How did I miss this thread? I was waiting for one to start

  • Well at least we don't have to worry about Benson anymore. Just wish he would have gotten cut for his shitty performance on the field, instead of his off the field bullshit. What a waste of a top 5 pick.

I am fairly certain the Bears will go out and sign a veteran RB to compete with Forte for the starting job. Shaun Alexander might be a bit of a stretch, but who knows, pretty sure he hasn't found a job yet.

We needed a RB even if we did not cut him. Man I miss Thomas Jones!

Look at the guys that were drafted behind Benson.
RBs - Cadillac Williams, Frank Gore, Marion Barber

Did we need to draft a RB that year? Look at these Pro Bowlers
LBs - Demarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman, Lofa Tatupu
O line- Jammal Brown, Logan Mankins
    CB - Justin Miller
    WR - Jerome Mathis
    QB - Derek Anderson

It is easy to 2nd guess a draft pick 3 years later but yet again the Bears missed on this one.

Where are these #1 draft picks?
    Michael Haynes 2003
Marc Colombo 2002 (Unfortunate injury. I think he is a Cowboy still)
    David Terrell 2001
    Cade McNown 1999
    Curtis Enis 1998

They most certainly didn't need a RB when they drafted Benson. I'll give them a pass on Derek Anderson though, hindsight is 20/20.

Way too many 1st round offensive picks that have just been terrible busts, the list goes on and on. Luckily they seem to do alright with drafting defensive players, even in the later rounds.

I threw Anderson in there since I wanted them to go get him this offseason.

Angelo is a defensive guy. He needs some help with the offense and it shows every Sunday. I could list all of the defensive guys he has drafted that have turned out great. I cant complaign about Tommie Harris and Urlacher.

Hey, Bears fans gotta question to ask ya.

How's Matt Forte looking so far in the preseason. I have him as a back up RB in my Fantasy league. The computer drafted him for me since I ran out of time.

he is good but he isn't a game-breaker, and the o-line he runs behind is one of the worst in the league. he'll probably average 3.2 - 3.4 ypc, 1000 - 1200 yards, 6 to 8 td's. He will get the most touches for the Bears this year so he isn't a bad 3rd RB to have on your roster.

The Bears are going to be one of the worst teams in the league this year... if not THE worst. I said seven wins earlier but now seeing that the defense is playing poorly... I'm predicting 4 or 5 wins.

We need a change of ownership and to liquidate the entire team, except for Tommie Harris, Devin Hester, Greg Olsen, Lance Briggs, Robbie Gould, Matt Forte (good 2nd RB), and a few other 1st, 2nd year guys that could develop into role players.

The entire offensive line has to be replaced within the next two to three years. The game is still won in the trenches and this is obviously not a good situation.

The defense was good because of the system Ron Rivera ran... now that he is gone they will be average at best. Urlacher is past his prime and his injuries exacerbate his aging.

Not a good time to be a Bears fan.

I write a Chicago Bears football blog. I tried to blog alot during the season, but got very busy. My time freed up a bit so I'm going to start blogging more and especially about offseason moves.

    Anyway check it out:

It's not looking good, HOWEVER, Kyle Orton has some strange swagger to him that makes me think he may be a surprise.

Still, I'd KILL for 9-7 for the Bears this year.

  • Bears will be lucky if they win four games they probably have the worst offense in the NFC.

Thanks, yeah I just dropped him for DeAngelo Williams, I had too many WRs, trying to put more RB/QB's in there on my bench.

  • Anyone else find themselves looking at some of the recently released players and thinking, "Hey, da Bears should pick him up?" You know it's bad when you want guys that couldn't even cut it as scrubs for other teams on your own. But seriously, they should consider:

Rudi Johnson-I know he's been hurting and really not that good, but c'mon he's gotta be better than Garrett Wolfe.
Andre Woodson-QB they should've drafted in the 7th round, won't have to play right away and can take his time learning the system. Very productive in college and is pretty athletic. I mean, Caleb Hanie as the 3rd QB and the only one signed for next year!??

There are a few more that I saw, like Chad Jackson and some O-linemen. Maybe it's just my lack of faith, but these are just offensive players that I'm worried about. With the way the defense looked in preseason action, yikes. I was somewhat optimistic a month ago, thinking we could rely on a strong defense and special teams and just have the offense score occasionally but mostly just manage the game. Now, I'm thinking 5 wins would be impressive.
He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share, his key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere.

Anytime Wolfe has been given even half a shot, he has done something good with it. I'd love to see him as the Dennis Gentry type back, 3rd down, slot back, etc.

Eh, I wouldn't say anytime. He has shown good signs as a pass-catcher out of the backfield, but I think he's ineffective running the ball (granted the o-line does him no favors). I have nothing against Wolfe, I actually like him a lot. Chicago boy, went to Northern, now playing for his hometown team. I just think it would be an upgrade. I already think the have more of a 3rd down back in Adrian the other Peterson. I'm more pissed they keep wasting draft picks on injury-prone guys.

  • Any interest in doing the Bears score predictions again like the last two years? I can keep track of the predictions, and who wins each week. Though if its a shitty season there won't be as much interest as last year.

This is going to be a LONG season..... I love the bears, but I have a feeling this could be painful.....
  • I see 3 possible outcomes for Sunday's game...

    1) Bears D picks up the slack and the Colts win a close one.

    Colts 28 - Bears 24

    2) Bears offense makes a statement, goes into Indy, and does the unthinkable. Forte/Jones combine for 200 yards and 2 TDs. And Manning doesn't look completely healthy.

    Bears 24 - Colts 17

    3) The probable outcome...

    Colts 78 - Bears 9

    But I'm a homer...go Bears.

    I'm picking them to win.
