Nice game tonight. The last thing I felt like dealing with is whispers from the Braves fans. They're playing pretty well right now, and will probably contend for the wild card, However, I predict a double digit lead by Aug 1st. We're just too good for anything less.

Rubber match tonight in Atlanta. Mets try to take their sixth series win in a row before heading to SoFla to face the Marlins.

Glavine takes the hill looking for career win 295 against his old buddy John Smoltz. What's the record for number of starts against the same opposing pitcher in one season? Isn't this the third time they've faced each other this year?

Nice to see DWright getting his swing back. Perhaps there really was some magic in the haircut. He's up to 8 HRs this month after zero in April.

C'mon Amazins! Get Tommy another win!

Gomez will get to play, but it's too early to call Green out for the season:

Well, he absolutly hasn't been declared out for the season, in fact his status is currently day to day, Its an injury that wouldn't be made worse by playing through, but he's slow enough to begin with so I hope that doesn't happen. I still can't fathom how anyone would figure him out for the season.

Anyway, great to see Delgado put a charge into a couple of balls tonight. He's actually hitting over 500 over the 20 or so at bats since moving to the 6 hole. It was a good approach of straightening out his swing by trying to go the other way. I said all along that I expected him to end up with his usual 30 and 100. I still stand by that.

Also, great to see Maine return to form, not that I was too woried.

Lets hope Gomez is ok, That would be some shit luck if we lost him too. Alou is supposed to come back tuesday, but thats no guarantee. Other than that, I guess we'd look to Lastings to come back up, although I seem to remember him with a minor injury himself. I don't care if we have to play David Newhan for a month. We still can't be stopped

    LETS GO METS!

Wow, Carlos is back! We knew it would be a matter of time before Delgado starting playing like himself. and as for Armando, he's still the king of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, thankfully its no longer at our expense

There is something special going on with this team, they just convey such confidence in close games in late innings. In short they look like champions.

btw, did anyone notice "Meglomania" by Incubus being played when Bonds came to the plate?, followed by the "You took Seriods *clap, clap, clap, clap, clap*" chant, Funny Stuff.

Anyway, I'm heading out to Shea tomorrow, should be great, Glavine and Zito on the hill, I'm seriously excited about this team.

ESPN had plenty of that oh so familiar sound of classic Armando Benitez at work.

Q: Where have you gone Armando Benitez?

A: Thankfully, to any team not named the New York Mets.

That was so FREAKIN' funny to watch him blow up and lose the game in the 12th for the Giants. I'd nearly forgotten how much I don't miss him pitching for the Amazins.

Glavine and Zito tomorrow should be fun. Have a great time at the game, Brainofdz! I hope they run the winning streak to five for you. You're right about the team and their early success. It makes one think they're at the start of something huge.

Here's to getting win 296 for Tom Glavine. Let's Go Mets!

I had trouble seeing the first balk on the highlight reel, but on the second one Benitez flinched his legs while reading the catcher's sign and before coming to his set position.

The first one must've been fairly obvious, too. The home plate umpire made the call. Third base ump called balk #2.

on the first one, i saw first base umpire bob davidson wave his arms frantically but i thought he was calling time because maybe something was on the field.

I thouroughly enjoyed that one last night!!!

I actually texted my buddy in NYC who is also a big mets fan...when they mentioned Benitez in the 7th inning. I was like "I forgot they had Benitez...we've got this one".

Then his first three pitches to Reyes where not even close..I texted him back...and was like...I told you...We won this game....(then the balks...then the Hr. pitch...which like someone already said...you could have called Vegas to book that one....lol)

Here's to you Benitez....Breakin' hearts for someone else now.....

classic armando ... seen it too many times. after he was wild high and away on the first pitch, i knew he was done.

as for the balks, the first was called by the 1st base umpire ... he briefly started his wind up but stopped - the home plate ump was calling time after he heard the call. as for the second, full out flinch thanks to reyes called by the third base umpire.

changed it up a bit and watched the game on espn since the SNY was not in HD (probably because it was an espn game).

    put it in the books!

    F bonds.

Mets lost to the Phillies in extra innings tonight, BUT...

Pedro threw off a mound today for the first time since surgery. All in all, I'd say Tuesday was a push for the Amazins.

They really need to help get Tom Glavine over the hump, though. Haven't performed well in his starts as of late.
