  • Better to suck now than in August or September. Hold tight, they'll be fine. I wouldn't be shocked to see Clemens here and Guidry gone sooner than later, though

I fell asleep in the 8th last night. Probably a good thing. At least I didnt get to see it get real ugly. Extra Innings was carrying the NESN feed too so that would have been even more unpleasant to watch. I still can't believe Andy fell apart like that last night. You could really see the frustration. It looked like he and Posada were having a lot of trouble communicating. And Posada looked like the old Jorgey who couldn't catch the baseball.
Still waiting for this team to have that big defining moment that results in the turn of the tide. They need an emotional lift. Probably tonight Karstens will give it to them in the form of a 2 hit shutout. ;)

Karstens - broken fibula - DL

Maybe Igawa's performance yesterday was that symbolic turning of the tide we have been waiting for. Early start today for Wang vs. Torres. Lets go Yanks and take 2 outa 3!

Interestingly enough, April games tend to count the same in the standings as August games or September games.

  • and in a surprise to nobody, we have a missive from general steinbrenner..

"The season is still very young, but up to now the results are clearly not acceptable to me or to Yankee fans. However, Brian Cashman, our general manager, Joe Torre, our manager, and our players all believe that they will turn this around quickly.

"I believe in them. I am here to support them in any way to help them accomplish this turnaround. It is time to put excuses and talk away. It is time to see if people are ready to step up and accept their responsibilities. It is time for all of them to show me and the fans what they are made of.

The Skankees, with the most expensive LOSING baseball team, is really great for all of MLB. This is something I think fan of every team can support! Baseball is better when the Skankees are sucking hind-tit.

I hate to say it, but anyone who believes the Yankees ARE the team that we have watched the past few weeks is crazy.

They will be there in the end, as always (losing to the Sox in the ALCS in 5 games :) ).

I do love this losing streak though. Yankee fans want to fire everyone and anyone when they start losing. The guys at work want to fire everybody from Cashman to the guy selling beer in section 4. It gets ridiculous. Lets fire the guy that has won 9 straight AL Easts ????
All that's sacred, comes from youth....dedications, naive and true.

Thats what you get with Yankee fans. It was the same way with A-Rod until this year. He wasn't performing and wasn't liked. He has a legendary start to the season and now hes worshiped by every Yankee fan. The season is still young so don't count the Yankees out of the playoffs yet.

I hope May starts off better than April ended. Things are looking bleak in Yankee world :(

Well at least Moose is coming back soon, that should be helpful.

On a semi related note, did yous guys see Joe Torres brother Frank is having kidney transplant surgery. I hope he will be ok.

Yeah, its no wonder Joe doesn't even bat an eye when Steinbrenner starts barking. All the adversity he's been through with himself and his family.

    Hughes going tonight. Game time.

He can't fire him mid season... I don't think.. he won't get his $'s worth.. or at least not in April... maybe this month if things don't improve... I think George just runs his mouth to try to 'scare' everyone into winning..

Is that Bobby Murcer back on the broadcast? Good to hear him back.. And Ken Singleton, his father passed away recently...

  • What the hell type of training / strenght & conditioning staff is on this damn team????????????
How is it that again this year there are an unheard of amount of injuries to these supposed pro athletes. With the exception of Karstens.
Not even an NFL team has the percantage of lenghthy injuries as the Yanks.
And football is just a bit more aggressive and physically demanding.
Forget the pads, metal hemets, and 350 pounders.

Gotta feel sorry for the kid. His second major league start and he's got a no-no going in the 7th. Then, pop. He said he had the same thing happen to him once when he was in high school. Hope it isn't something that will follow him. At least Moose is back this week. Now they have to figure out who the fifth starter is until Pavano is back. Does Ross Ohlendorf get his chance or do they go back to Rasner or Wright?
I can't remember ever seeing a team have this many injuries to their starting rotation in such a short amount of time.

they hired a new strength and conditioning coach this year. apparently he's never worked in baseball before.

i'm not saying it's necessarily his fault, but it really does make you think.

and in a suprise to nobody (From the Yankees blog on the journal news):

Carl Pavano felt something in his right arm during his bullpen and shut it down after a few minutes. You have to hand it to the Rajah of Rehab, he’s consistent.

i prefer the term "american idle" or possibly "NASCARL."

is this new? i didn't even realize he was throwing again. i just naturally assumed when he first got injured that he was out for the year.

  • Abreu,Damon, Matsui are both 1 for the last 89 i think. A-rod and Cano are not hitting so well now either. Might be time to send this new hitting coach packing as well.
