Here it is the 2007 Philadelphia Phillies baseball Thread. Ryan Howard is back to defend that MVP crown. Chase Utley and the boys of summer are coming for that NL east title. Lets fill up those ol' bleachers and kick back with a beer a dollar dog and watch the "Big Chief " and Brett Myers throw back to back gems all year long. Looking forward to another productive year from the boys in red and white. Predictions start here , Im gonna say 90-72. Win the NL east and the NLCS goes through the city of brotherly love , baby.. GO PHILS.. Lets get fired up!!!!!!!!!!!

I find those guys or gals, about 10 or a dozen, who sit in the upper deck and dress up and do crazy things during the game, like those who formed the Wolf Pack, and wore crazy wolf faces, and there was something really good for Sal Fusano this year. That's f-in hilarious sometimes.

hey ssb, were you a Phillis fan around 1993 when the Phillies played the Jays in the World Series. I am a big Jays fan and remember that series quite well. Games are usually replayed once in a while up here on ESPN Classic Canada.

Yup, thats a pretty bad memory for us phillies fan.. Typical for a Jays fan..What was your guys last home attendance? Last I heard they were giving blue-jays tix away on the street.. Ryan Howard= MVP

thinking of picking up the sunday plan again. i had it for the last year at the vet. i think right now we're the team to beat in the east. they need to unload lieber and sure up the bullpen before the season starts. and i am not happy with burrell hitting behind howard again. the mvp will see a lot more walks this year. that being said, i cannot wait for pitchers and catchers next month!

I'll probably get a six-pack plan and a couple other single games. I like to go to weeknight games. The stadium is awesome. Nothin like sitting out there on a warm summer night watchin a ballgame.

Now that the eagles season is officially over ( un fortunately ). We can concentrate on the phightins. The NL east champs will have thier hands full this year,.....go sillies..

i'm excited that they stepped up and locked chase into a long term deal!

not so excited about him getting married this weekend, though.... that takes me out of the running. :(

I think the Phils will do pretty well this year.

Sporting News ranked them as having the number 1 ranked rotation in the National League.

My only concern is the bullpen because they'll score runs and hang in games. Plus Gordon hasn't pitched a full season without tailing off at the end since 2003.

If you think about it , the phils and the mets IMO are the only one in the race for the nl east...the braves have fallen down and are rebuilding , same with the marlins.. I just wish we never got rid of wagner. He was the ace in the 9th inning...Lockin up Utley is key , next howard, next WS

yeah i do not think flash will make it past midseason. burrell hitting behind howard scares me too. howard will walk at least 10,000 times this year. but i agree with us having the best rotation. i cant wait! GO PHILS!

20 days til pitchers and catchers report...that means citizens bank baby...Phils win the east in a landslide...playoff baseball in philly? IM there...pj play citizens bank...

actually, I've learned to live with the Carter homerun. I was only 10 when it happened (cried myself to sleep) but have since watched it on ESPN classic and have come to not only accept it, but to forgive Mitch as well.

my buddy has a kickass ballpark giveaway DVD documentary of the '93 Phils narrated by the Kruker himself. good profiles of Hollins, Dutch, Lenny "The Dude Nails" Dykstra, Coach Fergosi, etc. we watch it when we're hammered late at night

to this day whenever i hear sean mcdonough's voice i get these vietnam style flashbacks of that dark and cold saturday night in 1993....it hurts just thinking about it

Man I remember watching that homerun and him running around the bases. Does anyone remember how many outs the phils had that inning? I was taping the whole game and jeez.....could you imagine how mitch felt after that?

I hope not. I like rowand. Anybody who breaks thier nose running into the fence to catch a flyball out there has a spot on my team. Anyone else would have played that ball off the wall. We need players like that . Sparkplugs who put that jolt into the rest of the team are very valuable today. Now, Burrell I can see cutting loose. Too much salery, too little production, and the guy wears tights out there...sbb

Yankee fan here, but I am a huge baseball fan, and like to weigh in on all matters baseball. I think the phillies will continue to get better next year. I picked them in 2004 and 2005 to win the division and they made me look stupid, so I stopped doing that. I think they'll be very good though, and shall root for them to end the Mets NL Least division Champion streak at 1, some 14 short of the Braves.
