in any case, i think rodriguez is going to have some tough years ahead. michigan was not recruiting for a spread offense, and no matter how much athletic talent they've got, it's going to be a switch that takes time.

now, back to me hating on the worthless boilermakers. i cannot wait to see them humiliated in the horseshoe.

Yeah, I agree. I don't see Michigan competing for a conference title until 2010 at the earliest. QB is so vital to the success of that offense, and they just don't have it right now. But according to Rivals, they have 2 of the top 10 dual-threat QBs committed for next year, so it looks like Rodriguez's recruiting has begun. I still think that with the talent they have and playing in the Big Ten, that bowl streak should stay alive.

And yeah, Purdue sucks. Isn't it Tiller's last year? That program is on the decline.

Yeah, I was "sold" on it when I was drinking in the bars, as a high school senior, during Siblings Weekend. :D

Edit: SI Power Ranking = 107  It's a "smart" school, not a football school! :D

  • I just got back from Gainesville late last night, and that place was fuckin crazy all weekend. The UM-UF rivalry needs to be reignited, because I have never seen college football fans like this, I can imagine its how the UM-OSU rivalry is (though Miami-FSU is pretty close). There were 90,000 at the game (based on what I read in the paper) and you couldn't hear anything for the entire game. I tried to get to the College Gameday bus, but didn't get there in time, but I did get to meet Ivan Maisel (of the ESPN College Football podcast) at the bookstore, so I was excited about that.

Overall, Miami put up a tough first half, I was very nervous. They blitzed the entire time, but their offense couldnt make it downfield to capitalize. Second half was all Gators, baby! Tebow comes out guns blazing, Percy Harvin scores in his return to the team. Miami just fell apart and had some stupid penalties.

Bring on the Volunteers next! Fuck Rocky Top!

I heard a joke today on the Dan Patrick show...

What does Notre Dame and marijuana have in common?

they both get smoked in the bowls.

I gave up on the college football season on September 4 at approximately 11:30pm.
  • Huge game for us this weekend...and our qb needs to take his head out of his rear and just play. UVA smoked us last year...need to return the favor.
I love to turn you on

Not that I like USC any better, but I hope they crush Ohio State Saturday. That way they are out of the picture and we can see USC and who ever wins the SEC play for the title in January. And I hope Michigan pounds Notre Dame too.

i am a huge osu fan, but i suspect you may get your wish. the way they played last weekend... ugly. chris wells is back, but no telling how healthy he is. boeckman is shit as a quarterback. their whole team looked overpowered by fucking Ohio U! this one could be worse than the stomping they took from florida 2 years ago :(
    and like that... he's gone.

Well, that was fucking close. We almost lost to Purdue.

Now it looks like we're down to our 3rd and 4th QB's. It could get ugly soon.

i was rooting so hard for the ducks. i loathe purdue so much. that game could only have ended better if they had shown a close up my ex crying in the stands after oregon finally won it :)

then osu played. i thought it might be bad, but that was the worst game i have ever seen ohio state play. they were outclassed all day long. i've been a supporter of tressel for years, but i don't know about this game. todd boeckman is the worst quarterback i've seen since bellisari, and even he managed to win a big game here and there. they at least looked semi-competitive when pryor was in, but they wouldn't play him more than a down here and there and eventually it became clear to usc that when he was in, they were running. watching boeckman try to scramble is like watch a slow motion replay of a train wreck. he never stood a chance.

and the lack of wells hurt. i dont know how bad he's injured, but if he wanted to play, perhaps they should have let him. with a healthy wells, i guarantee they scored those first 2 drives, and that's a whole different game. probably not enough, but at least enough to show they were competitive.

as it was, they just looked pathetically sloppy. a play that gets them within the 5 yard line called back. the next play is a touchdown pass, called back for holding. the next drive another boeckman lame duck (TM) interception. this offense is pathetic and this week it became transparent that wells is the only thing making this time win. boeckman can't do shit. i'll bet a fortune he doesn't finish this season as a starter. he has choked any time they had to play under pressure, or in a big game, or anything else.

usc sure answered any doubters though. i pity whoever plays them in the national championship. i hope they destroy an sec team.
    and like that... he's gone.
