yankees aren't trading cano. this is the time of the year that the rumors get a little nutty, hence the cano rumors.

ALEX Rodriguez for once thought he was surrounded by too many women. The divorce-bound slugger and two male buddies left the Empire Hotel rooftop bar Wednesday night because he was "being bothered," a source reports with a laugh. "All the girls were harassing him. He spent the entire time text-messaging." A-Rod's waitress, a smoking-hot, curly-haired brunette, said he avoided alcohol and drank Voss water before leaving. Meanwhile, a 20-year Miami-area lawyer says Rodriguez's choice of divorce counsel is the talk of legal circles there. "Everyone is wondering why A-Rod added Alan Kluger to his legal team. We understand Ira Elegant, because he represented Shaq [O'Neal], but Kluger?" wondered the source. "He's a corporate lawyer. The legal community is dumbfounded." Kluger did not return repeated calls for a comment.

what do you know about the other 2 guys? I've never heard of them (the 2 pitchers besides Ohlendorf) I had high hopes for Ohlendorf, but he's obviously gotta go in a deal like this. Same with Tabata, although it started to seem like he was all hype. I bet Ohlendorf does well for Pittsburgh. they'll probably use him as a starter. he never seemed right as a reliever.

Is this the end for Brett gardner, at least for this year? I hope not. keep him around to be a 4th OF, pinch runner and possibly Melky's replacement if he's dealt/continues to not hit.

meaning 20 years of professional experience ...not 20 years old:)...hence the hypen...the hypen makes 20-year an adjective:)

I personally don't think it's written very well but I'm sure whoever wrote it makes more than me

you can disregard everything i said about coke and kontos. That's because the trade has been changed to include Dan McCutchen and Jeff Karstens.

I just saw that on ESPN What's that all about? Was it a mistake by whoever first reported Kontos and Coke, or did The Pirates get cold feet and ask for more? Karstens isn't a big deal, but mcCutcheon is supposed to be very good

Marte was originially a Yankee minor leaguer, until being dealt to the Pirates for:

I only know because I just read it while looking into why the 2 pitchers were changed

it was no mistake. the pirates backed off after ESPN spent the entire night whining and bitching about how the yankees didn't give up enough.

I saw that last night on the ESPN ticker. That just seems like a bizarre rule for baseball. I know why they are doing it, but it's still strange.

All the Olympians will be minor leaguers or college players. No one from the Yankee system was invited to try outs. Here is the roster. They are playing their final warm up games down here next week against Canada. I think I may try to check out a game.

I'm happy with the trade. They gave up a lot of young guys, but they have developed a lot of depth down there. Nady and Marte should help a lot. Nady in the lineup today!

Nice to see Joba finally get a win last night. They still aren't scoring runs for him, but last night was a big time pitchers duel as expected.
    Brian
  • it's funny how teams don't score for certain pitchers. Since being traded to the Cubs, Rch Harden has made 3 starts. 17.1 IP, 2 ER, 30 K's. He's 0-1. If he had gotten a win in either start this week, I'd have wrapped up a win in my fantasy league.

    nice!

fuck I didnt think Nady would play today...dunno if I should replace him with Magglio. My fantasy outfield is pretty disgusting, Carlos Quentin, Ryan Ludwick, Magglio O. Ichiro for runs and steals and Nady :D

wtf do I start today?? lol

Rumor is that it will mostly be a salary dump by the M's with the Yanks taking on most of his contract. If that is the case, they wont have to give up much in return. Buster Olney is saying it should happenwithin the next 48 hrs.
