Great way to start the season! Sweeping the Cardinals on the road, getting good performances from the starting pitching, and stellar defense all make for a few smiles coming out of Spring Training.

Looking forward to Ollie continuing the trend in Atlanta tomorrow. I've got a good mind to drive up there and catch Saturday's game to cheer on Pelfrey.

EDIT: I guess Pelfrey isn't being called up just yet. Glavine goes on Saturday and El Duque on Sunday. Perhaps they're saving Pelfrey for a home start?

I love how Maine had a great start to the season. The guy is the sleeper pick for NL Cy Young award :)

I'm having a hard time selling it to the wife. She loves baseball, too, but says "if I'm going to see a Mets game, it had better be at Shea."

To which, I say to you all--when are we having a rendezvous in Queens? PJ/Mets fans converge!

Well, I'm in Florida, so I'd need a midsummer type date (post AllStar break) if it were to happen for me. Sorry that I'm not close enough to just hop on the train to Shea.

Wouldn't it be great if Pearl Jam decided to play one or two nights in NYC and the Mets were in town? That'd be more than enough reason to get me up there from here.

Nice job tonight, Ollie. He looked strong for what I was able to see of those seven innings. Reall enjoyed watching Joe Smith pitch, too. I made them put the game on at work so I could periodically check the score. I actually get to watch the Mets when they're playing Atlanta because we have the Braves broadcasts on our cable package here. Tomorrow and Sunday are on, as well.

Damn, I envy you Mets fans that live closer to the action!

I just realized that PJ and the Mets will be in Chicago the same weekend in August.

Wrigley isn't Shea, but is anybody here going?

This team is no paper tiger. They do it ON THE FIELD.

Power is not their entire game. The Mets can manufacture runs with contact hitters and speed on the basepaths, too. Don't be fooled.

Someone (can't remember who) said that the Mets have an American League style line-up. That may be true when compared to other NL teams. Maybe that's why you look at 1-8 and come away with that impression. But they're not going to crush homeruns to win every game. They'll beat the opponents in a variety of fashions. Just keep watching...

As for Philadelphia, I hope Monday was a sign of things to come. I'd love to watch those chumps fall on their faces over and over and over again this season. Jimmy Rollins must've forgotten they trailed the Mets by 15 games for most of last season. Their sorry bullpen is not going to help them close the gap at all.
