"...now let's see what happens..." tito wins with a powerful neck crank, that's what! ;D have to love the old goldberg and blatnick team.
yep, it should be an outstanding match if the two fighters you posted clips of show up at 84. such a contrast in styles!
i'm hoping to see more takedowns from the clinch in this one from tito. i think he has excellent takedowns from the clinch, but chooses to use the double leg more. he can be very effective with that, but i think lyoto could prove too elusive at times to get caught like that. if tito can pressure him into the fence and go for the takedown from there i think his style wins out. use his size and power advantage to set up an inside leg trip and let his weight carry machida down.
would you agree with tito winning this one on the ground, lbc? his stand up looked much improved aginst chuck and he's throwing his leg kicks with more confidence, but i don't know if he can offer enough to surprise machida on the feet. you never know...it's mma!
i just can't see it mookie. I would be happy with a tito win but machida is just too unique. He is extremely elusive, very powerful with a good ground game. I think really he is the perfect opponent for the ufc to put up against tito with tito leaving.
oh and that's great news about huerta joining jackson's gym... him and kenny will be a great fight

Sorry I haven't been around guys, my dad is running for a place in our union so i've been super busy helping him campaign, oh, and playing gta4 when i'm not doing that lol.
TUF was good this week, 2 good fights and Matt Brown is a very smart fighter. I hope he does well in this. Nice to see Rampage's team get a win aswell although now we won't be seeing any coin tosses lol

we must all agree, leafs! very good points about lyoto. this could be the difference maker in who holds the belt, eh? you could well retain and leave me and lbc hangin out in the basement...with releash and ceg two points apart in the middle.
yeah, i cannot wait for that florian vs. huerta match!!! best thing roger could have done to prepare is get a new perspective after his time off. great move for him.

it was a good episode this week. a couple of good matches. i have to agree on matt brown. very smart fighter, but tough, and agressive when he needs to be. he's really surprising me, and i have to admit it was kind of refreshing to see jeremy lose after the way he was acting.
no more coin tosses, but more rampage dances!!! haha
i'm going to attempt to get up, down a bottle of advil and catch this one...:D it will be live on HDNet this time, no delay.
DREAM 3, May 11, 2008, Saitama Super Arena, Saitama, Japan
LW Tournament Round Two:
Tatsuya Kawajiri Vs. Luis Buscape
Mitsuhiro Ishida Vs. Caol Uno
Joachim Hansen Vs. Eddie Alvarez
Non-Tounament Bouts:
Jason Miller Vs. Katsuyori Shibata
Melvin Manhoef Vs. Dae Won Kim
Nick Diaz Vs. Katsuya Inoue
Daisuke Nakamura Vs. Bu Kyung Jung
Takeshi Yamazaki Vs. Shoji Maruyama
the diaz vs. inoue match, which has been announced and cancelled a couple of times, is apparently back on. jason miller will be in his element fighting in japan and i'm sure we'll see a show during his ring entrance! i'm anxious to see how the fans take to him.
i absolutely cannot wait to see ishida vs. uno!!! it should be a fantastic ground match. ishida is a dynamo and uno is a slick veteran, so i expect good position control from ishida and submission attempts from uno. should be a lot of fun to watch!
oh, and the rematch that took place between shinya aoki and jz calvancante at DREAM 2 was, obviously too close to this event for the winner, aoki, to participate in this round of the LW tournament. he will face katsuhiko nagata at DREAM 4, the second round of the MW tournament, instead.
no more coin tosses, but more rampage dances!!! haha
hahahha ... I loved the Rampage song and dance routine. He is seriously hysterical!
Matt Brown's gameplan was really frustrating Forrest but in the end, he turned it on and landed a couple of beautiful shots. Dana White sure liked that head kick to end the match! I have to say that Matt Brown kinda scares me with his intensity!

Rampage was singing and dancing?? shoot... i must have missed that.... i was preoccupied on the computer i think...

"i got controoool, i got controoool! a little eddie murphy tribute there i think...
yeah, forrest was losing his mind. "the animal!! let the animal go!!!" "matt...what the (bleep!)!!!"
Rampage was singing and dancing?? shoot... i must have missed that.... i was preoccupied on the computer i think...
just during the last few seconds, ceg. he was celebrating the win doing the "i got mc'donalds'" from eddie murphy...but he was singing "i got controool" instead. it was pretty funny. doing his moves and describing them..."got some janet jackson here...":D
Takeshi Yamazaki Vs. Shoji Maruyama is first up...
shoji comes in to rage against the machine, yamazaki comes in to lounge music???
shoji landed a couple of nice knees and had a "rich franklin" like armbar escape at the end, but yamasaki played half guard control for most of the first.
oh, and classic bas..."liver shot! that's the first one of the evening ladies and gentelmen...i'm not drinking right now, but that's one shot for those of you playing the drinking game at home...liver shot, liver shot, liver shot!"
i'm a little disappointed in the lack of outfit for mayhem , but the breakdancing routine he came in with was pretty impressive. the long zebra pants underneath his trunks aren't bad either...haha
he starts out in typical mayhem fashion...stands in the middle of the ring looking at his opponent over his shoulder and then does a karate stance. lands a number of knees from there, but is hurt by one punch and goes for the takedown and plays with shibata on the ground from there out...
takes the time to wave to the fans and give the peace sign to the big screen. numerous knees and punches to shibata until the ref finally stops the fight. mayhem moves into the last spot for the MW tournament at DREAM 4.
mayhem then gets on the mic and actually knows a few japanese phrases! pays respect to shibata and the fans and tells them, in japanese, "i am a demon! i am a ghost! i am a super monkey!!
the game plans were ckear, and kim actually works his way in to range to attempt a takedown, but a striking exchange ensues and kim gets the better of it! takes manhoef down and gets control on the ground. manhoef eventually muscles his way to side control, lands a couple of hammer fists, but then ko's kim on the ground with a knee. looks like the first knee knocked him out, but the second was a certain illegal blow to the back of the head. hard to tell which one was the one that ended the fight...
anyway, manhoef becomes the alternate for the MW tournament.
Daisuke Nakamura Vs. Bu Kyung Jung next...
go jung! i hope he finally gets a win here! two great fights so far against aoki and ishida, but both losses in game efforts.
jung does not know how to be in a boring fight! jung lands some shots and some nice knees, even a flying one, and sets the tone for the first round by judo throw into back control and straight into an armbar. from there, reversals and numerous sub attempts by both guys. nakamura with leg locks and kimuras and jung with armbars...great match so far...to the second...
another early armbar escape, this time by jung and they come back to the feet where nakamura lands a right hand for a knockout. great fight, feel bad for jung. three excellent matches in his first three bouts and three hard fought losses.
more rage! inoue comes out to rage and bas is happy..."i trained on bombtrack on that cd twice a day for so many years. you cannot believe it!" bas is really having a laugh tonight, good to hear him doing commentary again.
"i think they should give diaz an extra prize for being able to beat gomi while 'under the influence'...then again i come from holland...starts singing 'make the world a better place for you and me...'":D
like a busy sparring match, diaz comes out pawing the jab, mixing in some body shots and straights and has inoue circling backward for most of the beginning. diaz gets a takedown, then inoue gets a couple of curious "timeouts" to check his nose and another one? diaz eventually starts staying in the middle and trading with inoue and inoue's corner finally throws in the towel once diaz really starts getting the better of it against the ropes. inoue was pretty much out on his feet.
buscape works early to try to take the fight down. kawjiri works hard to defend. buscape ends up on his back and kawajiri does some damage with strikes while trying to pass guard. after it gets back to the feet, buscape continues to try the clinch and they are broken up. kawajiri lands a big right hand off the break and buscape pulls him into guard after he drops where kawajiri continues to ground and pound. kawajiri's fight so far...
kawajiri works more ground and pound for the second until buscape transitions to his back and has a late RNC attempt. not enough as kawajiri dominates for a unanimous decison.
can't believe this is going to the second! both guys land a hard punch at the same time to start things off, but eddie's drops hansen. eddie goes in for the finish, but hansen regains composure. eddie gets in some shots on the ground and it's back standing. eddie lands harder rights. hansen lands some lefts. eddie lands low leg kicks, hansen lands a high kick. hansen gets dropped a couple more times and taken down a couple more times, but ends with some knees and punches. eddie certainly ahead at this point. each time hansen and alvarez made contact at the same time, hansen was the one who was hurt. i am suprised!
to the second!
oh, and in the theme of heavy tunes for the night, hansen comes out to the heaviest, a little 'angel of death' by slayer.
what a fight! eddie comes out and gets another takedown, but hansen kicks him off strongly and tries for a sweet and quick armbar, but eddie escapes and ends up mounted but gets out. back to the feet and more strong exchanges. eddie gets another takedown and hansen gets him into a kimura using his legs and one arm!!! eddie gets out somehow and then gets caught when hansen drops into a kimura then transitions, when eddie rolls, to an armbar, which eddie escapes again! he finishes strongly with both fighters trading, but a high kick and a few strong hands from eddie seals a unanimous decision for him.
hansen asks for the mic after the match and says, "eddie, you are the toughest man i have ever fought, thank you. it is always nice to compete here in front a japanese auidience, it is good to win in front of a japanese audience, and it is also good to get beaten in front of a japanese audience. thank you eddie." great show of class and respect from both fighters at the end. i am very impressed with eddie alvarez!
uno comes out to smells like teen spirit! (techno version for japan, of course )
not what i expected! uno avoids five takedown attempts with incredible balance! uno uses his reach and outstrikes ishida, breaking his nose on a knee punch combo. (edit: i guess it wasan uppercut.) ishida gets dropped a couple of times, but recovers quickly. ishida finally succeeds on his sixth takedown attempt. uno goes for a kimura and ishida counters with an armbar, a la hughes vs. st-pierre part one. uno recognizes it, though, and they stand up. uno lands some more on the feet but gets taken down again and ishida gets his back. ishida tries for a rear naked choke near the end of the round. uno rolls out slickly to get on top with a couple of strikes to finish the round...
pretty good fight so far...
to the second and it's more of uno using his reach. ishida gets a takedown and it looks like uno is going for the same kimura but gets an incredible sweep to mount and takes ishida's back. immediately, he sinks in a rear naked choke with no hooks in!! finishes the fight when ishida taps. incredible finish. uno!!! i'm happy for him. he was a huge underdog, a lot of people wrote him off in the tournament, and he beats one of the top LW's in the world!
it's been great doing play by play tonight. thanks for chatting everyone...haha sounds like everyone enjoyed the show.
just during the last few seconds, ceg. he was celebrating the win doing the "i got mc'donalds'" from eddie murphy...but he was singing "i got controool" instead. : D it was pretty funny. doing his moves and describing them..."got some janet jackson here...": D
well, conveniently, just after i posted that i'd missed it, i turned on the t.v. to find TUF rereuns, and caught both the Dante/Brandon fight that i slept though, and the last episode which i missed most of.... i think i was searching online for flights or something?
the Dante/Brandon fight was a bit of a let-down. I understand why Rampage was so upset... it was a tough call... Dante had control for most of the fight, but Brandon was way more active, even from the bottom... hmmm....
wow! Matt's knockout of Jeremy was pretty spectaular!! it was one of those total slow-motion moments... Jeremy.... falling.... and i was laughing pretty damn hard at Forrest's screaming (or squealing?) "where's the animal????" hahahaha....
I didn't find the second fight to be all that exciting either (did i miss something?)... but Rampage's little dance at the end was rather hilarious... perhaps an Eddie Murphy reference? but mookie, isn't it "i got some iiiiiiccce creeeaaam!"?? from Delerious?
oh! mookie. glad you liked the Dream show... sounds like everyone had a great time...

hey civ, the 2nd fight was pretty good, i can't remember all of it right now, but both fighters came out swinging and ended in a nice KO (can't remember who won sorry). I just remember it being a slugfest.
I didn't read your write-ups about the dream show mookie, I just ordered HDNET today when i woke up (can't believe it was only 9 bux for all the hd channels, what the hell was i holding out for) so i'm going to watch it at 4 when they have the rerun. I hope it turned out good

mayhem!!!
