzed

Lucky I didnt kill someone? give me a break.

you're lucky you weren't driving in New York State. 0.02, or 1 drink, is above the legal limit for anyone under 21. You would have lost your license to drive, which is very much a privilege, and in no way a right, until either your 21st birthday, or a couple years, whichever comes last. I have a nehew who's almost 19. He's been in 3 wrecks, not all his fault, but a heads-up driver would have avoided each collision. Today, on his way home from visiting friends at the college he flunked out oflast year, he got puled over doing 85. Good thing for him his dad's a NYC Lieutanant, or he would have added a healthy ticket to his alrwady awful driving record
  • Damn, Im posting up the ass today.

Yea I do regret it. I didnt think people would be so negative about it. But atleast it is helping me learn I guess. Thanks

you'd be surprised how many people have lost someone they know and loved to an idiot drunken driver

I feel where you're coming from, though. I have driven drunk more times than I can remember.

For some unknown reason, I was never caught and was never involved in an accident because of it. I like to think it's because I have a high midichlorian count, and that a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I had Jedi ancestors, whose genes allow me to drive while intoxicated.

There was this time when my friends I had rented a weekend beach house in baja mexico and had gone into town to go bar hopping on good old avenue revolucion.

I was so drunk that I could barely see past my nose, yet my friends didn't mind the idea of my driving them back on those crazy mexican highways which are probably among the deadliest in the world. About halfway there, I pulled over and said, "I am way too drunk. One of you guys have to drive."

And there was that time I almost lost control of my car while on an overpass. I guess you could say that was a close one.

Also, I was once so loaded on opiates while driving that I was drifting in and out of consciousness as I tried to keep the steering wheel straight enough to just be able to stay within the lane, let alone be mindful of other cars.

So, I'm not one to pass judgment on the OP. I've been there, and I admit that I must have rocks for brains to be making those kinds of decisions.

On a lighter note, I did quit drinking.

If thats what a wrecked 944 looks like, then that should be enough motivation to not drink/drive.

  • I was at my cousins friends house earlier and I had 5 beers and two shots, Im 19.

So I was driving home, completely ignore a flashing red light while a cop happens to be passing me. FUCK. So I get pulled over. He asks me for my license/registration. Done. He then asks me how much I had to drink (greeaat) I tell him 2 beers. I had to be honest...sort of. He tells me to recite the alphabet and coutdown from 100-76(odd). I do it fine, he then goes back to his car and comes back saying "Im going to assume you had those beers under adult supervision and since you are 20 (even though im 19) I am just going to assume you were being careless. I hope you learned from this, Im going to give you a failure to yield."

This is the second time I got let off for drinking/driving underage. And for the record I WAS fine, and I always drive home ok to drive. Why did I run a flashing red? I was blasting My Morning Jacket, too into the music.

Somehow I still feel like crap though, my dads kinda pissed even though I only told him about the failure to yield. I get let off basically, shouldn't I be glad?

they should have put you in jail the first time. fucking stupid, kid. stupid. stupid. stupid. don't do this again, or you will "still feel like crap" when someone dies because of you. never get behind the wheel if you've had a drink.

    fucking stupid.

i can't believe you are arguing here. after reading your initial post, if everyone didn't let you have it, you're lucky. you have a lot of growing up to do for a 19 year old. a lot. you have a lot to learn about life, it seems.

even if you aren't "completely drunk", you ARE a piece of shit for getting behind the wheel. you ARE lucky you didn't kill someone, because that life is gone and yours would be ruined...over what? being stupid.

there have been a lot of terrible things we have all seen posted in the pit, but this might be one of the worst. the are a lot of people who have been killed or injured for life thanks to "nice guys" like you.

My best friend was killed in a car accident when we were 16.

The driver of the car was drunk.

The car was going so fast, when it hit the tree, it split the car in two, and ended up 50m apart.

    Dont drink and drive.

Sorry if my maths are wrong, but 5 pints and 2 shots? That's around 12 units.
For an average person it takes an hour for 1 unit of alcohol to leave the system.
So at 1am, you'd have been way over the drink drive limit!

    Hope you learn you lesson.

  • Be glad you didn't fucking kill someone.

    Amen.

OP - you were fucking stupid and shouldn't do it again (you were probably told that after the first time though, right? ). Enough people die on the roads and leave people behind, dealing with the loss, without YOUR stupidity adding to the numbers.

I'm not going to say don't drink, 'cos you'll do it anyway :p, but don't get behind the wheel afterwards dude.
Even one beer is one too many to drive after. Be selfish, and think about how you'd feel if you hurt yourself or anyone else. Those kind of scars don't heal.

And you must have known you were gonna get flamed for posting it here. And justifiably so. I hope peoples reactions will help you think twice before doing it again. Remember, getting ripped apart on a message board is easier than jail :)

He should have given you a DWI. Quit drinking and driving. NExt time, it could be an innocent family that you hit while going through the flashing red light, killing a baby, or a mother, or a father.

Don't be so stupid. 5 beers and two shots, and you are ok? Damn, the cop really should have written you up and taken you to jail.

    It's true.

We only blast people for posting stuff like this because we care. About you and others around you.

I lost a very good friend to a car accident (granted, no drink was involved) and it still hurts to this day. We just don't want a jammer to do the same thing to someone else or to total themselves... hence my point that there is enough carnage on the road without people drink driving and thinking they'll be ok.

Please, please think before you act.

You weren't called a piece of shit. You need to read both parts of that sentence. You are a POS for getting behind the wheel. Harsh words, but true. Anyone is a POS for driving drunk.

You seem to be posting looking for validation of your actions which you KNOW were stupid and wrong. Hey, you got away with it. Great. We all have at some point. Some day you might not. Or worse yet, some day someone else will pay the consequences for your actions. I was underage and invincible once, too. I am glad nothing bad happened. Take a good look at your actions and ask yourself if it is really worth it to do that sort of stuff.

I'm sorry man, but there's nothing you can say here that is going to "win" the argument in your favor. What you did was dumb, you got away with it, and then for some reason you posted here. You deserve what others are saying to/about you. You can't post, saying you got away with drunk driving, and expect people to hi-5 you. I mean, c'mon man...

for getting behind the wheel after drinking? absolutely. i have said the same thing to friends of mine. they are a piece of shit if they get behind the wheel if they had a drink.

you said you felt like crap, and well you should.

the fact that you are arguing with people makes me feel like this is a joke for you...posting the story. did you just make it up to get a rise out of people and then argue with them? i hope you did, because not knowing better than to not drink and drive is inexcusable.

Of course.... but the thing is about teenagers, is that they don't like listening to people who say "your a piece of shit for this" or "idiot" or "fucking dumbass". Kids don't lsten to people who give advice like that. You dont have to call someone a stupid piece of shit or whatever to get your point across. I listen when people are calm about things.

you'd be surprised how many of them would have extra respect for you for not drinking and . People often think something's just normal... but people usually do it just cos of peer pressure.

Like I said though, if that cop had been to the scene of an accident cos of drink, he could have really had it in for you. There are plenty of reasons not to do it, that's just one ofthem

a 19 year old driving a Porsche? ...sounds like a lot of people have it worse than you do

I guess my point is that even on ONE drink, your body just relaxes and you lose the sharpness that you would have sober. Even if you're not at fault for an accident, you could just get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. That could be another car that you dont notice hitting you, or getting hit when going round a bend , or running a red light.

It's incredibly easy to fuck everything up for yourself by doing it. Im 23, not much older than you. I did bad things on booze too, but I would never tolerate anyone saying drink driving was ok, regardless of how many people do it. Funny thing is the only people i knew who did that were my age are now dead.

They were nice guys too you know.
  • saturnal- I hang out with car guys. I own a Porsche (a pretty slow 4 cylinder 944) But still, its a porsche. I like cars, Im a guy. The only time I street race is when Im around them. I NEVER pick races when I'm alone. I dont even like street racing honestly. I have probably raced (only my freinds, never any strangers) 5 times after driving for 2 years.
I know I sound like a total old grump, but it's just a bad idea to drive after having that much alcohol, man (even if it was over a long period of time). If you like cars, you don't wanna lose your license to drive em...that right there should be enough reason not to drive drunk and risk gettin' a DUI or crashing yer 944 (which is a tasty ride btw).

And now I'm gonna sound REALLY old and grumpin', but street racing is for idiots, dewd. Get some friends who can introduce you to somethin' that's constructive and good for ya.
