open relationships

Out of all the couples I've know over all the years I've been married~(26) and then I could count my parents friends (at least one couple were swingers!!! )....anyone who was able to do as they pleased outside of the marriage....all ended in divorce, so far. So no I don't think it can work for 99.99 % of all marriages....I haven't met an elderly couple who are still married and had an open marriage...so I'll let you know in a few decades when I'm old and meet a couple who had it work out!!!

interesting really. you DO hear about couples who manage to make it thru infidelity, and that is all lies...that i would think that with an open relationship, at least being based on truth, open/honest communication...it would be better?

however, someone else mentioned earlier..i think....about it possibly being good 'for a while'....and yea, i can't imagine a relationship sustaining such activities for ever and ever. although, who knows? i would think it would be a phase maybe, experimentation, whatever. dunno. so maybe that's it? once some, and let's face it - most definitely couldn't handle it - but perhaps some take it too far? or, simply enjoy the freedom TOO much? food for thought.....

as ever, i guess it depends on the wants/needs...how truly desired it is, equally - or not, from both in the couple. i think those who it's fantasy/fetish......might deal a bit better than those who try and push the limits and beyond. then again...i have no idea really......


does make me curious tho, why some can rebound from infidelity......and more can't make their way thru this? i would think, infidelity is FAR more common than open relationships, of whatever form. yes, infidelity does indeed result in many, many divorces.....and yet, still many manage to wether it ad make their marriage better. it's interesting, these what-ifs...the hows ans whys some marriage make it and others don't. and i definitely think long-term marriages probably suffer thru many of the same issues that manage to tear other couples and relationships apart.....
