Well that's the difference between you and me. I DO value the life of rats, snakes and scorpions as I do cuddly puppies and humans. I must be crazy. I go out of my way to not needlessly kill bugs, and even let unwanted spiders outside rather than killing them.

Apparently your judgement of worthy life is whether or not it can 'produce' something worthwhile to society. Then how about mentally or physically handicapped people who can't function in society? Are they then worth less than those who can? If you know anything about ecology, then you would know that all animals are vital in one way or another to the earth's ecosystem which directly or indirectly impacts our survival. I would call that a pretty damn important 'job'.

You can hold onto your human superiority, center of the universe complex, but I prefer the non-neanderthal approach.

I get what you are saying. But it's not true. You do put humans above animals, it's only natural that you do and it certainly isn't something to be ashamed of. Every sane, normal human being does it.
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

I value all life equally. That statement does not in any way suggest at what level life is valued. It could mean it is all worthless or it is all sacred. My point was that I don't have this ridiculous notion that ants are more important than sharks or people are more important than hummingbirds. I'm talking on a large, global scale. Again, individual cases are different. This person to me, because of their actions, is near worthless to me. He is absolutely below a slug to me.

You're splitting hairs while trying to speak in absolutes. How can all life be valued equally but then be taken on a case-to-case basis? If it's all worthless, then who gives a shit about a puppy. If it's all sacred, you can't wish for this fucked-up kid to get killed. You can't have it both ways. If it's all a case-to-case basis, if it's all relative, then it's acceptable for people to make their own judgements about the value of an animal's life to a human's life. You're starting to make my point for me. It's only taken five pages of arguing back-and-forth to get here.

    i wanna see this
  • This is the kinda behavior exhibited by sociopaths. Can't wait till this guy gets home and starts having fun torturing the neighborhood children.
  • I saw this on cnn. I became violently ill and let out a similar yelping sound that the innocent puppy made. Only mine resonated within my body and mind, which grew into a session of overwhelming tears and questioning of how could a human being be capable of such disregard for life.
I am shaken to my core. This is a person who is "protecting" me and my fellow citizens. Thanks, but no thanks. He is despicable.
I know there are far worse things that people do to one another, most of which i have been absorbing/suppressing, but I have not seen them with my own eyes. This was the first evidence of pure evil I have witnessed for myself.
To see the soul-less smiling marine wind up as if he were throwing someone out at home plate from the center field wall was extremely disturbing. That puppy's yelps of PURE FEAR will haunt me. I will love my dog and all of the helpless creatures even more and pray for anyone who could even consider a deplorable act such as this.

I think it's a pretty obvious attempt at smearing the thousands of U.S. soldiers who would never do something like that because someone has a bone to pick with our boneheaded involvement in Iraq.

And where did you pick that shit up?

Same guy, same post, only this one was in A Moving Train and was called "Video of our brave soldiers."

Obviously what that soldier did was disgusting, but to lump in the thousands of others who are serving in the military with this shit is a smear.

Im not smearing anybody. I put the link on here. Thats somebody elses video. I dont care who did it, its fucking discusting! For a Marine to do something like that is fucked up. But I dont care if it ruins this guys life. I really hope it does. They are dumb fuck rednecks and I dont care about them. People feel so sorry for them. They signed up for the job. A soldiers job is to fight in war and die. They are not "heros" thats just a sugar coated word we use for murders.

Puh-leeeze. The only reason any gives a shit is because it was a cuddly, little puppy. If it would have been a rat or a snake or a scorpion, nobody would be crying. And yes, you're right, I DO value human life over that of an animal. I eat meat; I wear leather; I step on bugs; and, I'm totally OK with it. When a dog can create art, cure diseases, or do any of the hundreds, if not thousands, of things a person can do, then I'll go ahead and give them equal footing with humans. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think cruelly offing animals for no good reason is cool. It's fucking disgusting. But, don't give me this "valuing all life" stuff. Human life is more valuable than the life of a dog, even if all life has something that makes it worth respecting.

you are so arrogant, your life is only valuable in your eyes. however on this whole earth we all have equal value in life, trees, birds, humans and animals.

it's really sad for me to see that because people think they can think and communicate using more advanced language, and have creativity they regard themselves as higher beings. don't forget human = animal.

i'd be disgusted whatever creature it was, one exception to this is - if i knew that creature could hurt me, be it human, animal or bird than i wouldn't care about it's life as much.

I'm done with this silly argument. Believe whatever you want. I just hope you have fun living in a cave so you don't murder any trees for lumber. I live in the real world, not Bear City.

as i said on the MT thread ...

people should see *in the valley of elah* ... and what is being discussed these days about what is "ok" here vs. over "there" ...

the kids we are sending over there are getting fucked up big time ... they aren't right ... not to say this is acceptable behaviour - but the bigger picture is the shit these kids are going thru and the total lack of support for them there or at home ...

I dont value the life of a puppy over the life of a human, the other way round in fact. I still see no reason why someone should do such a cruel thing as to throw one over a cliff, its sick as fuck and totally needless.

One of my earliest memories from when i was a very young kid was of coming out of a pub with my dad and his friend to see a really drunk guy holding a cat by its neck over the edge of a bridge into a river. My dad's friend said if you throw the cat in you are going over after it. The guy dropped it and my dad's friend picked him up and dropped him over the side.
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.
