Yeah, it seems like the Bears have taken on the same model as the Cubs (up until recently) of spending next to nothing and hoping to catch lightning in a bottle.
Honestly, the Bears often frustrate me more than the Cubs do. The Cubs (anymore) at least try to put a good team on the field, then fail :(. With the Bears, it's like they don't even try.

Yeah, the Bears are definitely the most frustrating team in Chicago. I think Speedy mentioned earlier that the only guys I wouldn't touch on this team are Briggs and Forte. I would prob add Hester to that list since his numbers suffered last year because of the QB play. But other than those 3, I wouldn't be pissed if anyone else were traded/released.
As for the Cubs....I'm a Sox fan so I don't feel your pain on that one.
Someone should change this to the 2009 Bears thread.
Anyway, my idea for the Bears if Jay Cutler is not available is to trade for Vince Young. Yep. I know he may be a headcase but he's gonna be 3rd string in Tenn for some reason and could really open up the offense for Chicago. Especially since they have something against hiring WRs. They need to get a WR in the draft badly.
I bet they could get Vince Young for a 3rd rounder. Seriously.
Otherwise I think Urlacher is easy trade bate and Hester should not be untouchable either. They need safety help too. They have so many holes and that front office does nothing.
I'm a Dolphins fan living in Chicago and hate watching the Bears, not because I don't like the team, but because the front office and coaching staff are morons happy with the status quo.
New screenname for the new site. At least for now. Previously Lackofdave

I'm still pissed that they didn't go after Leftwich. They guy opted to go to the Steelers as a backup when he could have been paid a ton more to go to a team and start. He would have been a great fit with the Bears. For a team that has a shitty O-line that generally requires a QB to scramble around a bit and not having ANY QB that fits that description, Leftwich would have been a great fit. Grrrrr!
But yeah, I agree with you on Young. The guy is done in TN and unless he finds another out, he may have dug his own hole...deep.

Has Leftwich signed anywhere yet? I would love the Bears to bring him in and give him a shot. He finally got healthy by being backup last year. He had so many injuries that I think he just needed a year off. I think he still has some potential to be a solid starting QB.
Angelo better have a great draft. I think he knows him and Lovie are on the hot seat going into this season and they need to get their shit together and get back to the playoffs.
I'm not sure the specifics of the contract Leftwich signed in Pittsburgh.
Even though he did win a Superbowl ring, I'd imagine he'd want to start and make some real money and a real name for himself. He's still very young and has more talent in his little finger than Orton does in his whole body.
I think that if Ben Rothlesberger tanked last year he'd have a legit shot at the spot, but that was very much not the case. Big Ben is franchise and unless he wants to remain a career backup he'd have to go elsewhere.
I thought and still think he'd be a great fit in Chicago. Although if I was a QB I can't imagine ever wanting to play in Chicago...as that is typically where QBs go to end their careers.

Was very impressed with that offense!
Wow!
Cutler looked a LOT better than last week. So nice having a guy who can move around in and out of the pocket and still read the field.
Forte also looked incredible. I think if he stays healthy, he should surpass the numbers he put up last year.
Can't wait for the season to start!!
