haha! A postman with a dog slober issue? hahahahaha! You do have problems then Jamie.
It's the stuff that comes out of the other end of him that I have more of an issue with! Trying to scoop it all up off someone's nature strip in the middle of the night, while I'm trying to hold him and the torch and my breath!!!
Actually now that you mention it, I think I probably am pretty dedicated. If you'd told me this time last year that I'd be doing all this icky stuff for a dog I'd have called you a raving loon to your face! So this morning, as usual I was making toast.
I've got it down to a fairly routine arrangement. I get the butter out of the fridge, get three pieces of bread from the bread bag and return the loaf to the bread basket. I put 2 pieces in the toaster, butter them when they're done and I eat one piece and feed Lukin his piece cut into little squares, while the third piece is toasting. Only something strange happened this morning. I'm sure I took three pieces out, and left one on the bread board while the other two were cooking. Except when I went to get the third piece off the bread board it was gone! So now I'm wondering. Did I really get the 3rd slice out of the bag and put in on the bread board and SOMEBODY SNAFFLED IT OFF THE BENCH while I wasn't watching???????? Or am I completely losing my marbles and didn't get it out of the bag in the first place????? I mean it's not like I could tell by the look on his face or anything! So I couldn't really scold him could I?

well it's very likely for this sort of thing to happen when someone owns a dog I'd say if you got it all down to a routine, then it must be Lukin's fault, but i wouldn't scold him for that. Plus he probably thinks he got away with it so he'll be confused as to why you're angry. Next time just watch him carefully
but anyway how is he?? are you teaching him any doggy tricks?? or does he think he is too cool for that
jeanie, your story reminded me of a norm story i've been meaning to tell.....the other day i went to the immagine screening...right before i left i made up norm's dinner.....it was sitting on the kitchen table......my friend arrived....i called norm into the house and we left.......i forgot to put his bowl on the floor.....:o.....so there it sat for about 3 hours......i still feel bad....:(.......poor guy the food was inches away and he couldn't have it......on the plus side he didn't climb up onto the table.....:)

Oh I never scold him for things that I don't catch him at. Which is why he still got his piece of toast the other morning! But I've had to get real crafty and quiet to catch him out a few times. If I suspect him of doing something but I haven't actually seen him doing it, we have a little discussion about why I don't want him doing something, but of course that does very little! Well at least it didn't save my stuffed dog! However since I caught him in there on the bed with Elmo's little teddy in his mouth the other day, and he was sent to his mat in disgrace for some time out, he has been pretty good at leaving them alone.
He's got "sit" "stay" "on your mat" and "lie down", down pat. He's fairly good with "come" and "no". He has absolutely no clue when it comes to fetch though! I think he thinks the aim of the game is that I throw him something, he runs and gets it, drops it and waits for me to come get it again and throw it!
That's the second time that things have gone missing from the bench in mysterious circumstances. And I have caught him attempting to get things off the bench a few times, but I can't be sure if it's him being cunning or me being vacuous!
Urban, Keely, Lauren, those are beautiful puppers!

Yes you know the pain....and yours is much worse right now then any that I had from the loss of my boys....I still had Mason when Uno went, and then I got Petey 10 days after Mason's sudden passing....It helped keep me from going too far down. The poem/story is good, might be a bit much for you right now, too close to home and you're still raw from the loss.
I hope sweet Surfer boy gives you some happy, good dreams soon, so you can get some peace of heart that he is ok. He is waiting for you, soulmates always do. Or...he might reincarnate and someday soon be walking right in to your life again!

It was a hard day.
Full of frustrations;
The world succeeded
In beating me down
No matter how hard I fought.
Home at last,
I opened the door
To your admiring, loving face,
And kisses like I'd been gone
A lifetime.
Warm caresses, healing love--
I felt the cares of the world
Slide off my back.
I held you in my arms
And only love and happiness
Surround me.
and I remembered
Why I love, so much,
Coming home...
You're such a good little dog.
my mom found that somewhere and passed it to me.......to all the dogs past and present......you're good little dogs.....:)

Oh my gosh, what a cute doggie! Looks like a sweetie.
She is a sweetie, but hates the wind and we've had quite a bit of that today as I'm sure you have too. Just trying to keep her from getting under our desks and messing up our cables.

for Lukin to have a nickname and I'm voting for Captain Spastic!
Every time Mum or I come home we are greeted with the four legged equivalent of Peter Garrett dancing! How he doesn't break his tail I'll never know! He hits it against everything in his excitement!
Anyway, try to imagine the four legged version of this and you'll have the idea!

Full of frustrations;
The world succeeded
In beating me down
No matter how hard I fought.
Home at last,
I opened the door
To your admiring, loving face,
And kisses like I'd been gone
A lifetime.
Warm caresses, healing love--
I felt the cares of the world
Slide off my back.
I held you in my arms
And only love and happiness
Surround me.
and I remembered
Why I love, so much,
Coming home...
You're such a good little dog.
my mom found that somewhere and passed it to me.......to all the dogs past and present......you're good little dogs.....:)

Oh my gosh, what a cute doggie! Looks like a sweetie.
Every time Mum or I come home we are greeted with the four legged equivalent of Peter Garrett dancing! How he doesn't break his tail I'll never know! He hits it against everything in his excitement!
Anyway, try to imagine the four legged version of this and you'll have the idea!
