    why 'should' I?

Once I give a shit about getting the job done, shouldn't that be all that matters? What about naturally ugly people? They're kinda fucked in this world of yours aren't they? Should they not be allowed work at all? :o That's kinda mean.

ur saying u dont care how u look... i think thats a joke

ugly faces have nothing to do with this

why not? If it's all about looks and image... well an ugly face can do a hell of a lot of damage surely

and no, it's not a joke. I clean myself and stuff and buy new clothes and I don't look like a bum but that's mainly cos I'm hygienic, not vain. I do it for myself.

well that's just strange then. See this is where some people think I'm being argumentative but I find it hard to understand why, in industries where it's 'important' to look good, an ugly face doesn't matter?

Actually we interview by phone if possible, and dress as exquisitely as possible to draw attention away from that which can't be changed. We also tend to get put in a corner or dark room and ignored before long, so by that point it doesn't matter what we look like. I wear jeans and the same sweater every day.

it shouldnt matter,, u cant wake up and help an ugly face
    I THINK PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT
but u can wake up ,,shower and put on some nice clothes( like the other 90% of ur office)

that's a silly argument... why are most of them dressed up in the first place? :o

This thread proves how shallow people can be... what does it really matter what somebody else is wearing. It really is all about appearance, isn't it? wow

Would you let a guy who hasn't combed his hair in a week dressed in jeans and a cardigan with holes for his thumbs negotiate your mortgage? Or sell you a Lexus?

We lack the social skills and personal confidence for such an endeavor to ever succeed....unless it is an internet company.

honestly... if he seemed to know what he was doing, yes! What's it about a suit that suddenly makes somebody trustworthy? It makes them smarmy looking!

WHY ARE WE DRESSED up? because them are the rules
and down here its normal (as in most professional buisness offices)

AND THE WHOLE OFFICE DOES IT ,,SO THESE FEW PEOPLE SHOULD ALSO

    It's just common business attire.
Bankers and lawyers (as an example) wear suits, they're not all shallow.

Like I said, if we can get the job without a face to face interview, it's too late for the boss.
Looks don't matter so much with so many IT and computer related jobs however.

Ah HA... the 'lemming' argument :) good one!

You're going around in circles without answering any of my questions. WHY should it be necessary? Because it's the rules? That's not an answer! Because everyone else does? That's not an answer either

why is it necessary? because it is a requirement for the company i work for, and they are paying me a good buck to show up in their "evil wardrobes" to preform my job.

if it's not your cup of tea, find a job more suiting (pun!) for yourself and move on with your life.

but why isn't it ok? and why does it bother you so much what other people wear to work  I'd really like answers to these... but you can keep avoiding it.

I hope you're not spending too much time thinking about it when you should be doing your work
