yea but i remember hearing his last year ballooned up to 17m. i think he made 14 m last year and less the year's before that. so the average very well could be in the 16m range

That's why paying Holliday a deal that averages 20-22 mil makes sense. It's only 5-6 mil more and you're getting a far superior player. But of course brown nose Amaro when he takes over will do exactly what the Montgomery tell him to do. BS.

    Burrell's career salary:
    1998 $750,000 1999 $750,000 2000 $800,000 2001 $1,275,000 2002 $1,275,000 2003 $1,250,000 2004 $4,250,000 2005 $7,250,000 2006 $9,750,000 2007 $13,250,000 2008 $14,250,000

Notice how he didn't make any big money until year 2 (2004) of the 6 year $50 mil deal.

I'm not saying Howard doesn't deserve what he gets but there is a system in baseball for players who don't have years of service built up and Howard wants to totally disregard that and his utter incompetance as a fielder.

The GM can only spend the money that ownership wants him to spend... or else he's out of a job and will never work for any team again.

And Burrell's deal only averaged $8.33 mil / year

Well whatever, he's getting 14.25 this year. Again 6 more mil for Holliday only makes sense. Especially when you've made the most money since opening the new ballpark and one of your owners is now a billionaire.

7 in a row.. Florida is hot, going to be a tough weekend, but Brett should get us started off right!

Hopefully the Mets struggles against Atlanta continue.

    Go Phils!!

  • you are insane. realistically, if he were on the open market, he'd be making 18-20M per season. 10M is a fucking bargain for one of the most prolific home run hitters EVER at this point in his career. fucking pat burrell makes 17M this year!

no need to question my sanity, I have a right to my opinion. And what you said doesn't change it one bit.

and remember, I do believe we are all looking for the same outcome, yes - a world series championship, so can we have an adult discussion without insulting each other?

The matchups right now would be Cubs vs NYM, and we would play LA... I believe.

Yeah, it sucks that they lost the tiebreaker to the Mets.

Though I think 4 of 6 is all they'll need. I don't see the Mets going 6-1 down the stretch.

ok here are the upcoming pitchers this week

    Tonight- Happ vs Jurrjens
    Tomorrow- Hamels vs Hampton
    Wednesday- Myers vs Reyes

    Friday-Blanton vs Lannan
    Saturday- Moyer vs Perez
    Sunday- Happ vs Martis

Happ twice in the next 6 games...heres where the kids shows if hes going to make it into the rotation next year. Myers will bounce back after that terrible Marlins loss and Hamels and Moyer will win and hopefully Blanton is solid one more time.

Social awareness does not equal political activism!

5/23/2011- An utter embarrassment... ticketing failures too many to list.

only need to get it... doesn't matter whether you win the division or get in as a wildcard.

You actually have better odds at making the World Series as a WC than a division champ this decade.

There have been 14 WC teams since 2001. 7 have made the WS and 3 have won.

There have been 42 Division Champs since 2001. 7 have made the WS and 4 have won.
