i'm not a big fan of a lot of things right now.

a-rod should have bunted right there... maybe he could have avoided his 11th double play of the month.

it's not up to him to bunt on his own. If he did everyone would kill him.

honestly, i can't think of a comment that's sarcastic enough to post in response to this. :)

yea I know...we shouldn't even play the last 28 games, lol

seriously tho...lets say these guys do take 4 out of 6 from TB..just saying and all of a sudden theyre like what 5 back from the division lead? with still about 18 games left and a 4 game set with the Chisox and a season ending finale wth you guys

all I want is for that last series to be relevant and have wild card implications and I think we can get close enough to do that still

6 gb the WC with 28 left to go

its gonna be fun either way :)

The thing is if you take 4 of 6 from Tampa, you just make up 2 games in the standings.

Let's say the Red Sox go 14-14 the rest of the way (which considering they have 19 games at Fenway seems unlikely), after today's loss the Yanks would have to go 20-7 just to tie and hope that either the Twins or White Sox falter as well down the stretch.

I love reading your support, but the the Yanks have been done for a few weeks now.

well since you put it that way and after a game like today it's pretty much a wrap. Esp if you guys win tonite. oh well..it's been fun (well..not the A-rod part..just the whole staying in the race kinda)

The Yankees need to just finish up the season strong for next year. Then let things fall where they may.

He flipped the ball low to Jeter on a DP grounder. That led to the Blue Jays getting it to 6-5. He had enough time to pivot and throw. I heard it on the radio first. Then saw the replay n YES later.

Hughes is listed as Monday's AAA starter. That's also the day the roster expands. He could be the started for the Detroit game. His last 2 starts against them weren't great. But I would like to see him back.

It was a hard hit grounder. Sometimes you get a bloop hit. Other times you hit it hard and it's right at someone.

I think they're going to send him, Joba and Kennedy to the Arizona Fall league to increase their innings. Otherwise it'll be the same next year with how many innings they're allowed.

    interesting.
those rules still apply on how many pitches theyre allowed to pitch? I thought it was only for like their first yr.

They pitch a certain amount of innings a year. I think they increase it by 40. Last year Joba was reaching his limit. That's wy he was brought up to complete those innings in the bullpen. This year he was going to be allowed to throw about 140ip. Which is why started out in the bullpen earlier this year. Then worked his way into the rotation. But since he won't make those innings this year. Then it's going to be the same next year. Unless he pitches in AFL.

Man I'm so glad the Sox didn't trade for him but then again if he had come to Beantown I think he wolud have played great. Maybe even a couple more WS but then again I would be hoping and a praying for that. :)

In thinking of totally what if scenarios, I was thinking what if the Yankees kept Soriano at second, used some fill-in at third in 2004 while Boone was hurt and then traded Robinson Cano in a deal for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell. I guess they might have had to include Wang in that deal but back in 2005 with Soriano still on the team, that might be a smart deal.

True, but could you have imagined the 3-4-5 for the Red Sox being Ortiz, A Rod and Magglio Ordonez from 04 to now. Because getting Ordonez was the second part of the A Rod trade for Boston.

true, that'd be pretty impressive but what if the Yankees didn't jump in. would a-rod still have gone to Boston after the whole thing with the players association not wanting him to re-structure his contract.

The Yankees jumped in after the Red Sox trade was complete but rejected by the Player's union. A Rod was going to be a Red Sox if the player's association didn't step in December 03. The Yanks didn't trade for him until February 04.

  • I'd say that if the Yankees did not jump in and grab him, he would still be in Texas. remember, after the Boston deal fell thru, they had that pomp and circumstances ceremony naming him captain. They were all in tuxedos. I think that was Texas way of trying to patch things up, though I'm sure Boras had a hand in setting that up as well

That's what I meant. If I remember correctly, if the Yankees didn't jump in he was going back to Texas.

A-rod just never existed....the whole WORLD would be a much better place
no drama, no wasting money, no mass media attention

I just wish I could go on the rest of my life without hearing that fucking name again. Unfortunately the sad reality is its never gonna happen. His name is gonna be as popular as any baseball legend for ...well....just about eternity

Yea he caused all wars. Bush getting elected. The stock markets to crash. Creed to become a band. Only two day weekends.

By the way he has 4 rbi's. But I guess it doesn't count cuz they have 11 runs. In an 11-8 lead.

No. But I don't think it's fair that he's the only one being picked on. Don Mattingly is my favorite Yankee of all time. And everyone would say the same about him. Had he been playing now would you treat him the same way?
