Is Saturday's game sold out? I wanna figure what game to get tix to, Friday or Saturday, when they hopefully clinch the division.

I honestly think they may clinch the division on Thurs on their off day. But Friday might be a better bet.

Yeah, and if they did, we wouldn't even be in this race.

As I said in the Eagles thread - I don't wanna put the kibosh on anything, but how great would it be if the Philly teams just went on a tear this year and the Phils, Eagles, Flyers, and Sixers take each championship?? It's not that crazy of a scenario if ya think about it either. Each team has made themselves a contender in one way or another. I don't think I'd watch sports ever again and just live with that in my head the rest of my life.

The Phils have won 10 of 11, have a Magic No. of 3 to clinch a postseason spot and a Magic No. of 4 to win the NL East for the second straight season. They are an astounding 14-2 (I'm astounded!) against the Braves. Chipper can't recall when the Phils bought the Braves from Ted Turner, 'cause it sure seems like they own 'em. This does seem like a little bit of redemption for the 14+ years of NL East dominance that we had to endure of the Braves. I think this is the Braves worst season since 90 or 91... long overdue.

Can someone please explain why they didn't have Victorino bunt Burrell over to 3rd base in the 6th inning? I understand Hampton is a sinker baller, but with no outs, you got to get the tying run to 3rd.

Because Manuel will never ask a player to sacrifice bunt when he feels they are on a hot streak. He believes too much in his players sometimes to follow baseball logic in a close game.

Entering last night's game, Victorino has been the hottest hitter on the Phils in September .351/.390/.532 so Charlie was rolling the dice that he would come through there with a hit.

I can understand that logic, and sure if he gets a hit then we're not not even complaining. Part of the blame does go to Burrell for trying to go to 3rd too.

This is true. And not saying I don't want the bases loaded, but even if Shane got a hit I don't think Burrell is making it from second to home unless it's a double anyway. He definitely should've bunted - that's how you manufacture those small runs. Charlie is definitely a "player's manager", whatever that is, to a fault.

I think all of the blame goes on Burrell. Why he is trying to go 2nd to 3rd on a groundball to SS is beyond me.

He got booed pretty hard for that last night.

I agree but Burrell is also trying to make a play... which if Victorino was bunting, he wouldn't have had to do. I actually was alittle surprised that Golson wasn't brought in to run for Burrell at that point, since it was late in the game with the Phils only down by one.

My question is after Burrell makes the last out in the 8th why doesn't Manuel pull him for defense to minimize a chance for an extra base hit in the 9th.

Also why didn't Manuel pinch hit for Ruiz in the 9th? You have three catchers on the roster. Your slowest batter should never bat with a man on first and one out in the 9th unless he's an excellent hitter.

You don't want to pull Burrell out in the 6th. That's too early. He's assured of another at bat.

He just should have gotten his head out of his ass and not tried to go to third on a groundball right in front of him.

That's how fucking quick this shit can turn....Let's go Cubbies/Marlins!! If they lose tonight and tomorrow, we can lock it up tomorrow with a win - that's if any of these teams even get to play these next few days.

    This is crazy

If it weren't for the Mets not being able to score with no outs and a man on 3rd...we'd be in trouble

Why do they do this shit to us ????

Yeah, they left a man on 3rd base in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th innings last night. The Phils got lucky, but I'll take it. :)
