    Looks like Victor Martinez is coming to Boston. I think the Mariners are trying to have the best of both worlds, being in contention and trying to re-stock their young player talent pool. Plus remember this is a new regime that did not give Washburn that contract.

    Laroche would be gone (most likely) and Martinez would spend the majority of the time at catcher. Gonzales goes to first with Youk at 3rd and Lowell plays pinch hitter or backup for Youk or backup for Papi because defensively he's getting up there. And we still have plenty to package a deal for Gonzales.

    The Red Sox are not going to sit Lowell while they owe him about $16 million still.

    Martinez will split catching with Varitek and Kotteras will probably be sent down, but Gonzales is not coming to Boston most likely.

    could be a salary dump ... LaRoache makes $5M more (annually) ... no point in paying LaRoache that much as the sox got V Mart.

    but, if I remember correctly, Bay for Manny was announced a little after 4 ... so, about 20 minutes left in essence.
