I bet we get a Cy Young caliber year from Lester too. He had 70+ k's more last year than the year before, and he did it in less innings.

We're taking a dip in power, but our pitching and defense should be great!

I wish! My buddy works beer sales at Fenway and he's already complaining about how cold it's gonna be. Whatever dude, you make like $400 bucks for 6 hours of work during Yankees games!

Was away in Tahoe this past weekend when Sox tickets went on sale for their three gmaes at AT&T Park. Of course, they are 99% sold out.

Interesting note, the Giants use market based pricing for their seats ... and the 3 games with the Red Sox were the most expensive tickets all season; more than opening day and more than any game vs the Dodgers.

    Giants Ticket Pricing

I've got until late June to secure tickets.

Oh, if I want to see the Sox, I can ... there will be tickets, and GOOD tickets HERE for a long time.

But, you just have to realize, the place is an absolute dump!

I'll probably break down and go. It's the Sox, and we usually outnumber the A's fans 3-2. But man, they fucking hate us.

Oh shit ... just remembered, the B.U. alumni group usually does a Red Sox event out here every year in Oakland, maybe they were smart enough to get Giants tickets this year. There's my IN!

Not sure if everyone saw this, but Buster Olney ranked the best rotations in baseball yesterday:

The five best rotations in baseball

    Tuesday, February 9, 2010

Q: I'm curious which team you think has the best rotation heading into 2010. What would be your Top 5 rotations? As spring training approaches and pitchers and catchers get ready to report, I'd love to read your thoughts on this in one of your blogs.

    -- Matt McCarty (Lexington, Ky.)

A: Matt: Hmmmmm ... I'll give it a shot. And keep in mind we're talking about pitchers No. 1 through No. 5, not just the top one or two, in which case my vote probably would go to the Mariners (with Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee), the Cardinals (with Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright) or the Giants (with Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain). Here goes ...

    1. Red Sox: Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, John Lackey, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Clay Buchholz, No. 6 Tim Wakefield. On paper, a strong group -- if Beckett has a season worthy of a contract drive, if Lackey succeeds in making the transition to the American League East, if Lester continues his momentum from the 2nd half when he was 7-2 with a 2.82 ERA and 94 K's in 89.1 innings pitched, if Matsuzaka can finally get on the same page as the Red Sox staff and if Buchholz continues to improve.

    2. Yankees: CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Andy Pettitte, Javier Vazquez, Phil Hughes. As usual, Burnett is the key for this group; it could be the best if he pitches at an elite level.

    3. White Sox: Jake Peavy, Mark Buehrle, John Danks, Gavin Floyd, Freddy Garcia. Peavy looked great in his three starts down the stretch this past season. More on that in Wednesday's blog.

    4. Angels: Jered Weaver, Scott Kazmir, Joe Saunders, Ervin Santana, Joel Pineiro. Lackey is gone, but if Santana is healthy, this could be an excellent group.

    5. Cardinals: Chris Carpenter, Adam Wainwright, Kyle Lohse, Brad Penny, somebody else. Penny, by the way, appears to be in great shape and is motivated to have a big season.

    Let's add this:

5a. Phillies: Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels, Joe Blanton, J.A. Happ, Jamie Moyer. The Phillies would have been No. 1 if they had Halladay, Lee and Hamels 1-2-3.

Others in the conversation: Braves (whom I probably would have placed at No. 3 if not for the trade of Javier Vazquez), Giants, Rays (depending on how Matt Garza and David Price develop), Diamondbacks (depending on what Brandon Webb does).

I pre-ordered Backspacer on vinyl from Easy Street and they always throw in free little gifts like Easy Street pens and Easy Street stickers whenever you order from them.

Well, this time I got the the Easy Street sticker with the Red Sox logo in my package which I heard they had made a limited amount of them last summer and I got lucky enough to have one thrown into my order for free.

I was up there in Sept for the PJ shows and I bought Backspacer @ Easy St, I asked. No dice. I don't believe they just give them out.

A friend of mine that lives up there stated they may print off a new batch, let us know what you find out.

Current PECOTA projections (Feb 13) have the Sox winning the east by 2 games, and, the best record in baseball.

Love how there's a three way tie at the top of the AL central, at 2 games under .500.

"Analysis" ... generous use of the term, more like Peter's wild speculation.

Still waiting for Bobby Crosby to win that MVP Gammons assured us he would.
