    define "back".

Back to his 2004 ways? No way.

Back to late 2009? eh, potentially. He still looks really bad at times though, but, he's fighting through it. Hopefully he'll be a little better a little sooner than he was last year.

Great to see Trot back also.
Hands down my favorite player when I was a teenager. His interview during the radio broadcast was great too.

Today on Mike and Mike they were speaking about Ortiz and his batting after the count is 0-1. Take a look at his stats through the years and his career...

Was my favorite player also, but I was in my late 20's when he came up.
    Loved the hustle.
He got a great response from the crowd today.

12 K with full count in 19 opportunities? SHEEIIIIIIIEEET

Of course the 2004 is unlikely to come back. But give the pitchers some reasons to fear you, for god´s sake.

In the past years the sox have lost power, I know, but I am being stubborn, and despite this very slow start, I like the lineup. Where we lost power, we gained in balance. But for this we need big papi to bat at least above .250 and be a decent slugger. Anyone in the lineup (with jacoby and cameron) are a highly significant threat at any given chance.

I still wear my Trot Nixon jersey t-shirt every now and then. He was my favorite as well.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

They were 4th in home runs last year and are 3rd in home runs this year.
The power numbers have been fine.
Ortiz has struggled bad, but the guy that has sucked is Victor.
Victor doing nothing and Jacoby being hurt are the main reasons for the offensive struggles.
    Things will turn around.

Speaking of Nomar...I shelved my jersey with his name on it when he was traded but I guess I can wear it again with pride since he retired a Sox huh? Just thought of that

Keep it going tonight. I know it's Dice-K, but I bet we put a big number up on Kazmir early.

As far as Ortiz, my opinion on him fluctuates on a daily basis.

Well, we swept away the Angels heading into the weekend series with the enemies. During these last 4 games, we have not only seen the offense come alive but nice pitching performances out of Buchholz and Lackey. Even Dice-K settled down tonight after a shaky first.

Friday: Josh Beckett -- Phil Hughes
Saturday: Clay Buchholz -- CC Fatassia
    Sunday: TBA -- AJ Burnett

The Sox are about to hit the wall. The Yankees have been playing very well against good teams. On paper those pitching match-ups favor the Yankees in a big way. The Yankees starters are a combined 11-1 vs. 6-4 for the Sox. We miss Lackey, it looks like Lester against AJ. Beckett's ERA is a bit on the high side wouldn't you say? Should be fun.

    Hughes is 3-0 (era 1.91) Becket 1-0 (era 6.31)
    CC is 4-1 Buchholz 3-2
    AJ is 4-0 Lester 2-2

Not many times I thought I would be able to say this but I like the pitchign matchups for the Yanks this series with how things have gone so far this season.

In the first series not one starting pitcher had a win or a lose.
All the games were deicded by the bullpen.
