TIM WAKEFIELD is A MONSTAH! He is 10-3 this season with a 1-0 victory today. The man has to be in this year's ALLSTAR game with this being his 17th year. He will become the REDSOX ALLTIME leading pitcher for starting games, now that's awesome.

He has become the man this season all at age 42.

As a fan of the National League all I have to say is PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY let our lineup of get one time through against Wakefield. Pujols, Utley, H. Ram, Wright, Molina, Braun, Soriano, and Manny vs. Wakefield on a hot summer when his knuckler usually stops knuckling sounds fantastic (it's taking longer than usual this year, but generally he's good in the spring and fall when the air is crisp). Plus a Manny dinger vs. Wakefield would be soooooo fucking awesome.

the Braves have three pitchers plus a pitcher in their lineup...hardly comparable to the one he would face against the NL. But by all means put him up there, he really has earned it - I just think it might be a chance for the NL to tee off on non-96 mph throwing pitchers that the AL seems to always have.

I get to go watch my 2nd and 3rd Sox games of the year w/ my wife. If they don't take both against a terrible B'more team I'll be shocked. All of this going to Sox games so I can go to two Brewers games in Washington by myself.

Why did Jacoby give me a dirty look when I yelled to him "If it gets cold tonight don't take any blankets from your teammates in the field"?
  • RW81233RW81233 Posts: 2,393
didn't go tonight...anyone planning on being at Fenway South tomorrow? I'm deciding whether or not to go tease Ellsbury from center field again. In all seriousness Jacoby took a huge beating on Monday and while most of the time it was funny, some of it was pretty shameful - ignorance is everywhere I suppose.

wha ... wha ... wha happened?

    I go to dinner, it's 9-1 in a rain delay ... I come home, it's 11-10 ... ugh. ugh-ly!

Well, they all count for only one game, I guess.

At least Smoltz looked good in the first 4 innings.

Last night's loss could be very bad for the Sox in the long run. It's hard to get over blowing a lead like that. Hopefully they bounce back today. I'm glad they play a day game today so they don't have much time to think about last night.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

I tihnk these guys play enough games, travel enough, that they all kind of fade away. They really have to live in the now.

Can you even remember any game from last week?

like I said, every day is a new day ...

Sox down 5 - 1 with 2 outs in the 9th today ... score 4 runs to tie ... win it in the 11th.

Papelbon the all time saves leader in club history.

last night is a distant memory.

Well, if Wakefield makes the team, he would not be starting the game so he would not face that lineup.

And he has allowed the 2nd fewest home runs per 9 innings in the AL this year behind Grienke - so odds are balls won't be flying out of the yard against him.

    1. Today's game was ridiculous...it was like a million degrees and we almost left, but I told my wife to hang on b/c of last night.

    2. A boy can hope that Wake starts...and, yes I understand that he's doing well, but it's a knuckleball. He can be unhittable for a long period of time and then just go all CM-Wang for a similar period...I'm just hoping it's in the All-Star game.

Bay is becoming a US citizen today following Manny's and Papi's footsteps.

I wonder if he'll pull a Manny and bring a mini flag with him to LF. ;)

Ha, in the Canada Day thread, I posted a bunch of pictures of things I thank Canada for, Jason Bay was one of them.

Granted, if he goes 0 - 5 with 5 strike outs again like yesterday, I won't be too thankful.

Man I was at this game and along with the rain delay I couldn't sit through the entire game. I listened to rest of it on I95 South but they bounced back the next aternoon and ALL is well. Seems thr Yanks are on a Mini surge in wins but just as long as the Sox continue to roll IT MATTERS NONE.

Awesome news for the Red Sox: Six Red Sox players were named to the AL All-Star team this afternoon, with
Dustin Pedroia, Jason Bay, Kevin Youkilis, Tim Wakefield, Josh Beckett, and
Jonathan Papelbon all chosen for St. Louis.

Sox fans give Nomar a huge ovation in his first at bat as a visitor back in Fenway, that was nice to see.

It was great, I was hoping that the Braves would have done a similar video and salute to Smoltz when he returned last weekend, but then I remembered that the Braves aren't a class organization, even though they think so hard that they are.

I was also very impressed with the ovations Red Sox fans gave to Ken Griffey, Jr over the weekend. Classy fans there in Boston.

Youkilis is really struggling right now. He only hit .244 for the month of June and he's currently 2 for 26 this month. I kinda wish he wasn't on the All-Star team so he could get some rest next week.

I wonder if the moving between 1st and 3rd is taking a toll on him.

One thing I've noticed in the past few games, man, he is getting some tough calls with the strike zone ... it seems that past few umps the Sox have had have had some generous (read: large) strike zones

Probably just the ins and outs of a long season. Youk will be fine.

Did anyone else see the article about Bartolo Colon and how he is missing.
Sounds just like the end of last year when he was with the Red Sox.
