there are going to be upwards of 25 MPH Gusts up thru the game tonight.
if the forecasters are correct and the winds are that high
    expect a homerfest tonight.
For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
That it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive

Good luck with that. You should be more worried about the Angels and your capital C captian riding the pine or the merry go round that will take place if he catches.

If Francona manages with his brain and not his heart, V-tek will sit this series and Vmart will be in full time. I have to admit, now that Vmart is here I like our chances a LOT better vs. the Angels. You have to remember, the Angels had Tex, Torri, Anderson and even K-Rod last year and we handled them. In my opinion, the Angels aren't as good this year although Abreau has been a surprise and Morales is playing out of his mind. Why Ervin Santana isn't playing is beyond me.

Agreed the Varitek should not be playing, it's not like he brings anything to the table offensively either. Enough Boston talk though.....

    LETS GO YANK-EES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For sure. I read earlier 25-50 mph winds. Don't really need this to play a factor in a game but I would think it would favor the Yanks slightly. They have dealt with the stadium all year and have much much more power in their lineup than the Twins.

But will it effect C.C.'s pitching?

And what's brewing between Jorge and A.J? Will Molina hurt the Yankees lineup in Game 2?

I dont know how much it will effect CC's pitching. I would tend to think it would hurt the Twins rookie a bit more. If he can't locate he is going to be in trouble.

I don't think anything is brewing between Jorge and AJ, I think there have been problems all year. They have a lot of trouble getting on the same page and don't communicate effectively at all. Not having Jorge's bat in the lineup definitely won't help but I would tend to think that getting a good start from AJ is the most important aspect of game 2.

only one of those pictures above has world series champions in it thought. ;)

good luck to the yanks. CC should have an easy time today pitching against a bunch of guys coming of yesterday's win.

of course, right after I type this, the twins put up 2 on CC.

WTF is up with Posada? did he bet on the Twins? awful passed balls, then, half hearted walk to get one of them to allow a run to score.

It's not like Martinez is throwing anyone out either. At least he hits though. Anaheim will be running the whole series. i expect 5 steals per game

Is CC considered an 'athlete?' Great pitcher, but a grossly obese human being wobbling around the mound as he has that look of wanting to devour his own glove..and yet he is performing at the highest possible level as defined by baseball pitching standards..

If you're into minutia or whatever, here are some notes:

-Today (October 7) was actually the second anniversary of the Yankees last postseason victory.
-The Yankees are 7-2 against the Twins in the postseason. The only losses were series openers in games started by Johan Santana.
-CC Sabathia snapped a three-game postseason losing streak and did not walk anyone for the first time in six playoff starts.
-Derek Jeter hit his first postseason homer since Game 1 against Detroit in 2006. The home run was his 20th extra-base hit, tying Manny Ramirez for second place all time in division series play.
-Alex Rodriguez snapped a 0-for-18 postseason streak with runners in scoring position and two outs. If you were watching closely, you noticed he was retired on curveballs in his first two at-bats.
-Hideki Matsui hit his seventh postseason home run. While he had 13 home runs in 131 regular-season at-bats off lefties this year, it was just his fourth in 45 career postseason at-bats off lefties.
    - In three career playoff appearances, Phil Hughes is 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA.

actually for somebody as large as he is, all i keep reading is that he is extremely strong and in pretty good shape. He does throw well over 200 innings every season

  • Blackburn will have the Yankees hitting weak groundballs on Friday, Burnett will give up 6 ER, the Twins will win 6-4 and Jeter and A-Rod will cry and spoon with one another on the plane ride to Minneapolis!
    So this life is sacrifice...
6/30/98 Minneapolis, 10/8/00 East Troy (Brrrr!), 6/16/03 St. Paul, 6/27/06 St. Paul
  • well, that should put an end to jorge's griping about sitting a game

Jorge is so passed his prime it's ridiculous. The Yankees might as well have Paul O'Neill playing right field.

Why don't the Yanks bring up a prospect to catch? Oh that's right they don't have any.

Just out of curiousity, could you remind me how many hits Blackburn has given up this year?

Oh yeah. 240, the most in the AL

Ever heard of a guy named Jesus Montero? He just so happens to be one of the top prospects in baseball and guess what? He is also a catcher. (They also have another coveted catching prospect, Austin Romine).

It would be wonderful if you did an ounce of research before you say something completely idiotic.

Jesus Montero and Austin Romine come to mind. Although I think Montero might grow out of that position. And they 3 other good catchers in their system.

Ummm....someone 6 foot 7 should not weight over 300 LBS and be considered in good shape.

LaBron is the same height and in good shape.

CC is fat and if he stays this way he will die younger than he should.

It would be wonderful if the Yankees organization produced a player anybody cared about.

If Jesus is so great then why isn't he already catching? (I want a t-shirt with that on it). A nutless monkey could do a better job catching than Grandpa Posada.

How about Cano, Hughes, Joba and Melky or Jeter, Posada, Mo and Pettitte.

I would venture to guess you are not aware of the fact that 13 players on the Yankees postseason roster are home grown.

Jesus is not catching because he is 19 years old.
