I thought Wang had a week rest and was not pitching until toronto on tuesday? It would actually be better if Wang goes against KC because then he'll be lined up to start against boston

It's also better to keep him off the turf in Toronto and pitching him Sunday lines him up to pitch the series opener in Boston on Friday. Another factor is the low pitch count from Tuesday.

I don't know Duke Castiglione, know who he is. He's on FOX 5 now and when the NBA held their press conference regarding Tim Donaghy, David Stern appeared less than thrilled that he had to wait for Castiglione to finish his stand-up before starting.

    this made me LOL

He does! He comes in w/his shirt all open. How did he get that job?! I remember him when he was on Fox. Now they have that chick Rescia Canidate or whatever her name is.

I like how they show everything that happened in the ballgame on the highlights,
so if I missed the game I get a total recap

now I know this is the Yanks thread but how come they are playing football on Thursday now? Didn't it used to be only on Monday and Sunday?

Regarding A-Rod........won't he be the first Yankee righty to hit 50 HR? Trying to think of anyone other than Joe D. who hit more than 40 from the right side.

Hopefully the boys take care of business this weekend. No lead is big enough to keep me worry free.

You aren't the only one. It looked like the streak of perfection might be over.

Roger Clemens could return to Yankees rotation for start at Boston on Sept. 16

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Roger Clemens could return to the mound for the New York Yankees in their series finale at Boston on Sept. 16.

Clemens left Monday's start against Seattle after four innings and had a cortisone shot in his right elbow two days later. The seven-time Cy Young Award winner is 6-6 with a 4.45 ERA this season.

"I am sort of looking at the weekend in Boston as probably his next start," Yankees manager Joe Torre said before Friday's series opener against Kansas City. "But again, it all depends how he feels."

Torre said Clemens will meet up with the Yankees next week in Toronto.

Mike Mussina, dropped from the starting rotation last week, was scheduled to start Wednesday at Toronto, between rookies Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy. Andy Pettitte and Chien-Ming Wang are slated to start the first two games of the series at Fenway Park.

In terms of the blogs, I agree. I also like the NY Times Yankees blog. It's not updated as frequently but the posts are short and interesting. Those blogs are better than the Star Ledger one, which only posts lineups and news items.

from jayson stark's most recent rumblings on espn.com:

    Rumbling toward the Bronx
Even if Roger Clemens comes back and goes 6-0 in September and October, the feeling among baseball people who know him is that this is it -- his actual final season. Really. Finally. No kidding. One friend says: "I'd be shocked if he comes back -- anywhere. The impression I get is, this time it's just been too hard, physically."

Meanwhile, what does the future hold for Clemens' buddy, Andy Pettitte? He has a player option for next year at $16 million. And given the gruesome state of this winter's free-agent starting pitching market, we hear increasing speculation that Pettitte could opt out and bungee jump to the top of that market. There's no sign he's sincerely interested in going anywhere else, including back to Houston. But given the alternatives, the Yankees would have no choice but to inhale deeply, then cough up more years, more dollars or both.

Whether Pettitte's status is in play or not, think about all the prominent names whose place in the Yankees' universe will be hanging out there this winter: Clemens, Rivera, Jorge Posada, Joe Torre, Bobby Abreu and, oh yeah, A-Rod. The Yankees also need to figure out what they're going to do about Joba Chamberlain, Mike Mussina, Johnny Damon, Jason Giambi, first base and their bullpen with or without Rivera. So no wonder one prominent baseball man says: "Yankees baseball for the next decade will be determined by the results of this offseason … and all 4 million fans are watching."

One AL executive says he's starting to feel sorry for Phil Hughes -- because he may never be able to match all the hype that was laid on him before he arrived in New York.

"I think he's going to wind up being a No. 3 starter, and that's not bad," the exec says. "But people were led to believe he'd be more than that. It's going to be really hard for him to ever live up to all his expectations."

OK, one more Yankees note: A scout who recently followed the Yankees for a week gave this unsolicited monologue on Derek Jeter: "The more you see him play, the more you notice all the little things he does during the course of a game that, for the most part, go unnoticed. Just the fact that he's on that top step of the dugout, watching every single pitch, goes a long ways for me. The guy doesn't miss a pitch. He's never up there in the clubhouse, doing whatever, and just coming out for his at-bats. You never see that."
