Your lack of empathy is astounding.
that guy wasn't just starting, that's his usual routine, and he claimed in other threads that he was in good shape. I don't care one way or the other what people do for their own workouts, that's completely up to them, but the point is, don't make a big deal out of it when someone is doing less than their potential. It takes away from the people who are really trying and challenging themselves and making progress, etc.

Potential? Who decides potential? I thought the only ones that cared about potential were mlb scouts. Of course, they pay for it. Have you decided to switch careers?

it was based on other knowledge of the poster from other threads. You can tell people's general potential. Pretty much any able-bodied young person can do just about anything. Personally, I think that if I can haul ass for 8 miles while carrying over 200 lbs of fat on little tiny legs, a healthy young man who claims to be in shape should be able to do much more than that. Whether he choses to or not is his call, that's not my issue. Some people don't want to spend the time, some people are just lazy. whatever.
the point is don't laud able-bodied people for just for getting *some* exercise. Everyone should be getting *some* exercise.
I hit the weights M W & F this week. I've been very consistent in doing this for the last year (with a six month break before that and then another solid year), so consider this a blanket statement if I don't post each day.
Today:
Together in a circuit:
Flat bench press, 3x10, 185 lbs
Dumbbell front lunges, 3x10, 25lbs each hand
Standing calf raises, 3x12, 320 lbs
Individually with 60 seconds between each set:
Dumbbell military press - 3x10, declining weight each set @40, 35, & 30lbs
Barbell bent-over rows - 3x10, 85lbs
Standing Tricep Pushdowns - 3x10, 120lbs
Standing barbell curls - 3x10, 45lbs
Iso Lat Pulldown - 3x10, 110lbs
Have a good weekend all!
Steve, get back in there next week when you're feeling better!
now you're just making excuses. get out there and run in the shit weather. you'll feel better for it.
Well I still work out in the gym, I just don't do long outdoor runs. I'm not making excuses because I would rather have a day of running than go to the gym every single day. there's only a few types of weather I don't run in:
-really heavy rain
-ICE
-above 80
-below 25
after today, I just want to skip the gym and get loaded tonight...
I'm sure I won't though.
I have been pretty healthy all week, I only worked out on Monday, I also have not been into it this week but if I eat real healthy I am okay with it. Tonight I felt like being a pig so my daughter and i had Pizza, Fries and cookies . And.....I am killing a Bottle of wine alone. The wife is taking her staff to dinner.
Drink up baby!
Get em a Body Bag Yeeeeeaaaaa!
Sweep the Leg Johnny.
are you kidding? that's the easiest workout I've ever seen in my life...running for 10 minutes??? I'm not trying to look down on anyone's workouts but don't make a nothing workout out to be something great.
I minimally run ten minutes.. 9 minutes is recommended to keep your lungs in running shape. I ran yesterday for 40 minutes for the first time in months with no problems. 10 minutes as a minimum is sufficiant for me to stay in shape. The longest I've run is 10 miles. I did that with nothing more than 10 minutes daily practice. I finished with no problem in 85 degree weather. It took me 1 hr 15 minutes.
For me anything more than 10 minutes is just burning extra calories. I'm only running just to keep my heart muscle strong.. I don't need to burn any calories. I'm already thin.

yeah as I said, if you only want that level of exercise, that's fine.

I actually felt really sick by the time I got home- bad heart burn and a head ache (probably due to my wonderful boss). So I'll be neither drinking nor working out. I'm just waiting for it to be late enough to feasibly go to sleep!
ugh crap workout today. I went to the gym to do 30 minutes of cardio and lower body. I get there and it's PACKED but I'm not really too worried, so I get a treadmill and run for 30 minutes. I get off to go lift...the place is just a zoo, I know I'm not going to be able to get anything useful done. So I wait a while for a cardio machine of some kind to open up, and I ended up doing 30 minutes on the elliptical. Then I did deadlifts, but they didn't seem right for some reason. I think I felt too boxed in and couldn't move freely enough. I wanted to get the hell out of there, so I came home to do a new ab video I got...what a disaster. It was all pilates-like stuff. Am I the only one who can't do this pilates stuff? I never have a clue what they are talking about! (also, the rug hurts!!!)
so work out...did not go well...1 hour of cardio, some deadlifts, and some failed attempts at some pilates moves.
I teared up just watching the preview, and it looks like it's not showing anymore. It's inspiring to watch lives like that.

i haven't seen it but i think that's the one they showed around the country at the same time a month or so back? they had one viewing in a whole bunch of different theaters? i think that's the one...
Slacker today.
No running or Jump Rope
Five, one minute full speed rounds on heavy bag.
Three rounds on Speed bag.
12 Dips, three times.
Stand up one arm chest press.
Started to workout arms but got distracted.
Lazy ass. Lazy ass. Lazy ass.
I gotta workout in the AM. Ususally i do it when my daughter goes down for a nap but I gotta to in in the AM. Knock it out quick I say.
Get em a Body Bag Yeeeeeaaaaa!
Sweep the Leg Johnny.
I get my lift in at lunchtime (I eat later while working). It's great. It's convenient, doesn't affect my time outside of work hours, and elevates my mood & energy for the 2nd half of the day. If you can do this, then I strongly recommend it.

fanch do you lift before running/aerobic or lift after?

In warmer weather I do (I run - everything else bores me so I go with what I know I'll do consistantly), but I have slacked on the cardio since summer 2006.
I do circuits/minimal rest period during lifting, so I get some cardio in while lifting through that. My heart rate is up during much of it. It's not enough to replace a great cardio workout like running, though.
When it warms, I'll take the dog running and get the cardio piece I'm missing. I'm good on the lifting and decent on the diet.....on that alone, I'm down to 167lbs, and I'm 6' tall.

I'm going to start taking my medication again. despite the side effects it DOES make me never want to eat.
Me Too, I gained 6 pounds last week :( I enjoyed every pound of it though.
