Because you had replied to Jamie about him asking about whether or not ag's ish was wish other 'minority' groups or something like that.
My apologies.
and in that reply i used Japan, Nigeria and Ethiopa... not the US.
no need to apologise.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
We had our very own apartheid, here in America.
Blacks were forced to live in ghettos. They were segregated and alienated by the country they were a part of.
The happened in this century and is continued today.
Read about the Great Migration and you will learn how blacks were treated post civil war, up here in the great North where we fought for their supposed freedom. We denied them services, access to markets and refused mortgages where in many cases they had the money.
I don't think you are a racist. I never said that. Never having met you, I don't find it in my best interest to judge you.
I don't know if you want to or even like plays. But if you come across some of the work of August Wilson, particularly a play called Fences, you will find what it was like to live in a ghetto.
oops....meant last century. my how time flies.
Well , they are not FORCED to live in the ghetto now are they? I have friends who are black who do not. ANd why don't they? Because they work hard to live in a normal area. The ones who CHOOSE to live there now either are lazy as all hell, are on drugs, or are crooks. I live in a nice area but I work in Atlantic City and know all about the ghetto you speak of. Do you? Have you ever spent time in a bad bad area? Doubt it. The ones who live in the ghetto learn to work and abuse the system. Thats why I don't like the Democratic party. They allow these peole to abuse the system, but thats another story. Anyhow, they live in the ghetto and abuse the system but getting to live in goverment housing, use goverment money and receive goverment food. I know this way of life well and its bullshit.
You want to get out of the ghetto? Get off your ass, KEEP a job! And save your money like I do and live a normal life.
But no, that will not happen because they are the want everything and don't want to give nothing and we allow it. We create many many ways to help them and it does not work. Woe is fucking me!

Slavery 'ended' in the US around 1865. That was about 145 years ago. The great grandchildren of slaves are alive in this country.
It is not my place to judge how someone wants to view and celebrate the history of their people. Accoustic Guy's favorite month must be February. lol
Ah so it ended about 16 years after our great famine????? Yeh, I think the Brits were still being assholes to us then too. Oh yeh, that only 'ended' recently. I bring it up HERE quite a bit to show parallels with other historical issues... but in general Irish people just bloody get on with it and don't go on about what we're owed... (which is quite a bit by the way )

The typical argument as I often here it Dunk is that White people own everything and therefore the entire culture already celebrates them.
I'm willing to bet that there are more black people than the MINORITY of white people who own everything... thereby making the rich white a minority :( awwwww!

Place the shoe on the other foot...
If you want there to be a United White College Fund... or White Entertainment Television station... or a Miss White America Pageant... then, you would have to turn over all power of the government, corporations, businesses, etc... to the black folk. Your televisions would overwhelmingly consist of shows like 'House of Payne' and your entertainment would be more like 'Night At The Apollo', every night.
Imagine being the minority and everything favors the black people.
...
Then, you can have your Miss White America Pageant. You'd like that trade off, wouldn't you?

There is nothing that says a black man cannot run for office. There are lots of succesful professional black people out there too. Everything does not favor black people. To say turn over the government, corporations... is ridiculous they can run for office, be a ceo or business owner just as easy as a me.

Speak in general terms... compare the programming you see on television... the C.E.O.s of corporations... the people in government. Do you really believe it is 50/50?

considered racist.

This is NOT about Black people bitching... this is White people bitching about black people getting a little slice of the pie. Who cares if there's a Miss Black America Pageant? Crying about that is meaningless.

That's sweet as.
I've been to NY, though it was years ago I'm sure you have intergration issues that go beyond the UK. Most black people I've ever intimately spoken to can claim only latent racism, mixed race relationships over here(main cities) are nothing unusual. West Indian immigrants arrived on these shores piss-poor by choice, they have and still do face disadvantages white people are immune to but it's something they have to overcome and not cave in over. Looking towards America has been their comedown,
A homie in the bronx said I spoke like 'crocodile dundee'
It is! Its my birthday month!
I am not racist woman. I have a reason to feel the way I do but its not racist.
I agree they learn from their elders and they need to understand where they came from. But, The people today who were NEVER slaves act like they are owed something for what they have been through. They have not been through shit! They have only been given everything. We bend over backwards for the minorities and yet they want more and call out racisism every chance they get.
Given everything? You seem to believe that black people have it easier than white people in America... perhaps you should check out Peggy McIntosh's list. Go ahead and make note of the ones that apply to you.
1. I can arrange to be in the company of people of my race most of the time.
2. I can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed or harassed.
3. I can turn on the television or open to the front page of the paper and see people of my race widely represented.
4. When I am told about our national heritage or about “civilization,” I am shown that people of my color made it what it is.
5. I can be sure that my children will be given curricular materials that testify to the existence of their race.
6. I can go into a music shop and count on finding the music of my race represented, into a supermarket and find the food I grew up with, into a hairdresser’s shop and find someone who can deal with my hair.
7. Whether I use checks, credit cards, or cash, I can count on my skin color not to work against the appearance of financial responsibility.
8. I am not made acutely aware that my shape, bearing, or body odor will be taken as a reflection on my race.
9. I can worry about racism without being seen as self-interested or self-seeking.
10. I can take a job or enroll in a college with an affirmative action policy without having my co-workers or peers assume I got it because of my race.
11. I can be late to a meeting without having the lateness reflect on my race.
12. I can choose public accommodation with out fearing that people of my race cannot get in or will be mistreated.
13. I am never asked to speak for all of the people of my racial group.
14. I can be pretty sure that if I ask to talk with the “person in charge” I will be facing a person of my race.
15. If a traffic cop pulls me over or if the IRS audits my tax return, I can be sure I haven’t been singled out because of my race.
16. I can easily by posters, postcards, picture books, greeting cards, dolls, toys, and children’s magazines featuring people of my race.
17. I can choose blemish cover or bandages in “flesh” color and have them more or less match my skin.
18. I can do well in a challenging situation without being called a credit to my race.
19. I can walk into a classroom and know I will not be the only member of my race.
20. I can enroll in a class at college and be sure that the majority of my professors will be of my race.
That list doesn't even include the obvious things like the gigantic education gap or pay gap between white people and black people.
Well , they are not FORCED to live in the ghetto now are they? I have friends who are black who do not. ANd why don't they? Because they work hard to live in a normal area. But no, that will not happen because they are the want everything and don't want to give nothing and we allow it. We create many many ways to help them and it does not work. Woe is fucking me!
Where to begin with this. First of all, people in the ghetto often don't "CHOOSE" to be there. Most would love to get out, but it's just not possible. I would love to see you try to escape the inner city when your high school education was piss-poor, making it very difficult for you to get a good job where you can move up a ladder. It's not that they're lazy and they refuse to work hard... it's that everything is stacked up against them. The education system in inner cities is massively swept under the carpet, but its one of the biggest causes of the economic inequality between whites and blacks today... it's so broken that most kids drop out, and the ones who graduate and somehow can afford to go to college often drop out of that too because they were so poorly prepared by their high school.
Sure, there's no law preventing black people from taking office or being a CEO, but it goes deeper than that. The system is structured in a way that stacks up the odds against inner city residents, who are primarily black, to succeed. And that doesn't even include the list above of social disadvantages.
Acousticguy, you really have to read about this stuff before you run your mouth off. Just because you were born into a situation where you can live your American Dream doesn't mean everyone can. Also, give up with the whole "I know black people" angle. Talking to a few suburban black people doesn't make you an expert on black issues in inner cities.
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win

4. When I am told about our national heritage or about “civilization,” I am shown that people of my color made it what it is.
Huh? Black people can't be taught that they're part of civilisation?
5. I can be sure that my children will be given curricular materials that testify to the existence of their race.
See no. 4.
6. I can go into a music shop and count on finding the music of my race represented, into a supermarket and find the food I grew up with, into a hairdresser’s shop and find someone who can deal with my hair.
I don't think anyone's complaining about that. There are plenty of black or chinese hairdressers in Dublin... there are almost more Polish food shops than Irish supermarkets at this stage.
7. Whether I use checks, credit cards, or cash, I can count on my skin color not to work against the appearance of financial responsibility. where exactly do you shop?
8. I am not made acutely aware that my shape, bearing, or body odor will be taken as a reflection on my race.

No, you'll just appear racist.

11. I can be late to a meeting without having the lateness reflect on my race.
I'm well aware of representing Irishness everywhere I am and that anything I do will reflect on Irish people... if you travel, you, as an American? will be judged as an American.
12. I can choose public accommodation with out fearing that people of my race cannot get in or will be mistreated.
There are laws against that.
13. I am never asked to speak for all of the people of my racial group.
And all black people are?
14. I can be pretty sure that if I ask to talk with the “person in charge” I will be facing a person of my race.
I'm pretty sure I'll be facing a man.
15. If a traffic cop pulls me over or if the IRS audits my tax return, I can be sure I haven’t been singled out because of my race.
Or on any other things... age, sex, type of car, etc.
16. I can easily by posters, postcards, picture books, greeting cards, dolls, toys, and children’s magazines featuring people of my race.
I'll give ya that one... but that's hardly something to be proud of lol.

so you're a beige colour?
18. I can do well in a challenging situation without being called a credit to my race.
well that's just patronising by any standard. You can also get a huge lump sum for that
19. I can walk into a classroom and know I will not be the only member of my race.
I couldn't if I were living in a predominantly black country.

And run my mouth? This is a place where I can say what ever the hell I want to say. Please. Nice try.

My American dream? I got to where I am because I work 14 hour days 8 months out of the year. And the other 4 I work normal 8to 10. Its called discipline. I work my ass off to have nice things.
And run my mouth? This is a place where I can say what ever the hell I want to say. I actually only know a few black suburban people but have grew up on the Atlantic City boardwalk dealing with people from the ghetto for more years then you could handle. You sir are the one who does not know jack shit. You think you understand whats happening in the ghetto because you watched "Boys in da hood" or beacause you read some book written by some black scholar?
Please. Nice try.
I understand that not everyone has breaks in life to take advantage of but that does not mean you have to accept that?
"WORK WILL SET YOU FREE". Bottom line is that America is the land of oppertunity and if you want something...go and fucking get it. Whats stopping you here? Nothing! Get a job, get two jobs. So what its in some deadend job. Work your way up or get experience and move on to a better on.
Your excuses are total bullshit. Sorry, I am not buying it. In other countries okay, but not here.

and in that reply i used Japan, Nigeria and Ethiopa... not the US.
no need to apologise.
Sweep the Leg Johnny.
Why are you so hellbent on finding out where everyone has lived.
I lived in the Spanish part of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Not a nice place. And while I lived there I worked down on Fulton St, downtown Brklyn.
I don't need to justify my opinions for you. lol
You really aren't understanding what I am saying. Do you know, without googling, what the Great Migration was? Google it.
And correct me if I am wrong, but don't you work in daddy's peanut store?
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

If you want there to be a United White College Fund... or White Entertainment Television station... or a Miss White America Pageant... then, you would have to turn over all power of the government, corporations, businesses, etc... to the black folk. Your televisions would overwhelmingly consist of shows like 'House of Payne' and your entertainment would be more like 'Night At The Apollo', every night.
Imagine being the minority and everything favors the black people.
...
Then, you can have your Miss White America Pageant. You'd like that trade off, wouldn't you?
Hail, Hail!!!
There is nothing that says a black man cannot run for office. There are lots of succesful professional black people out there too. Everything does not favor black people. To say turn over the government, corporations... is ridiculous they can run for office, be a ceo or business owner just as easy as a me.

Yes... but are they the norm?
Speak in general terms... compare the programming you see on television... the C.E.O.s of corporations... the people in government. Do you really believe it is 50/50?
I'm saying... put yourself in their shoes and then you can have all of the piddly bullshit White Pride Month crap without all the fucking whining.
Hail, Hail!!!
Thank you.
I'm just saying... if you're white... just be fucking GLAD you are fucking White and in power and NOT Black. And quit bitching because the Black people have one fucking Television station. Makes you look like dicks.
Hail, Hail!!!
Not bitching they have telvision shows the argument is if I decided to have an all white, tv show, store, whatever , that would be
considered racist.
Edit: i do not mean only white people shop in store either. THat would be racist

Yes... you're absolutely right.
This is NOT about Black people bitching... this is White people bitching about black people getting a little slice of the pie. Who cares if there's a Miss Black America Pageant? Crying about that is meaningless.
And like you said... wouldn't be about women complaining about the inequities between the genders.. it's more like if men were whining and crying because of the 'Lifetime' cable channel.
Hail, Hail!!!

And I own a business that I not only BOUGHT from my father, but I pay $50,000 A YEAR IN RENT for the space. Don't act like you know me and take cheap shots like that. I have worked my ass off to get to where I am and If you lived where I have in my earlier years you would crawl up into a ball and cry like a little bitch.
And the fact that I have never read that means what??? Nothing.

But... the gist of this message is NOT Black people complaining... it's White people complaining about dumb stuff, such as B.E.T. or Miss Black America.
I agree, most people should and DO, take the hand they are dealt with and go with it. I just think it's silly to believe the deck isn't stacked against some people (including women).
I think that White people should be fucking GRATEFUL that they aren't the ones who have to form a White Entertainment Television station or a Miss White America Beauty Pageant and quit worrying about it.
