Still don't think the recent line of Obama slandering is racist in nature?

I have no doubt that people were using the racist pastor of Obama's church to bolster their own brand of racism.

I also have no doubt that there are people who wonder about Obama's judgement in this matter and are being branded racists by PC Obama supporters to try to get them to stop questioning his lapse in judgement.

  • I'm not sure where you live, but I live in Maine, there aren't a lot of black people here. I have a friend who plays on the college football team who is black, and we have a mutual white female friend. You should see the looks they get when we go out in public, and they aren't even dating. It is a bunch of bullshit, constantly looks of "Here is another black guy taking our white women" and people stare at them with looks of disgust, I mean stare. They aren't doing that when just her and I are out in public, neither one of them is horribly disfigured, there is only one reason they stare and get offended and it is pretty fucking obvious.

And yes if people are racist then they are not going to publicly express it, but the sure as shit won't vote for a black guy simply because he's black. To me thats worse than saying you are racist, at least that takes balls.

Thats like saying, if people don't show it that means it doesn't exist. Are you fucking kidding me?

I live in SC and there are a lot of black people living here. And it's common place to see bi-racial couples out. There's no awkwardness or stares. In high school, our senior year, the quarterback, a really popular white guy, took a black girl to the prom. She was a really nice girl, funny and super smart, on the student council, a cheerleader...the match made sense. No one acted weird about it. People loved her because we all didn't see her being a different race, we saw her for who he was. I feel like that's how most people are.

There will always be people who may be racist, sexist or whatever that have these opinions no matter how society has moved past this mentality. We can't do anything but continue to live our lives the right way, by being accepting and understanding of our differences. Most people in this country do not harbor racist sentiments. Look at the outcry in the media when someone makes a boneheaded remark like Imus...people cry for him to lose his job, just for a dumb remark he already apologized for. So to act like our nation is still gripped by racism and unequal treatment seems silly to me especially considering the amount of progress we've made and wounds we have been healing for decades. I mean, whose top concerns for the upcoming election this year include race relations in this country? I don't see many threads about it here except for the occasional complaint of people being overly PC.

He is. Apparently reverend Wright isn't the hatemonger he has been caricatured as to destroy Obama in typical American racist fashion. Either that or the clinton's hate white folks too.

Or maybe he is just like his pal, Obama, who says one thing while doing another?

  • For those of you who agree that context is very important, not just a clip (Which I hope is all of us) here is an excellent article about the now famous Rev. Wright sermon about 9/11.

I was taught a month ago to bide my time and take it slow, but then I learned just yesterday to rush and never waste a day. Now I'm convinced the whole day long that all I've learned is always wrong. Things are true that I forget, but no one taught that to me yet

This has what to do with Wright's racist and paranoid remarks about white people?

Nothing. It has everything to do with taking words out of context. I'm not sure how that isn't obvious to you?

Taken out of context? Even Obama said he disagreed with Wright's remarks...so which is it? Does Obama think Wright's comments were simply taken out of context or does he strongly disagree with them?

Abook, I am pretty sure we were talking about this. Funny how you keep bringing Obama into this.

easily distracted people focused on 3 minutes worth of youtube snippets for some guys pastor speaking out against the tragic american race relations and american foreign policy of violence

I don't even have cable tv.

Americans just love to tear Bush down...it's never based on any truth.

So now you are comparing Bush to Obama??? You should start a career writing comedy.

Because I assume you're saying Wright's remarks regarding race relations were also taken out of context. Am I wrong here? If I am then what is the point of the link when we are discussing the his racial remarks?

I brought up Obama because he has said Wright was wrong wityh sayng the things he did and not simply 'taken out of context'. Am I wrong here? If not, then do you agree with Obama in saying he disagrees with Wright's remarks?

No, I'm addressing the write off on this issue as being 'america just wanting to tear someone down'.

    Is it clear now?

I have to go to work so I don't have time for a long response. It's not just the racial issues many Americans have issue with. They also think the pastor is anti-American because other sermons like his 9-11 one were taken out of context as well. I understand you don't watch tv, but if caught a glimpse of what is going on at FOX news you would understand. I'll get to the racial stuff later.

My point is that sometimes when america is criticizing something they have good reason.

And there is reason here to be critical. I don't know what Fox News is doing but the posts here aren't Fox news so I didn't understand your point if you didn't clearly see how my point addressed yours.
