No -- it's those of you who build an immigration policy that treats both sides of the spectrum equally that ruin it in the name of them all.

If you treat all illegal immigrants as criminal leeches, do not complain about those who ruin the name of all illegal immigrants.

I'm sorry, you cannot have it both ways. If your freedoms and rights to participate in this nation are derived from your work and your lawful behavior (rather than vice versa), those freedoms and those rights are at the mercy of those for who you work and those who you obey. Which in turn means they can all be lost at the whim of another.

Freedoms and rights come first. For all people.
Who said that your freedoms and rights to participate in this nation are derived from your work and lawful behavior? If I didn't work, I wouldn't expect the benifits that others have to work for though!

are you saying only "illegals" do the things you've mentioned...? talk about black and white...

question: have you ever had any dealings with the immigrant population...?

I really want to know how this 700 mile fence will stop the illegal immigration from Europe, Asia, Canada, and Africa. Evereyone is so focused on the Hispanic illegal immigrates, and granted they are the majority, but the others I mentioned still constitute about 40% of the illegals in this country. It just seems to me that the illegal immigration issue has morphed into a hispanic illegal immigration issue. People don't seem to mind the illegal woman from Ireland serving them their meal at the pub, but it burns them to see Pedro putting up some drywall.

I'm missing your point here...are you saying it's only now a problem because Non-Americans are abusing the system...? if so, are you ok with only Americans abusing the system...?

No, i'm not saying only illegals do the things i've mentioned!!!!!!!!!!!! That spin got put on my argument by that "farfromglorified" dude.
Answer: I work with illegal immigrants EVERY SINGLE DAY for I am a social worker. Most of them are hard working individuals and evey they complain about those who only come to the US for the welfare.

    fair enough...

I, too, have the pleasure of working with the immigrant population...who tend to be the nicest, most gracious, and respectful people I work with...

as for the welfare system...as I've said, that's a system problem, with little or no system of checks and balances...which a topic for it's own thread....

Exactly, now you're starting to get my point though! Instead of building some stupid fence, we need to find a solution to a system that is open to abuse.

You did. When I asked on what grounds you had a right to participate in this nation, your reply to me was:

"Grounds.........hmmm, I pay for my house, tv, vehicle........I pay taxes and insurance for my medical benifits..........I legally participate"
If I didn't work, I wouldn't expect the benifits that others have to work for though!

You may expect or not expect whatever you like. But if you expect others to believe their freedoms and rights only come from your judgments on how valuable their labor is or how much tribute they've given to you, expect to be disappointed.

I agree, the fact that they only focus on the Mexican border is enough for me to know that it is all political bullshit. Puerto Rico is another point of entry for many illegal immigrants. Cubans, Dominicans, Haitians, Chinese you name it. The coast gaurd intercepts many boats filled with illegals on a weekly basis. Once in the island they can travel to the US freely without going thru customs. Its a sinch.

Here you say that most of them are hard working but in a previous post you say:
"Unless there are a overwhelming number of immigrants doing so.........." speaking of abusing the system....

    Contradictory...

No, don't get me wrong, I was merely stating that there are a lot of hard working immigrants, but there is also an overwhelming number of them doing so. I get to see both sides.

You misquoted yourself.........You asked "what grounds you have to participate in this nations wonders" In which I assumed you meant benifits.
Again, stop spinning what i'm saying, it makes you look stupid.

I did not misquote myself. You just did above by adding the word "benefits" to my statement. If you reread my posts throughout this thread you'll see that I in no way expect you or anyone else to provide monetary support to illegal immigrants. However, I am advising you that if you want your freedoms and your rights to have any meaning whatsoever, you would be wise to recognize those same freedoms and rights in every human being on this planet, regardless of whatever political label you wish to affix to them.

With the exception of Canada I'm pretty sure they don't drive or take the train here.

I cant walk 25 feet without bumping into an illegal hispanic in my town. I don't really encounter many illegal Irish women. Maybe that explains my personal concern with MEXICAN illegals being far more up front in my mind than the illegal Irish barmaid problem.

Well shouldn't we be concered with illegal immigrants as a whole and not just the ones we bump into more often. Secondly not all hispanic illegals are Mexican. A large percentage are actually El Salvadorians, Hondurans, and Guatamalens.

Who cares? If you don't like where you're living, MOVE. Those immigrants did just that. I wish we could come and go and work and live wherever we please.

Here are some numbers for you. As og Jan. 2006 it is estimated that there are about 6.8 million illegal immigrants from Mexico. 3 million for other Central and South American countries so not all of them are MEXICANS.

How do you know this? I see Hispanic people all the time too, but I can't tell if they're here legally just by looking at them. Is there some secret code that I'm not in on?

Illegal Aliens are all breaking the LAW by being in this country, no matter where they have come from. They are not entitled to and should not receive any services that the US has to offer. They should not be allowed to work here, they should not be allowed to sleep here ( well maybe in a jail cell while they wait for transport back to their country ). They most certainly should not be out in the streets protesting for rights(they have none).
We have our own problems in this country that we need to focus on. We are the most powerful country in the world and yet some sections are like 3rd world countries. We need to put America first and worry about everyone else's problems when we get to it. I am all for rounding them all up even the ANCHOR babies and sending them back. Then we bill their home country for services rendered.

why do you keep bumping into them? don't you open your eyes... that way you would see the neon sign above them flashing their "illegal" status...

ironically the mexicans in texas and what not used to be able to roam and hunt in that land as they wished... it wasnt until the white immigrants came and shot them and created an american border that they became 'immigrants' trying to get back onto their own soil!!! how fucked up is that?!?!
