And sadly most people like yourself know next to nothing about how wars are fought or how third world politics work. As I have just explained, your understanding of the realities of battlefield tactics and the politics of the affected governments is very limited to only what you want to believe.

The media is controlling the war?

3 separate American/NATO strikes on civilians in the last 3 days alone. One of the strikes reportedly killed at least 108 civilians in Afghanistan. You won't win a war that way, you'll simply piss people off and create more enemies.

In fact, they're so pissed off that they can't stop asking the US and NATO to leave...oh wait...where does it say that?

Also, you make it sound as though NATO is purposely bombing civilians. That is, you take it upon yourself to be the one to inform us that wars can't be won by bombing civilians. You might not know this, but NATO is already aware of this.

    Also...
The report was denied by a NATO spokesman and could not immediately be confirmed from other sources.
“We’re aware of the reports of civilian casualties but none of it tracks with the information we have, which is pretty extensive,” he said. “In both cases, we had good reconnaissance before and after.”

I understand that NATO spokesmen shouldn't be trusted 100% of the time, but to put that much faith in "local witnesses" is just as disturbing. You could at least pay lip service to the NATO responses, but I guess that wouldn't work well with the propaganda.

Again....where do you see the afganis calling for NATO and the US to leave? So, what is this talk about making enemies?

First of all, who said they are doing it purposely ? Not me. Whether its intentional or not is irrelevent - what matters is that they continue to do it knowing that civilians will be killed. Check that - they continue to do it knowing that, based on past performance, often more civilians will be killed than the intended target. Moreover, they continue to do it irrespective of the wishes of, or co-operation with, local officials. The way they are going about it is counterproductive to their cause. What I really find funny is that there are people on this board who very recently suggested that these bombings weren't taking place at all !!

But lets move on to this issue you re-hash again and again, namely that people in that part of the world are begging them to stay. I would have to disagree in part. If you're in Iraq, where many of the same transgressions are happening, something like 80% of the people want the U.S. gone. They just can't stand the bullshit being perpetrated by the U.S. anymore. You have to be able to separate what the people want, and what the gov't says it wants. They aren't the same thing.

A similar dynamic holds true in Afghanistan. Of course Karzai doesn't want the U.S./NATO gone. But he doesn't speak for much of the Afghani people. How could he (?), when at least 1/3 of people in that country actually support the Taliban, and where the rest are quickly losing faith in how military operations are being carried out by NATO/U.S. forces. Why do you think Karzai is being so vocal with the Americans about their actions ? He is simultaneously saving face with the Afghani people, while warning the U.S. about the ramifications of killing so many people. Get it ?! Besides, Karzai is America's bitch - he won an election where he had huge support from the american gov't and where other candidates were never given a fair shot at being elected. That he is speaking out aginst the U.S. speaks volumes about whats happening.

Sponger, you have to move beyond couching these bombings simply in terms of whether or not the U.S./NATO is being asked to leave. Its self-serving for your argument and denies other important issues, not the least of which is the cost of humans biing killed for marginal or no gain.
