true, but eventually the yankees will breakthrough against the angels. if the red sox broke through against the yankees at some point then i fully believe the yankees will do the same against the angels.

it's not like he's never hit in the post season. who knows if they had advanced to the alcs last year. he might've gotten a few hits. even if he strikes out 23 times he should be back next season.

Donnie has the most HR in those 8 games with 10. If Alex goes 8 games in a row. he will have 10 also. Unless he has another multiple HR game.

    Pitching Matchups:

Tonight: RHP Phil Hughes (2-3, 5.33) vs. RHP Shaun Marcum (12-5, 3.74), 7:05

Tomorrow: RHP Mike Mussina (8-10, 5.51) vs. RHP Dustin McGowan (10-8, 3.90), 7:05

    Thursday: RHP Ian Kennedy (1-0, 2.25) vs. RHP A.J. Burnett (8-7, 3.56), 7:05

At least we miss Halladay. Jays should be smarting after blowing a big lead late to the Tigers last night

missing halladay is nice for the yanks, but marcum and mcgowan have been great over the last few months and burnett is no chump. yanks will have to hope hughes' last start carries over - or will he get lit up again? i would bet they are just praying to get 3-5 innings from moose and so far the kid kennedy has looked good, but the jays have a much tougher line-up than the royals.

barring any rain outs or rotation shuffles (ie - clemens), that would set the yanks/sox weekend pitching match-ups as:

    daisuke vs. pettitte friday
    beckett vs. wang saturday
    schilling vs. hughes sunday

    the latest on roger...

Although the Yankees said his MRI came back negative, Roger Clemens said Tuesday that the test revealed ligament damage and internal bleeding in his forearm, adding that the muscle was "pretty nasty."

yeah, that doesn't sound good. looks like roger vs. schill on sunday night.

Hughes started off bad. But he finished big. retiring the last 12 of 13 batters he faced. I was hoping he would strike out more than 1.

his location was really bad early on, but he had enough movement on his pitches to get away with it for the most part. melky and damon bailed him out defensively.

he looked like he was too strong in the first few innings. that may actually be a good sign since he's still working his way back to full stength from those leg injuries.

the yankees got nine innings of solid rookie pitching tonight. edwar struck out five in two innings and ohlendorf had a promising debut.

    hughes: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
    ramirez: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
    ohlendorf: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

clemens' next start could get ugly...

no surprise, especially against the red sox. But when you relief options are Jon Switzer, Juan Salas and Jay Witasick, that's like waving the white flag.

That game would have been much worse if Brian Stokes made an appearance. That's a guy who has pitched 60 innings this season and given up 88 hits and 48 runs.
