gary thorne was the shit. not many call a game like him. i really wish he landed a job with OLN/VS after the lock out. while i do like sam rosen calling the NYR games, it was a nice treat to hear thorne call the espn ranger games in the 90's every now and then.0 -

The Fixer wrote:I'm fired up for tonight's game as well. I was thinking about it...tonight will be the biggest flyers game I have ever watched. I am too young to remember much about the '87 series vs edmonton. the series in '97 was just a 4 game ass kicking. tonight is a pivotal game...not necessarily a must win, but obviously important.
can't wait...
Woah
Is this is the same guy that said Devils in a sweep ?
or
That the Flyers "sucked" all year ?
And hockey is only fun when the Flyers are winning ?Post edited by Phantom Pain onMy drinking team has a hockey problem

They had great chemistry (Thorne-Clement)
I like Rosen believe it or not even though I'm a Flyers fan
I would rather have Rosen in there then EmrickPost edited by Phantom Pain onMy drinking team has a hockey problem

I only pull this this gem out once in awhile....
"I learned early on during my stay in Philadelphia you need not be the most talented, the most skilled, the best goal scorer, nor the best play maker. But if you play with passion, desire and a blue-collar attitude, you would and could be embraced, more than you could ever imagine. I took great pride in putting on my Flyers jersey because I felt as though every time I did I had your support. I will always give credit to the fans of Philadelphia for creating my identity as a player and as a person and for that I humbly thank you." - Keith Primeau:thumbup:

he was a beast during the 06 (the tampa year) playoff run. single handly carried the team to the confrence finals.
Sami was fun to watch as well.81 is now off the air0 -
I might actually like this goal better than the 5OT Goal in 2000. His performance that year was unreal.

what a terrible first period by teh Flyers. :(81 is now off the air0 -
Well, the first period was a good old-fashioned ass-kicking. Maybe we can show up for the rest of the game.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

UGH!
Horrible display tonight from Leighton and the D in front of him
2 of those goals in the 1st should not have gone in
I never would have thought scoring 5 goals and 4 goals in CHI and we would be on the losing end of both games
This team has always taken the hard road to winning so this series is no different
I'm sure Lavy has some choice words after this game in the locker roomMy drinking team has a hockey problem

Agreed that was a sloppy sloppy start and the Flyers never recovered.......disappointing for sure.
Chicago was crisp with their passing tonight though....
Just need to take Game 6.......we all know anything can happen in a game 70 -
Flyers all-time road record in Stanley Cup Finals: 3-20. Ouch.
It was so frustating to keep coming within 2 goals and never get closer. Bottom line is you can't fall behind by 3 goals in the first period and expect to come back against a great team.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

just brutal game. Pronger and Richards were just awful. Leighton just sucks so when his defense sucks in front of him that is what you get. Oh well onto game 6. No way Pronger is that bad again.0

yes it was a brutal game but i think that the flyers could have made it back but there was some bad luck. when they were down 3-1 there should have been a penalty shot when the dman from Chicago closed his hand on the puck in the crease. and that highstick in the 3rd on Briere that should have been a 4 minute penalty.
the flyers didn't deserve to win but i think that if those were called the game would have been different.
but enough excuses. On to game 6.
GO FLYERS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

agree on the non-calls. the closing the hand on the puck was close, he was outside of it when he first grabbed it but inside when he threw it. missing the high stick on Briere was freakin awful - they would have their best defensemen in the penalty box for 4 minutes at least. Also thought the 1st call of the game on Bartulis was awful.
Officials not why they lost though but it did kind of feel like the Blackhawks have bitched about the refs so much heading into this game so they got some calls. Also think NBC is going out of their way to show the flyers penalties that aren't called and barely mentioned Keith's high stick. Every time Pronger hits someone they have to show it and comment on it now. They totally brushed over Keith's high stick with just a quick mention.
Series not over and expect a great effort in game 6. Get it to game 7 and it comes down to a bounce here or there. So close now going to really suck to not win this.0 -
wont be around for a week good luck the rest of the wayi post on the board of a band that doesn't exsist anymore .......i need my head examined.......0

Oh by the way, who but the Flyers could have a goalie controversy heading into Game 6 of the Final?
Anyways, get ready for Friday night! the refs in this series have been pretty shitty all around so no offense, but there have been plenty of no calls on both teams, and plenty of chincy little shit. Cambell got a high stick to the face and cut his mouth but there was no pen. pronger's had some nasty cross checks but wasn't called. Chicago outskated philly and was ridiculous in their zone that entire first period0
