Hamburg have declared an interest in Zenit St Petersburg's young Slovakian international defender Martin Skrtel, according to reports in Germany.
The 20-year-old impressed Thomas Doll, the Hamburg coach, during Slovakia's 2-0 friendly win over Germany last month and they hope to pursue their interest at the end of the season.
Skrtel, who began his career with Slovakian side Dukla Trencin before moving to Zenit St Petersburg, has also been linked with Liverpool recently.
Doll is looking to increase competition for places in the centre of defence at Hamburg even though they currently have Dutch international Khalid Boulahrouz and Belgian Daniel van Buyten.

im no arsenal fan but do not want spurs to qualify, the best slap in the face would be if arsenal win the champs lge,, this is a big ask and should they get thru tomorrow I m undecided who´´d be best for the final. Its probable that barca are goin but maybe milan would be more suitable opposition for the gunners....milan are an old team and arsenals high-tempo could cause them major probs, plus they dont have ronaldinho, or messi!!!
