"before the Yankees batted in the bottom of the first, an inspirational scene from the movie "Rudy" was shown on the scoreboard. That clip is usually saved for the late innings, when they need a rally.

But it was the Angels who pulled off the comeback." -ESPN.com

    DESPERATE but so enjoyable

i mean seriously this team hasnt been relevant since 2000

and man did i want to choke the bitch "oh my god roger clemens is a new york yankee!" seriously cut her voice box out!

Hey Guys I'm still in Fla and I've been following the low-ligts on ESPN

Guys things look really bleak! They even booed Joe?!!

Are we totally screwed? Can we come back from 12 1/2 out? I mean, I like to think positive, but geesh.

And have you guys seen that 61* HBO movie? I just saw it for the 1st time (I don't have HBO at home).

It was really good! How did they re-create the old Yankee stadium?

I'm a Red Sox fan, but I enjoyed *61 when I saw it a few years ago.

Here's what Billy Crystal did to recreate Yankee Stadium:

Yankee Stadium scenes were shot at a re-dressed Tiger Stadium in Detroit, Michigan in August of 2000. Infield seats at the stadium were painted green, and a partial third deck and 1961 Bronx skyline were added digitally in post-production.

Went to Yankee Stadium for the first time yesterday. Figured I better do it once while I still could. The crowd was depleted even when the Yankees were winning. I couldn't give a shit either way how they do, but the fans could get into a little bit more, IMO.

Oh wow! COOL! Thanks so much for that info, I appreciate it.

Yeah things do not look well in Yankee world :(

    <sigh>
I won't give up hope though, you never know what could happen. Things could happen.
The Mets were like, how many games back when they came back in '86? We could be the Miracle 07 Yankees or something! I'll try to stay positive. I'm glad I'm not home to watch these games though. I'd be throwing things :(

Heres to not making the playoffs!
And being swept by the Angels!

GG Yankees...loser team with an extremely high payroll.

PS Derek Jeter is the most overrated defensive player in the game

The lineup has gone to sleep. If some of these guys don't man up, they will be in the same position Boston was last year when the playoffs started.........making tee times. 11 straight AL East crowns and 12 straight playoff appearances are on the verge of ending.

113-0 for the Yankees. I called it first. They just gotta avoid bad pitchers. And umpires who are against them.

  • As a Yankee fan here are the moves I think should be made.

Sorry Cashman we need a true baseball GM. Buying guys just doesn't produce ballplayers nor a ballclub. Bring in young blood.

    Manager: Joe Girardi
1B: I like Mentkeiveick. Bring up Duncan from AAA to compliment.
    2B: Cano
    SS: Jeter
3B: A-Rod. Keep him. Even when he's bad he still has overall good #'s. He's just too talented.
    OF: Matsui
OF: Damon -- both are contract obligated. But put this pus on a strick off season routine so his body doesn't fall apart
OF: Call up a young guy full of fire
    OF reserve: Melky Cabrera
C: Posada. Heart & sole of this team. Bring up guy from minors as backup and learn from the man.

    Rotation:
Hughes--(revolve the team around this guy)
    Wang
    Petitte
    Karstens
Mussina (only bc he is stuck thru contract. not a muse fan)
    Sanchez/Ross O from -- AAA
    Keep MO!!!!

We need a ballclub. Not Celebrities!!

i fail to see how it will be great for baseball if one team doesn't make the playoffs. are you trying to say if the yankees don't make it and....oh, let's say the orioles do that the revenue produced will be tenfold of what it would have been if the yankees had made it? or that more people will tune in? just because it's "not the yankees"? lol, that's a pretty bold statement to make.

Yea I'm sure everyone wants to see Milwaukee. Baseball needs the Yanks in the playoffs just like hockey need the Rangers to make the playoffs. Just like the rest of the world needs the US to be a better country.

I read this theory in the paper in the op-ed page in 2004. Someone pointed out that whenever there is a republican for president the Yankees have never won the World Series.
