Yep, that's why I was rooting for the Yanks tonight too. Plus, I love watching Yanks and Sox games.

    Congrats to the Indians tonight!

And congrats to Torre! I really hope he leaves on his own terms and that Steinbrenner doesn't force him out.

just because the yankee's aren't in the playoffs anymore doesn't make it boring. if it wasn't for the rivalry between boston & new york, indians-red sox is easily the most interesting matchup in the entire MLB, really. they are tied for the two best records in baseball. yes, it's not your precious & overly publicized yankees against their hated rival, but i'm looking forward to this matchup.

    let's go tribe!

i'm somewhat of a red sox fan - i've liked them before they won the world series, though. i've rooted for them since i was young (which would be the mid-'90s), because i always wanted to see them break "the curse" and win a world series (and because i hate the yankees), so they have a soft spot in my heart. (call me a bandwagoner, i don't really care / take offense). so, this matchup will be especially interesting for me.

Thanks! I know there's a lot of trash talking between Sox and Yanks fans, but for the most part most of the Yanks fans on the board I've ever met or talked to are some really great people. Good luck next year. Joba and Kennedy are going to be a big part of the rivalry for years to come.

...and that mentality is why a lot of people are "yankee haters". you made it to the playoffs, and came back from a huge deficit early in the year to prove a lot of people wrong. you're also the only returning team to the playoffs from last year, and i believe have made it more times this decade than any other team - and are tied with the cardinals, i believe, for most number of world series appearances this decade (2). therefore, you have no reason to complain. nearly any other team in the MLB would have been overjoyed with making the playoffs this year, and overcoming that deficit, even if they were to lose in the first round - let alone all the other amazing accomplishments that the yankees have made since the beginning of the decade. so, no, it's not "only all good if you win" - because it's been pretty much "all good" for awhile now. the indian's haven't been to the world series in a decade, and have made it to the playoffs once this year. they are a very young team with lots of talent, and i'm excited as hell to see how far they can make it because by god they deserve it.

Yep, he just turned 22 a few weeks ago. Just wait a few years when he works on his craft and becomes a pitcher more than a flame thrower. With that slider, he's going to be nasty for years to come.

I have to give the Yankees credit for hanging in throughout the year and making the playoffs. I would have preferred the Red Sox playing the Yankees but it's not to be. I was actually rooting for the Yanks this go round.

The Tribe were the other best team in AL and it's always best to play the best. Go Red Sox

i wouldn't be surprised if him and carmona become the new face of pitching in a couple years. carmona is 23, i believe? they've got awhile to go, and both will be nasty in a couple years.

even if i don't like the yankees, i actually find joba kind of interesting, and i'm somewhat of a fan. maybe it's the name 'joba the hut', but something about him reminds me of a classic baseball...his image or something? i can't put a finger on it.

I can't wait to see him pitch on five days rest and give them 7 or 8 innings. I also wanna see is other pitches they say he has. We've only seen the fastball and slider. I think the change also a bit. I hear he has 4 above avg. pitches.
