Indeed, it sucks to have the best record in the American League.

Ebb and Flow of a season ... losing streaks happen ...

    That said, I'm waiting for FenwayFaithful's "I'm so nervous, I hate this team.. GRRR!" post in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ....

I was mad last night, but I'm over it today. Even if Lester got batted around last night, Beckett and Buckles are on the shelf, DiceK's career is over and John Lackey is having a Richie Tenenbaum-like meltdown before our eyes this season. It's all good jimed.

I posted this in our thread. Hope we can duplicate the other PA team's success.

Here's the dismal history (Red Sox have won last 8 series):

1915 World Series (Baker Bowl and Braves Field): Red Sox 4, Phillies 1
    1997 (Fenway Park): Sox 3, Phils 0
    1998 (Fenway): Phils 2, Sox 0
1998 (Veterans Stadium): Phils 1, Sox 1 (they played these 4 games consecutively, in 2 different ballparks)
    1999 (Fenway): Phils 2, Sox 1
    2000 (Vet): Phils 3, Sox 0
    2001 (Fenway): Sox 2, Phils 1
2003 (Vet): Phils 2, Sox 1 (3rd game was makeup on Labor Day where Sox salvaged the "series")
    2004 (Fenway): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2005 (Citizens Park): Sox 3, Phils 0
    2006 (Citizens): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2006 (Fenway): Sox 3, Phils 0
    2008 (Citizens): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2009 (Citizens): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2010 (Citizens): Sox 2, Phils 1
    2010 (Fenway): Sox 2, Phils 1

    Phils record:
    Baker Bowl 1-2
Braves Field 0-2 (they played the World Series here b/c this park fit more people)
    Fenway: 7-13
    Vet: 6-2 :?
    Citizens: 4-11

Too bad we can't play at the Vet.

I heard one group of folks clammoring to put Gonzlaez in right, and let Ortiz play 1st.

Not sure how I feel about having the entire right side of the field out of position.

    As do I.

Last year I claimed the series was about as important as a series with the Royals, even less so as the Sox aren't even in competition with the Phils for a playoff spot. And jeagler was all over my shit.

Then the Sox went and took 2 of 3 ... and we didn't hear from him again.

We were lit up by James Shields earlier in the month, and now Lee does the same thing tonight. Dominant left-handed pitching is our weakness. I gotta tip my cap to these guys for shutting down the best lineup in baseball. I am very worried about facing both these guys come playoff time. That's right, I'm still saying the Rays make the playoffs and the Yanks don't.

With all the crazy payrolls out there (red sox as well) in all sports, turning down the yankees for less money, is a milestone worthy of a standing ovation. Yankee fans would not understand this, of course. ;) They would much rather say he´s better of in the NL
