hmmm ... a little bit of a lull for the olde towne team ...

They need to get the hell out of Texas ... hopefully they'll pull one out tomorrow before the leave.

Perhaps it's just too hot down there in Texas, as a team the Rangers are playing at the top of their game. It just seems the Sox are lacking confidence in their play while the Yankees are gaining.

A scenerio I don't like to see going into the second half.

LaRoche's contract is up at the end of this year.

Adrian Gonzalez is signed thorugh 2010, with a club option for 2011 ... 09:$3M, 10:$4.75M, 11:$5.5M club option (no buyout)

Are the Padres really willing to deal him? If so, they'd probably want a lot more than the Pirates got for LaRoche. A LOT more

The Red Sox have placed knuckleballer Tim Wakefield on the disabled list with a
lower back strain and recalled righthander Clay Buchholz from Pawtucket.

Jimed--I don't think they're overanxious to deal him but were willing to listen to offers. He is a gold-glover and is only 27 with a lot of upside. I mean 565% OBP or something close with 25 bombs! I think he'd be like a Jason Bay and give this damn lineup some spark. Laroche is another Kotsay--another middle of the line guy and a bigger salary. I think we could've worked out something with SD. I mean I like Chris Duncan more than Laroche and Duncan is not exactly burning the wood this year. We need a bat that will wake this club up. The Yanks are on a freaking roll and if they get Halladay, the Sox are fucked.

so, you get someone as big as Adrian Gonzalez ... what are you going to do?

Trade Lowell (and have to pick up a good portion of his salary no doubt)? Bench him?

Youk is going to play 1st or 3rd. Papi is coming around, and is going to be the DH.

LaRoche fits in where Jeff Bailey or Aaron Bates were ... much better option.

It's a week of the season ... the Ynaks tied the Sox about a week before the AS break, then, the Sox were up by threee at the break. no, the Yanks are up 1. Ebb and Flow, you can't panic.

And who says the dealing is over? Still plenty of time until the trading deadline.

quite frankly the jury is still out on Lowell and his health. It wouldn't be crazy if he wasn't full time at playing and he could pinch hit or play half the time, but I don't think he's 100%. If Youk moved to 3rd, you put Gonzo at 1st. If you keep Youk at first you put Gonzo at third and have him switch off with Lowell every now and again. Cmon, Adrian in Fenway? Are you kidding? And a Gold Glover?

Hey guys, my father and unlce will visit Boston next month and want stop by at fenway when the sox receives the yanks and yell at the mofo´s!

Please give me advice on buying tickets. I was looking at the stubhub site and I almost purchased there for what I think is a pretty nice deal, since I want to buy 4 together, and I remembered this thread. Can someone recommend another site? Thanks.

Not sure what the meeting was in the 9th, but I think the batter was blurred by something. The announcers didn't know but it should be out (news of it) now.

Not sure about Papelbon because he's putting on a show lately. No more 1-2-3. That's why Bard will be the closer if he leaves.

But if we can get Martinez from Cleveland, Gonzales from SD and or Halladay somehow in the next week, I'll be doing this freaking dance w/myself in my living room!

This would be awesome having Beckett, Halladay and Lester pitching 6 games out of 7 in the ALCS and WS.

Well, basically it trumps the Phils offer because Buchholz is a higher regarded prospect than Drabek and Bowden is higher regarded than Happ.

The Red Sox have said that Bard and Casey Kelly are untouchables.

I was watching the Oakland broadcast last night and those guys (Kuiper and Fosse) wanted to annoint him the closer and have the red sox deal Papelbon.

If you get rid of that one game in Philly when Bard couldn't find the plate, he would have a .96 era and 35 K's and 9 BB's in 28 innings.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox resigned Papelbon to a one year deal again this offseason and trade him to make up for the prospects they are losing in the Halladay trade (if it comes true) and make Bard the closer next year.

yeah, that was a REALLY tough game to watch ... what made it worse, when the Sox are playing the A's, because I'm in the bay area my MLB Package blacks out the Boston broadcast so I have to watch the Oakland broadcast .... and normally I like those guys, they do a good job (probably a top 5 crew in baseball) ... but last night was nauseating.

But if the Sox land Halladay in the next 48 hours, I'll forgive the Sox for last night and the 10-1 debacle with the O's. But those dribblers in the 9th and throwing the ball around was killing me.

But if the Sox land Halladay in the next 48 hours, I'll forgive the Sox for last night and the 10-1 debacle with the O's. But those dribblers in the 9th and throwing the ball around was killing me.

yeah, only one ball was hit well off Papelbon (granted, he did start the inning off with a walk :x )

Nick Green throwing worse play after bad ...

We'll see about Halladay ... I still tihnk it's not going to happen, but, damn ... Halladay, Lester, and Beckett ... what a trio IF they make the playoffs.

Well, with the Phils out of the running now, the Sox are the frontrunners for Halladay.
