give him abreak. He knows he lost that argument, his team has lost 2 straight to the hard charging yankees, who could pull ahead of the Sox for 2nd place witha win tonight, and Manny can no longer be defended even by the mast ardent apologist. Seriously though, comparing Joba to irabu?!?!?! That would be like saying Papelbon is the next eric gagne. or Curt Schilling as a closer. That worked well

I was comparing how fat they are! ...and their faces look alike too. Weird, they're not even the same race/nationality.

this game gonna happen tonight or what?
    Mansfield II: # 23, since '03

    routine was the theme..

there aint gonna be any middle any more
  • I hadn't noticed that. That's abit surprising. He's on the DL, not the minors. I could see giving his number away if he was demoted, but not hurt

Explain to me why he would intentionally put a man on base with no one out and his team up 1-0 in the 7th in Fenway. Are you calling Joba a headhunter? I'm sure he was trying to throw inside. But not hurt him.

Watching the pine tar game on ESPN Classics. Nice leaping catch by Mattingly. He's gonna have alot of work to do with Andruw Jones over there in L.A. I was hoping he would be here next week for Old Timer's day. Alot of first timers next week. Including Rickey Henderson, Tino Martinez, Jimmy Key, Pat Kelly and others.

they've beeen stockpiling arms for a few years. None of them are ready, even for an audition? I would rather have seen the departed Ross Ohlendorf get a few starts over The Aruban Irabu. Karstens as well.

Also, I have to say, Arod hurt them tonight. bases loaded, 0 out, Lester just walked in a run...had them on the ropes. Couldn't at least hit a fly ball, get the run in? make it 7-3? he gets a hit there, the shaky Boston bullpen gets up. And Damon should have tagged on nady's fly out, shallow as it was. he drew the throw, then went back to the bag even though the throw was way off

What's with the A-Rod hate? He hit a bullet. Lowe was just in the right place. Nady hit a shallow fly ball and Cano hit it back to Lester.

Yeah it had to be Meacham. He sends everyone and their mother on base hits. They know Elsbury doesn't have a good arm.

probably because you felt badly how steinbrenner treated him by making him ride the columbus shuttle in the 1980s.

I should have said even though he hit it hard. The situation called for a fly ball there. Gotta get a run in. Hopefully it finds a gap or a fence, but at least get 1 in, keep applying pressure

funny. every time a guy gets thrown out at home, I expect meachem to be sent down to Columbus to be their 3rd base coach.

As for the play, I put it more on Damon. he drew the throw, but as soon as Ellsbury threw it, he headed back to the bag. The throw was way off line, he should have read the throw and broke home.
  • anyone else notice that the yankee fans are still present and accounted for even though they lost? Some fans go into hiding when they lose, but magically reappear when they get a safe lead

I would understand if he was swinging wildy at bad pitches. But he saw a pitch he could handle. It's his birthday he at least deserves a day off of criticism.

Most Sox fans have jobs and have a busy life outside the interwebz, OK!

  • Weekend jobs? I'm sure they would have navigated their busy schedules and found a few minutes to chest thump had Boston won the first 2. I think they're all just huddled up in a room somewhere trying to come up with a way to spin the Manny deal. best part si the manny apologists didn't mind at all when he roughed up a 62 year old man,but when he says he wants to play elsewhere, well, that's the last straw
