    Red Sox Suck !

Home News & Opinion Local / Regional Local Coverage Yankee’s prank strikes out
    By Jason Millman
    Sunday, September 16, 2007 - Updated 10h ago

    Talk about sore winners.

Griffin Whitman, a 10-year-old Red Sox [team stats] fan from Swampscott, was excited to attend his first Yankees vs. Red Sox game Friday night. The young autograph -collector was even more thrilled to score Yankees outfielder Shelley Duncan’s signature before the game. That is, until Griffin read the message from the 27-year-old rookie: “Red Sox suck! Shelley Duncan.”

“It was cool to get his autograph,” Griffin said. “It didn’t make me feel happy when he wrote that.”

Griffin’s mother, Karen, blasted the Yankees slugger’s bad manners.

“This is someone who wears the Yankee uniform and is on the payroll and should be setting an example for 10-year-olds,” she said.

Duncan, son of St. Louis Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan, has become a fan favorite in the Bronx for hitting mammoth home runs since he was called up from the minors in July.

Yesterday afternoon, a Yankee spokesman declined to comment until he got a chance to speak to Duncan.

There's no honor amongst sportsmen. Very sad to hear this, I hope this child doesn't grow up to hold a grudge/animosity towards the Yankee organization.

Thought for a second that there wasn't a Yankee thread on this board.

Boston already lost, but the Tigers are still up. Good to see there isn't any Fenway hangover, at least not tonight.

    Lets' go.

  • especially since they dropped the previous three games following a red sox series. they lost to the angels, in chicago and to tampa bay. and also especially against a guy like Cabrera, who stinks but nearly threw a no-hitter here last year.

Hell of a comeback by the Viz getting Millar swinging.

A walk-off HR by Sizemore would be nice in a few minutes..

  • some facts and figures from tonight's Yankees game

The Yankees are 43-21 since the break, 36-14 in the last 50 home games and 21-9 at the Stadium since the break

Jorge Posada played in his 1423rd game. That's 19th place on the Yankees list, not necessarily a significant number but he tied Thurman Munson. Also he is 11-for-17 with three walks in his last 20 plate appearances at home and batting .432 (19-for-44) this month.

Phil hughes battled early, tired late but in between held the opposing team to two runs or less for the third straight start

Bobby Abreu - of his last 19 hits, 14 have been of the extra base hit variety

    So how does it work,
how many more games do the Yanks have to win, can they get the AL East title?

how many more games would Boston have to win?

or when could we clinch the wild card?

they can catch boston, no doubt. all they have to do is win, and the sox have to lose. i think we're 2.5 behind boston now, and i think they're magic number is still 9, so if they win 9 or more, the division is theirs.

as far as wild card goes, if we win just 6 of the remaining games and detroit wins the rest of theirs, we'll be tied.

i'm pretty sure that's how it's looking right now. as far as i'm concerned (and i'm sure all other yankee fans think this way too), fuck wild card.

we still have a chance at taking the division. boston's magic number is 9. so 5 wins from them and 4 losses from us and they're in. Ours is 7 for the wild card.
