So many pages in the thread for me to get caught up on!! I've got the TUF episode on my tivo, but there's slim to no chance I will be able to watch it until Saturday morning. My UFC 84 picks probably won't be in until then either. Apparently I had forgotten how much it sucks to get up at 4 am ... well at least the first week does. :(

COLEMAN OUT, GSP VS. FITCH TO HEADLINE UFC 87
Thursday, May 22, 2008
by Ken Pishna - MMAWeekly.com
The injury bug continues to plague the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The promotion on Thursday, just two days prior to its marquee bout between B.J. Penn and Sean Sherk at UFC 84, announced that Mark Coleman has a knee injury that forces him out of the main event of UFC 87 on Aug. 9. He was scheduled to face Brock Lesnar.
The UFC acted quickly signing a title bout between current welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and No. 1 contender Jon Fitch. That fight will now headline UFC 87 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
“He’s a very, very tough guy,” said St. Pierre of Fitch on UFC.com. “I’m gonna have to train hard and be very well prepared because he may be my toughest fight yet.”
“The whole goal is to get the belt and be in the position where guys can’t duck me, run away, or say they don’t want to fight me,” said Fitch, also on the promotion’s web site. “If I have the belt, there’s no excuse, and if you say you’re the best, then we’re gonna fight. This is gonna be a tough fight, but I’m gonna make sure I’m sharp that night, and wherever the fight needs to go, that’s fine with me.”
Another feature bout of UFC 87 is a battle between lightweight contenders Kenny Florian and Roger Huerta, which UFC president Dana White inferred is a de facto elimination bout for a title shot against the winner of this Saturday’s bout between Penn and Sherk.
“I think the winner (between Penn and Sherk)... there's another fight between Roger Huerta and Kenny Florian, I think the winner of that fight will fight the winner of this fight,” stated White.
In announcing Coleman’s withdrawal from the bout, the UFC confirmed that Brock Lesnar is still expected to fight at UFC 87 and that a new opponent is yet to be determined.

That vid was too funny Mook. I love how excited the announcers get. LOL!!
it's more fun to listen to the japanese or korean commentary sometimes. i don't know what they're saying other than the odd "armbar" or "choke" but they certainly seem excited about the action!

not that i ever share my thoughts on the matches or anything...:D...but...
i'm hoping people don't tune out after rogers vs. murphy. it should be the standard ugly HW slugfest. can't say i'm looking forward to it at all. at least there's a good chance it will end quickly (fingers crossed).
baroni vs. villasenor is an interesting match and quite possibly the one where we'll see the most action on the ground. i wish ninja was still fighting baroni, but villasenor is a game opponent with lots of experience and a great coach in greg jackson. i'd expect them to let baroni tire himself out in the first and then gradully wear him down in the second, possibly finishing him in the late second or third...or winning a decision. baroni's best chance is to overwhelm villasenor with strikes in the first, but i can't see villasenor playing into that game. baroni always tires in his fights, so villasenor should be able to take advantage if he plays it safe in the beginning.
carano vs. young will rival smith vs. lawler for fight of the night. two muay thai fighters, both with ground games that need some work. i'd say gina's takedown defense is good enough to keep kaitlin from taking her down if that's what kaitlin plans to do, and her muay thai is heads and shoulders above young, who has a more rigid style of muay thai and not the best defense. she's new to the sport and blew through her first four opponents, only to have her weakness on the ground exposed in her last fight where she dominated the stand up only to fall victim to an armbar in the second. it's also going to be a huge test of her nerves being so young, green, and being on national tv. gina's been there and done it. gina is fluid, and her hands, elbows and leg kicks are the best in women's mma, in my opinion. i can see gina winning this one in the second with a ko or tko. should be an outstanding match, as young is a promising newcomer. i just think see's going to get overwhelmed by the moment and by the better striker. gina's probabaly the most technically adept striker on the card.
smith vs. lawler has fireworks written all over it. both guys love to stand and trade punches. i think they'll do it until one of them goes down, and in my opinion it's lawler who falls first in this one. who needs a second round, eh?!
kimbo should have a relatively easy ko in his match against thompson. thompson has been ko'd many times now and by lesser strikers. maybe thompson will try to take the fight to the ground like he did in his last match, but even if he does, i'm not sure how much of an advantage he will have there. it's not exactly his strong suit, and kimbo is said to have a solid ground game. we just haven't seen it yet...and i don't expect to see it here. likely another slugfest , with kimbo getting the better of it with more accurate striking, power, and movement.
i'm expecting a lot of stand up in these matches and not a lot of grappling, which is really too bad, for a network tv debut, but it should still be an exciting show, in any case. it would just be nice if it turns out to be a better representation of overall MMA than it looks like on paper.
was that two or three cents? :D ...maybe a nickel...haha
love the preview mookie, i agree that it should be an exciting show and would have been stellar if ninja hadn't have gotten injured. Would be nice to see some ground game but aslong as there are good fight i won't complain.
Gunna be nice to see gina fight, i've only really seen the vid you posted and was impressed. It'll be interesting to see how the media reacts to female mma on mainstream tv.
I agree about the opening fight, i don't know either fighter and by your preview it doesn't sound like i'm missing much. I wish the baroni fight would open the card since this should be able to keep people's attention alot better.

GSP - Fitch is a dream match for me, probably my 2 favourite fighters. I hope fitch comes out like an animal but i still gotta go with gsp.
So now that coleman is out, who do you think will fight Brock? They need to find somebody that he can beat, but will give him enough of a challenge that he learns from it. I would say AA but 1st i don't know if he is still with the UFC and also i'm not sure brock could take him. Would be a good fight though.

everybody made weight for tomorrow night, so we're all set! tito came out with a "DANA IS MY BITCH" t-shirt on underneath his sweater, which got a huge reaction from the crowd. a couple of heated staredowns, with sokoudjou getting mildly upset over nakamura invading his space with his "hat" during the staredown, reljic pushed gouveia's forehead with his own causing the crowd to boo and reljic was moved away. most of the main card seemed pretty tense. should be a good show!
nice reactions for jon koppenhaver, rich clementi, thiago silva and sokoudjou. wanderlei, tito and bj probabaly got the best receptions, while sherk got a pretty chilly one.
