This board can be like a sounding board, ya know? I was just answering the question so I broke it down into the experiences the question made me think about. I seriosly don't give a shit what anyone/ anywhere on the internet thinks. I am shallow when it comes to girls' looks, but that doesn't seem out of the ordinary.

not out of the ordinary at all. i agree 100%. i don't know when it became such a sin to admire and appreciate beautiful women. it's like grade schools handing out medals to everyone and refusing to have winners in races because it will make someone feel bad. don't admit you like hot women because it might make some of the rest feel inadequate. welcome to life.

Guys and girls can be friends without sex getting in the way. I know this is true 'cos I have some good male friends. Maybe I'm just not 'hot' enough for them to want to have sex with me, but if thats the case then thats ok. It makes things a lot less complicated all round.

If you 'click' with someone then it just works, regardless of gender.

My best friend for more than 15 years is a chick and we have never really had any issues. She introduced me to my wife and was the best "woman" at my wedding...so it is possible!

it's all good and nice, but lets not forget people that at the end of the day men and women are meant to procreate therefore there will always be this debate.

hey, if i hadn't had problems in finding women who liked me i probably wouldn't even be friends with guys, thus avoiding uncomfortable situations, and having to explain myself as to why i don't want to fuck that particular guy and only want to be friends with him.

haha no i haven't responded to this thread at all since it was started. i just sat back and read everyone's responses, it was really entertaining. But, i should probably explain myself to why i made this thread. two nights ago i got back with my boyfriend, and i told the two guys that liked me what happened, and i can only talk to them if they will accept me as a friend and nothing more. but they insisted on telling me that they fell inlove with me and all this nonsence. anyways.... it turns out i made two guys cry in one night, it was epic. so it turns out that i had to stay up all night with one of the guys on the phone, because he was drinking his problems away. so thats when the question came to mind, what is wrong with guys and girls just being friends and nothing more.

and i appreciated everyones responses. :)

if you've only been with those guys for a short period of time and only as their friend, then the guy who started crying should fucking grow some balls!

I think many guys get shit from their friends with locker room mentality to make any relationship more. So it definitely comes down to a maturity issue at the end of the day. As I get older friendships are definitely more valuable in the long run. But as long as you can separate the two, then it's possible to maintain a friendship with occasional sex, though rarely, it is possible.

I can't believe I read this whole thread, but anyways...

I think they can, but it depends on the maturity of the people involved. I think in high school its pretty hard, especially with the peer pressure to get laid. I was really good friends with a buddy's girlfriend, who I landed up falling head over heels for after they broke up, and it never amounted to anything, and we stopped being friends for one reason or another. We were great friends and used to hang out all the time and go to the gym after school. I still wonder what could have been, or if our friendship could have lasted longer.

On the flip side, my girlfriend who I have been with for almost 7 years was my friend first and it landed up going to another level. Also I have girl friends who I might have been attracted to at first, and then we just became really good friends, for instance I have a girl friend who is really into sports, she loves football and baseball, so she was really easy to relate to and it turned into more of a brother/sister relationship.

There are so many factors to which path your relationship goes down, I think it really depends on the people involved, or at least from my experience that is how I see it.

Here I am quoting you again D2D. I have quite a few male friends, one in particular I counted as my best friend. I am happily married and have been for a long long time. I think that maybe male/female relationships are kind of like soul mates in that they few and far between. But, when they happen they are special. I also think that age/maturity does play a part. :)

i saw this thread and just laughed.
    easy answer..friends don't have sex.
sooo many times i've told a girl, "that guy is not your friend. he likes you". i was told i'm narrow minded..now boom they're dating.
no but seriously we can be just friends
  • A guy can be friends with a girl - if he's gay.

Otherwise, it's extremely rare for any dude witha pulse and a penis to actually be "friends"
with a girl and not be thinking of playing slap & tickle, hide the pickle with her.
