Where do people find this crap? Seriously. Mainstream scholarly research coupled with scientific carbon dating of the gospels place them firmly within the timeframe of eyewitnesses. If you don't believe in the divinity of the historical Jesus, that is absolutely fine by me. All i ask is people please, please, please stop with this crap that even atheist scholars laugh at.

That seems like a perfectly reasonable request.

I'm certainly no expert, but I did look into this some years back and it seemed to me that there was very little reason to doubt that the historical Jesus did exist. I'll leave the divinity aspect alone, but I don't think he's a work of fiction.

    Merry Christmas, cornnifer :)

    Oh I believe Jesus existed.

But all the religions, in my opinion, are all hoaxes. it's a farce.

Do you believe in morals or integrity or anything like that..

because those are beliefs - There is no scientific basis..

Those are similarly hoaxes... Not nice to call what people belive in a hoax... we all have beliefs -

That was a question. Not a statement.

Please provide just one piece of evidence that supports the 'historical Jesus'. Just one.

Please provide one piece of evidence which supports the historical Jesus. This topic has already been discussed on the board and nobody could provide a single shred of evidence to support the view that Jesus existed when he is said to have done. Why is this nonsense continuing?

I actually found a subject that Byrnzie and I agree on! Actually the post was meant to spur debate about the underpinings of Christianity, not the life of Jesus. There is some historical evidence of Jesus. But it is very very scant. What is even more scant is the issue of who he was and what he really did. One has to look at when the New Testament was compiled and who compiled it and why.

I was hoping to spur some true historical debate. But I now find myself on the same side of the coin as A and B. Funny how that happens....

The question is really, to make it simple, did he really do all that shit that book said he did? Or was there something else really going on....
