Anyone hear about Richards going off on the media again ?

That dude really needs some thicker skin..especially if he's wearing the "C"

If he thinks the media is tough on him he should try and walk in McNabb's shoes for a week

    Nice win last night

    Time to beat the RAGS!!

They really need to get on a streak again..the conference is so tight at the bottom

5 more at Home is a nice chance to climb

it was a win they should get. Columbus is not a contender. The flyers have been playing the lower 3rd of the league over the last month. They have played two good teams (Pitt and washington) and went 1-1.

If they want to do anything come playoff time, they will need to show they can win agaist the good teams and not just toronto, columbus, islanders etc.

March is going to decide the fate of this team. the schedule makers were not kind to the Flyers. You have to wonder why they only played one game a week during the first couple of weeks of the season, and then during March they play either every day or every other day. brutal.

    from the NHL rule book
47.16 Third Man In - A game misconduct penalty, at the discretion of the Referee, shall be imposed on any player or goalkeeper who is the first to intervene (third man in) in an altercation already in progress except when a match penalty is being imposed in the original altercation. This penalty is in addition to any other penalties incurred in the same incident.

This rule also applies to subsequent players or goalkeepers who elect to intervene in the same or other altercations during the same stoppage of play.

besides, the ranger guy was more than big enough to take care of himself. next time, maybe he should try and throw a punch.

agree here - not sure what Torts angle is here - his man dropped the gloves. don't blame carcillo or the flyers for that. f the rangers.

Yeah I mean everyone knows the code but say Gaborik dropped his gloves and Carcillo doesnt and Gaborik just so happens to start throwing ?

Carcillo did the right thing later by fighting Avery

Bush league is if Carcillo pounds Gaborik and Gaborik still has his gloves on then Girardi jumps in because it's not technically a "fight" its more of a guy getting jumped

    Frustrating game today !

Asham said Cooke bit him and then had some very harsh words !

Grabbed this from a different Message Board

    January 24, 2010...6:19 pm
Asham accuses Cooke of biting; Having ‘no stones.’
    Jump to Comments

During the third period of the Flyers’ 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, a typical line scrum erupted. In the middle of it stood Flyers’ forward Arron Asham and a turtled Matt Cooke. As the melee appeared to be breaking up, Asham began furiously throwing punches to the back of Cooke’s head, warranting penalties on both sides.

The cause of Asham’s outburst: He says Cooke bit him.

“There was a scrum, I grabbed him. There were two guys on Harts and my glove got tangled in his mouth and he bit me, so I lost it,” Asham told the media.

But instead of run to dressing room flashing his chewed finger, similar to what Pens’ defenseman Kris Letang did when he accused Flyers’ forward Scott Hartnall of biting in a game earlier this season, Asham challenged Cooke to a fight when the two left the box. Cooke, despite serving up a tapestry of lip service to Asham while serving his minor, refused the fight, which infuriated Asham even more.

“It’s not bad, but he’s a gutless guy,” Asham said of Cooke.” I have no respect for him at all. I lined up against him and asked him to fight and he didn’t want to.

“You should have a little more honor than that. Usually if you bite somebody you stick up for yourself and you fight the guy. Not this guy, he’s chicken and I have no respect for him. He plays the game hard and I respect him for that, but he yaps, he’s a dirty player. At least a guy like (Sean) Avery fights. This guy is just chicken #### and I hate him.

Not sure what Asham meant by ‘usually if you bite someone..’ but the Flyers’ tough guy didn’t stop after putting Cooke lower than Sean Avery on the respect scale. He continued to call Cooke out to the media.

“It would have been better if he dropped the gloves with me, but he’s got no stones,” Asham said. “He’s garbage to me and I have no respect for him at all

Yeah especially when you see a full ice replay and neither ref has their arm raised till after the goal is scored... plus, where did Gagne's high stick penalty come from???

Carcillo didn't go after anyone... he grabbed a guy off the pile, they skated away a bit and shoved each other. Then Gaborik starts to drop his gloves and Carcillo obliges... stop trying to make this like Carcillo jumped Gaborik and pummeled him.

And for the record, Carcillo did "man up" and drop the gloves with someone tougher.. Avery

did you even see that part of the game. The ranger was on top of the pile, Carcillo pulled him off, the RANGER DROPPED HIS GLOVES FIRST. Don't know what part of dropping gloves first you don't get.
