Someone on this thread or the yanks thread was bitching that baseball has more than 2 teams

    no it doesn't

When the Red Sox's 11-2 win over the Indians ended at 11:45 p.m. on Sunday night,86 percent of homes with the TV on -- were tuned in.

I missed out on ALL the Red Sox histronics in the last couple of days. Took a 5 day work trip to Palm Beach, FL and now I hear Tim Wakefield won't be pitching in the World Series.

Here's the link from the Boston Globe...Tim Wakefield is left off Series roster.

I like the pre-game moves so far so.....Let's go Sox!

It makes sense. He's hurt so he can't relieve and knuckleballs don't break in the thin air that well so he wouldn't do well as a starter. 0-2 with a 9.31 era in Colorado in 2 career starts.

Plus when you carry Gagne, you already are one player short.

They should add Tavarez to the roster who has a good pitching history in Colorado, 4-2 with a 4.43 era in 89 career innings.

I'm thinking Tavarez gets the call in game 4 ... he had a pretty huge ground ball / fly ball split this year (like 54% of balls put in play, were ground balls), something certainly needed in Colorado ... Tavarez to start with Lester on deck.

Schilling or Dice K in game two? Schilling is much better at home, but Dice K's plethora of pitches may not fair well in the thin air ...

I don't think it matters where Schill pitches. Dice K even though he is 8-4 at home and 7-8 on the road is statistically better on the road.

He had a 4.86 era and batters hit .266 at home against him. He had a 4.02 era and and batters hit .230 against him on the road.

So I'm sticking with Schilling in Game 2 and Dice K in Game 3.

What worries me most about Dice K is the third time through the roder. the first 2 times through batters hit .234 off him. They hit .270 off him with a much higher OPS the third time through.

I think the Rockies announced Morales was going to the pen and that Aaron Cook was going to be activated to pitch game 4 against Lester, which ought to be interesting because Cook hasn't pitched since August 10th.

yeah, saw that tonight ... Cook in ... doesn't strike out a lot ... doesn't walk a lot ... doesn't give up a lot of HRs ... but an ERA 2 runs higher at home then on the road ...

held the Sox to 2 runs on 7 hits in 7 IP in June at Fenway ...

at least the Sox have indeed seen him before.

I will admit I had a second where I went 'hee hee' when they lost but mostly I feel bad for their fans cause I know that pain of being up 3 games and losing... it really hurts!

I don't know anything about the Rockies. I can't bring myself to root for the Sox but I think they're going to take the whole thing.

I will only cop to liking Big Papi :)

i looked for tickets but there was no way i was going to let the corporate world rape me by charging $900 to get in. i bid $1000 for 2 bleacher seats on ebay, but that was as high as i was going. needless to say, i didnt win.

I was trying for seats in Denver. When you add in flights and tickets, tix would be cheaper there than in the Fens. Plus my buddy is a lawyer in denver and I could have stayed there.

Unfortunately I did not get tix.

its definitely all of the corporate dickheads...

i looked for tickets but there was no way i was going to let the corporate world rape me by charging $900 to get in. i bid $1000 for 2 bleacher seats on ebay, but that was as high as i was going. needless to say, i didnt win.

I was hoping seats in colorado would be a lot cheaper .... but, not really ... $1000 for 2 would get you in the building though.

jesus, when the hell is this game goig to start? I appreciate 8 pm as it allows me to only have to sneak out a little early to run home ... but damn, 8:45 eastern? this thing won't end until 2 with teh commercials ....

over under on "America Next Greatest Band" commercials? I'm going with 13

I was trying for seats in Denver. When you add in flights and tickets, tix would be cheaper there than in the Fens. Plus my buddy is a lawyer in denver and I could have stayed there.

Unfortunately I did not get tix.

    i tried for denver too...

    couldnt get through though.

Nonsense in part.... We have a huge fan base too and RS Nation is #1 too Red Sox Nation new king of the road
In 2005 and 2007, the Red Sox had the highest road attendance of all MLB teams.[5] Part of this is apparently due to a large contingent of New England-based fans who fly to Red Sox away games in other ballparks. For games in New York, Baltimore, Chicago, and Tampa Bay, the increase in "commuter fans" has been attributed to relatively inexpensive air fares and, conversely, the difficulty and expense of obtaining tickets to home games at Fenway Park. However, in most ballparks the increased attendance is from "fans" who converted to Red Sox fans after they won the World Series--a common occurrence among major league baseball fans and their significant others. This phenomenon among Red Sox fans has been exacerbated by Red Sox Nation references in popular culture, e.g., films such as Fever Pitch and J. Crew catalog covers during the summer of 2007.
