its like saying youre gonna fire Phil Jackson...same shit

and Moose can finish his career back in Baltimore maybe or he'll play out his last yr coming out the pen for us which I dont think would be so bad. He can come in as a good mid reliever. In the middle innings he was chewing the indians up with strikes! STILL nasty... I didnt really have much faith left in him...but he held it down

    I think Joe is done

So then why the sinister laugh if we were part of your team not making the playoffs?
The Yankees had nothing to do with the M's god-awful collapse towards the end of the season. We shot ourselves in the foot multiple times for multiple games. It was almost Mets-like.

Pettitte has a 16 million dollar player option due next year so it will be up to him if he wants to come back.

Mussina has a guaranteed 11 million dollar contract so the Yanks would have to find some team to dump his salary on or else he'll be back as well.

    maybe moose for johan.

    ouch.

Just noticed the Yanks are paying Pavano $11M next year as well ... double ouch.

True, but the Sox paid Clement 9.5 this year. That's the biggest example of why the Sox and Yanks are playing a different game than the other teams - big mistakes like Pavano and Clement would cripple a team with a lower payroll. Both the Sox and Yanks can find ways around their mistakes. Thankfully though he's finally off the payroll now.

Yeah and where were you the rest of the year? Your thread has 4 pages, ours has 180 something.

This is my first time actually coming into the "All Encomassing Trip" forum for longer than five seconds. I was unaware that baseball talk went into such depth in this forum, and on the few times I slipped into the forum by accident I did not notice an Indians thread, or would have posted in it - which is the reason for me not posting in it.

On another not, it's not really anything special that the Yankee's thread has more replied to it on a Pearl Jam message board than the one for the Indians. If you actually thought about it, being that the Yankee's are from New York they automatically have a much larger fanbase than a team in Cleveland. On top of that, being one of the most successful franchises in sports, they have a lot of fans outside of the city - meaning they are one of the most popular teams in baseball, resulting in more fans on here, resulting in more posts. It's common sense, and honestly means nothing so don't brag about it like it's something special.

Also, please don't even begin to refer, directly or indirectly, to me as a bandwagon Indians fan. You would be completely wrong for many reasons. I'm a young person, I'm an undergraduate in college. My knowledge of the history of baseball is rather limited, but I have been a close fan since I could understand and follow the sport - the mid '90s is when I started following it closely. I was born and raised in a diehard Cleveland Indians family, and some of my fondest memories are going to see the Indians when I was younger - Sandy Alomar, Albert Belle, Kenny Lofton, Omar, Thome, Marquis, Manny, Roberto, etc. My uncle has season tickets, so I go fairly often - and always have. Also, as a Yankees fan yourself, never - ever, make a joke about an Indians fan being a bandwagoner or anything along those lines. The Yankees, whether you'd like to admit it or not, has the biggest bandwagon in all of sports. For you own good, honestly, I'm letting you know that if you make fun of anyone for being on the Indians "bandwagon", you're just going to be laughed at and not taken seriously any further.

On a sidenote, I find it incredibly hilarious and rather immature that a lot (not all) of Yankee fans are throwing a fit that they lost, and are resorting to hoping that their most hated rival, possibly the most bitter rival in all of sports, beats the "shit" out of the team they lost to - simply because they are too immature to handle such a loss accordingly. You do realize what you're saying there, right? I mean, come on, this is just pathetic. You're hoping that the Boston Red Sox beat the Indians simply because the Indians eliminated the Yankees from the playoffs? Excuse me, please, while I laugh my ass off.

I can't wait for this series to start, and I hope the media can deal without a Boston-New York ALCS. They're the two best teams in bsaeball (see records), and they appropriately should be playing against each other to represent the AL in the World Series.

With that being said, I tip my hat to the Sox - BUT GO TRIBE!

wow that is a weak class ... jeez, I think the best on there IS Schilling ... who has already stated he will not play for the Yankees ... stating, once you've been with the Hatfields, you can never join the McCoys.

Guess the next question is, what small market team has a pitcher they can't afford anymore .... time for the Twins to unload Santana? ok, this is a stretch ... but, it's how the Yanks (and the Sox) think.

Shannon Stewart has been worthless for atleast 3 years. Hideki Matsui could outhit him with an amputated arm.

agreed. damon played well against cleveland, and therefore he doesn't get traded. he just needs to show up to spring training in shape next year.

matsui doesn't need to be replaced either. he's good when he's healthy.

i like rowand, but i don't want to see the yankees sign any type A free agents this offseason. i'd rather see them hold on to their draft picks and build the future that way.

also, the organization has a number of very good OF prospects right now. a free agent would block those guys from making it to the ML level.

EDIT: for those unfamiliar, type A free agents are the ones where you have to give up your first round pick if you sign them.

yeah but see, here's the thing, you're coming into our thread, so you're like a visitor, a guest in our house so to speak. And you're insulting me and coming off as smug and condescending. How else do you expect for someone else to respond to that?

You can do a search feature for threads or start one yourself.

I wasn't bragging about our larger thread, I was commenting because it is a matter of fact that there are only 4 pages of commentary on the team in your thread, for the whole year, and now all of a sudden everyone is coming into our thread to comment on us losing.

I stand corrected on your support of your team, but if you had said that from the get go instead of coming in here and making comments about why people hate the Yankees, on the night they lose, when obviously I'm not going to be happy about it, well, again, I don't know how else you expect someone to react to that.

But there's no need to go into how I'm going to be "laughed" at, your explanation would suffice.

I am not "throwing a fit,' I am just bummed out.
If we beat you guys, would you not be bummed out? Would you? Would you be happy about your beloved team losing?
I don't think you would, so please don't tell me how to feel or that my reaction is immature. That's the way I see things.
You're assuming my reaction to the Red Sox based on my support of the Yankees. Even though I'm not a fan of them, I still think they have a good ballclub.
