that's the only thing to stop me from breaking it, and that we lost to my second favorite team. we've got everyone but sabathia signed for a couple more years, and i'm damn proud that a team with absolutely no post-season experience made it to game 7 in the ALCS against the toughest team in baseball after knocking out the other toughest.

i hope we have the same postseason next year...just with a different game 7. ;) (and especially the yankees losing first round. i can't decide if it's more fun than them just not making it in general...)

just remember, it took the Sox to lose in game seven of the ALCS in 2003 before they got theirs ... peace.

Budweiser is a major sponsor for the Sox. Should have been Boston's own Sam Adams, but oh well. Great series. This thread has really taken off! I started it in April of the '06 season. It took 2 full seasons to go 20 pages and tonight got 5 more. Keep it alive for the World Series!!! Go Sox!!!
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

that's ridiculous. beckett, despite my loathing of the sox, is one of the best pitchers i've ever seen and he singlehandedly saved your asses. if it werent for him, your sox wouldn't even have taken 2 in this series. he got the big one in cleveland and allowed you to come home with momentum. he has no competition for series mvp.

It was a closer vote than you're giving, Youklis batted .500 in the ALCS, tied the record for most hits in an ALCS, set the ALCS records for most runs scored and times on base.

what about manny .430 4 bombs, and an assist in game 7...which btw lofton WAS out on. Watch the highlights after Lofton touches the base, when he was safe, he actually rises up off the bag and i do believe pedroia has the tag on him. either way this sucks now i might have to go to friggin boston for a parade.

Anyone trying for World Series tix on the Rockies website today? I've determined that flying to Denver would be cheaper than scalping tix for Fenway.

Manny hit .409 with 2 Home Runs.

The stats against the Angels are not added to the stats against the Indians when taking MVP candidacy into account, its just the stats in the particular series.
In another year Manny's .409, 2HR, 10 RBI, 9BB series numbers may have been MVP worthy, but he was a distant 3rd behind Beckett and Youkilis for the 2007 ALCS MVP.
    This weekend we rock Portland

i'm pretty sure all of the games will start at 8:20-8:30ish EST regardless of where they are played. i can't imagine (or don't ever remember) a 'west coast' world series game starting at 10pm EST.

Congrats to the Sox fans and I'm sorry to the Indians fans. I know how that feels when your team is ahead and then....d'oh! :(

This ALCS-the games were exciting to watch. And ok, I admit it: I like Big Papi. (shush don't tell anybody).

I think the Sox are going all the way...

I don't know anything about Colorado though.

My Mom said it was snowing there last week? Does the stadium have a roof??

OMFG can the sox please not win the World Series...I don't hate them I just don't want to have to go to the parade with my fiance. Oh well, at least I know that my team -the Brewers- are one of the reasons the Rockies are in the tournament in the first place.
  • Congradulations to the Red sox, the better team did win the series, it just sucks that the Indians played like crap the last 3 games though.
I'll pull for you guys in the series.
You got to give props to Victor Martinez for winning the all-star game, so you can enjoy the home field advantage.

    Good luck.

Ok guys and gals...Our team is down 3-1...but I'm still confident they can bounce back (at least that's what I'm hoping and wishing).

Just remember 2004 ALCS: down 0-3 and won 4 straight.

Let's all pray for a successful Game 5 for the Red Sox.

    *prays*
yeah but it's not the 2004 team. this team doesn't have that spark. nobody seems to be doing much of anything. Everyone is just focusing on papy, manny, lowell, and beckett, and then when they choke we gut nothing. Varitek and Youklis finally seem to be stepping up though.

that's what I really don't like about baseball- every year it's a different team and they don't care what team they're on as long as they get paid. It's hard to really be a fan of any single player or for the teams to progress in any sort of consistent manner.
