Been a great series so far. The Phils fans have been pretty gracious to the Sox fans. They boo us when we cheer, but every one I've talked to has admitted they don't hate sox fans and respect our hatred of New York. Two Phils fans bought me and nothingman44 a couple beers at the game on saturday and a couple more bought us beers at the bar we went to after the game. I have to say the Phils fans have been class acts all weekend.
    Nice Story!! :D

So funny to think back to the 90's when friends and I to walk up to the gates day of the game and get tickets with no problem.

This is from the thread: *My son's Red Sox Bliss* and I posted this....
Awesome story for your son. I had a beantown story back in 1990 visiting my sister at Boston University. BTW the school serves the best gourmet food at there cafeteria. I slept on the floor in her dorm room apt but I didn't care cause I was there for 6 days to see the Sox for opening day and more.

I walked over to Fenway without a ticket and bought one outside and I was amazed how easy it was to get one. Not a bad seat even though is was cold and I wore my leather Bruins jacket. I was on the first base side and Roger Clemons was the starter and had a no-hitter for 5 or 6 innings. It would have been the first time a no hitter was pitched on opening day. I drank a lot of beer but I know the Sox played the Tigers and the Sox won the game.

After that I went around the city just trying to recover from the high of being Fenway. So later for dinner I decided to take the train down to Copley Square to take my first visit to a Hard Rock Cafe. To my amazement guess who were guests there Roger Clemons and Wade Boggs. They were doing some comedy sketch and karioke, they weren't very funny. After they finished Wade Boggs walked by and I said hello and he just sat down and we had a sandwich. I was in heaven and took some pictures and I just had to find something for him to sign. I just took the Hard Rock Cafe menu and he signed it and signed it to me. I wished I knew where my negatives are now.

After those opening day highlights I thought the trip could NOT get any better. I decided to try and see a Celtics game at the Gahden. I found a scalper and haggled with him and he sold me a ticket and he told it was a good seat but they ALL say that. I ddn't believe him but I ended up being 4 rows from the court facing the Celtics bench. They played the Miami Heat with Glen Rice and I can remember Larry Bird taking the ball out of bounds right in front of me several times during the game. The Celtics won and it was so good to be back in the old Garden once again. Last time I was there I was a youth seeing Bobby Orr play.

I saw three more Sox games and just had the time of my life being back in Beantown.

    Peace

Well you were rooting for Milwaukee at a playoff game. I was rooting for Boston in a regular season game. Big Difference.

I'm sure if they played in the World Series I would be getting a ton of abuse.

There was a great stat today during the tv broadcast.

Papi hit two HRs in his first 192 at bats this year.

After he homered in the first, he had five in his last 35 at bats.

Whatever it is he's seemingly turned the corner.

it's never too early for magic numbers. they had them even earlier for the 1986 Mets and 1998 Yankees in the NY papers and the Red Sox are certainly playing a similar brand of baseball to those teams right now.

Big weekend down here in Atlanta with the sox. I love it because the stadium is at least 60-70% sox fans and it pissed the Braves off especially that whinny bitch Francouer.

it's kind of like that everywhere.

A's fans loathe us Sox fans ... if you got a loudmouth in your group, you gotta keep your head on a swivel. Granted, we do outnumber A's fans on most nights in that pit of a stadium.

Such was the case @ Nationals Park in Washington DC. A beautiful new park filled with Red Sox fans, I knew we represent but NOT 75% range or higher. I just walked up and bought a ticket 12 rows up on the 3rd base side about an inning into the game. The place was a see of red for NATS fans and Sox fans and I even got a ball but I gave it up to this youngster who should've caught it. One female Nats fan yelled out "shutup" and the whole section started chanting "Let's Go Red Sox" and I yelled out, "see now looked what you started". :)

Papi was huge with 2 out 3 run dinger and TEK with a bomb to the upper deck which I called to the old lady sitting next to me. She said how did you know? I said I just know plus I just love TEK and what he does for this team with it's pitching staff. Paps was on 123 in the 9th with solid defense in the outand infield.

Nationals Park/Stadium is real nice but I can't compare it just yet to Camden Yards cause I need go again real soon. I might go to tonight's game with Smoltz pitching hid debut. I'm not expecting much just 4-5 innings cause the Sox to me has the best bull pen in baseball.

I know Josh Willingham comes to the plate to Evenflow.

oh, and the Nats set a record the other night for one night attendance in the new park (over 41k) ... that's right, the Sox in DC in the middle of June got more people out to the NEW ballpark than opening day ... that's just silly.

Yeah the Sox set the record to open the series, then broke it last night when I was there and I believe tonight they broke it again. Not even the Yankees could come close. Tonight the announcers said Nationals Park is a much better park than the new Yankee Stadium which I MUST visit someday.
