Well, Phili came in and sent a message. They showed alot of guts in coming from behind the last two nights. Point taken; next time when we have our A squad we'll have to return the favor. We need to sort the bullpen out a bit, but we've still got one of the best; one rough patch doesn't change that, and Phili's is horrendous and one succesful series doesn't change that either. Lets not push the panic button quite yet, we're gonna get some guys back, maybe a tweak or 2 via the trade market, and I'm quite sure when August rolls around we will have a double digit lead on these pretenders. Every team has a rough stretch or 2, its a marathon, not a sprint. We'll take it out on Detriot.

    LETS GO METS!

Got the first win on Friday. We'll see what happens today with Glavine on the mound today. Get him some runs, guys!

It would be nice to take the series and prove the Mets could've beaten the Tigers in the World Series last year.

Stop the slide! Three in a row is enough already. Let's get back on a winning track.

After LA, it won't get any easier with a cross-country trip to play the suddenly-hot Yanks.

Get it together, team! Let's go, Mets!

I'll be out in New York next week visitin my buddies again, and plan on goin to Shea for the first time, for a Mets game. I've been to Yankee Stadium a few times and figured I'd try a Mets game (not only that, but the Yanks are out of town anyways, hopefully losing a bunch of games). I'm pretty pumped.

Sorry that our Mets lost a fourth straight game.

But I did see highlights of Verlander's no-hitter in Detroit tonight. Have to agree. WTF is the deal with the damn birds? Do something about that already! It's an embarassing sight.

Congrats to Dude, though. He pitched his ass off for the Tigers.

    You rock, metsy!

Is it just me, or does John Maine not look as happy to be there as goofy Ollie and El Duque do?

    Hooray for Omar!

  • That would defeat the whole purpose of the story. The story is about guys Minaya brought in.

Right you are. But the story was also about how Omar blurs the lines and is comfortable with diversity.

So if they needed an Anglo player that he brought in, they could've picked LoDuca, Green, Wagner. Or he could've coached Maine up a bit. Guy just looks like a malcontent with that phony smile. He could've cheesed it up a bit with all the other guys and proven how Glavine says all 25 guys get along and have fun together.

    Still a FANTASTIC article.

i always get the impression that maine was the odd man out of this team.like u never hear of him bonding with other teamates. this team needs a shake-up, maybe fire the hitting coach

Maine's a quiet guy. I don't think being quiet has anything to do with bonding or getting along with your teammates. Some guys are more low-key about things than others.
