And run my mouth? This is a place where I can say what ever the hell I want to say. I actually only know a few black suburban people but have grew up on the Atlantic City boardwalk dealing with people from the ghetto for more years then you could handle. You sir are the one who does not know jack shit. You think you understand whats happening in the ghetto because you watched "Boys in da hood" or beacause you read some book written by some black scholar?
Please. Nice try.
I understand that not everyone has breaks in life to take advantage of but that does not mean you have to accept that?
"WORK WILL SET YOU FREE". Bottom line is that America is the land of oppertunity and if you want something...go and fucking get it. Whats stopping you here? Nothing! Get a job, get two jobs. So what its in some deadend job. Work your way up or get experience and move on to a better on.
Your excuses are total bullshit. Sorry, I am not buying it. In other countries okay, but not here.
First of all, I didn't make "excuses." I gave you facts. The inner city education system is a pile of shit, to put it bluntly. That leads to students dropping out or receiving poor education, which makes it extremely difficult to get a decent job. Sure, theoretically you can work 65 hours at McDonalds and save that up. Some people do, and that's great. The problem lies in the fact that for many blacks in the inner city, that's their ONLY choice. White suburbanites have infinitely more options at their disposal... they receive better educations, have more money, live in safer areas, etc... which makes it that much easier to get successful.
It's not impossible for black people to break out of city life. But the odds are against them... it's exponentially more difficult for many blacks reach the same amount of success as whites. That's the truth. And that's what needs to be addressed in this country, not written off as some black people "whining."
Yes, I did take sociology courses on minority issues and read a bunch of books about it. My roommate last year was a black guy from inner city Philadelphia and I learned a lot from him. And his grades were terrible. But it wasn't that he didn't study or that he was lazy... he worked harder than I did. But his high school education was so shitty that it just didn't prepare him for college, and he's probably going to flunk out well before he graduates. He's not whining about it. He never blamed anything on race. He tries hard, but he doesn't do well because the system put him at a severe disadvantage. THAT is the American Dream for millions of other people. It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win0 -

Project? No. He was a born in a trailer.
And yes... there ARE white people born into housing projects... maybe close the same percentage of blacks born in the Hamptons.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

I would hire anyone who was right for the job. I could care less what color they were. That said.....here is what I have experienced. A person looking for a job from the, I don't know... the burbs comes in, they USUALLY dress for the job. Even if its for a cashier job they "dress for success" (I am sure you have heard this term). When a person from a bad part of town comes in for a job (in my experience now) they dont dress for the part, they are not prepared, and they have poor work history. Thats why they do not get hired.
You would be shocked at they type of people who come in for a job.

That may be so, but it's not because the people from the bad part of town are inherently lazy or stupid. It's that their environment makes them that way... they probably never received good education about how to dress well at an interview. Black Americans can have their own themed products or TV channels if they want to, why? ...because they have no identity of their own. Their heritage and culture was stripped away.
There's a great story written by Alice Walker called "Everyday Use" and it explains the conflicts within a black family between an older sister who want to embrace her African/Islam heritage and another who want to embrace their American heritage. The moral of the story is, it's hard to celebrate your culture without knowing anything about it because African culture is dissorted. ...and I'm pretty, tryin' to trace your African ancestry is as hard or even harder to trace as a Native American ancestry.
The rest of us* have a rich history behind our culture and heritage that we can celebrate or fall back on. *i.e. Irish-Americans, Italian-Americans, Japanese-Americans, ect...
The way I see it, it's more of a cultural identity reference for black Americans than it is a race issue. That's just my take on it.PJ- 04/29/2003.06/24,25,27,28,30/2008.10/27,28,30,31/2009

LeatherMandi wrote:it is complete bullshit that there is no Honky College Fund.. or any others for that matter. It is completely racists but since we are white, and forever ago other white people enslaved black people, it is okay and acceptable in our society. Black people not only have the same opportunities but MORE, and that IS RACISTS. My great grandma was a full blooded Indian but do i go around asking for a hand out because white man fucked up my shit too? No, i dont. Why? Because it was so long ago that its really irrelevant now. Everyone has access to the same public schools and jobs.
"Do you not understand that this is no different than say, I don't know, everyone's favorite St Patrick's day celebrations? A big green parade.
Or the Puerto Rican Day Parade or the Gay Rights march, etc.
They are celebrating their specific culture.
Why is this a bone of contention with you? Is it directly affecting you?"
I'll go ahead and comment on this. Why does it offend her? Probably for the same reason it offends me. If i started W.E.T, had a few months of the year deemed "White Heritage" month... if i had a Car place that would help young white Americans like myself afford a vehicle, i might as well be wearing a white sheet and burning crosses. It is complete bullshit. You cannot have your racist cake and eat it to and i'm so sick of black Americans being the reason why our cultures will never be able to walk and live in harmony. Black people are killing MLK's dream. I am sorry but that is the straight up truth. I live in Georgia and let me tell you something. There are WAY WAY WAY more racist black people here than white.By far. You can't call what we (white people) do segregation and the call what you are doing "Just celebrating your culture" Not only is it hypocritical but it keeps the stigma that we ALL have been trying to rid our self's of for decades.PJ- 04/29/2003.06/24,25,27,28,30/2008.10/27,28,30,31/2009

I also think the so-called black leaders such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson has severely tarnish the meaning of racism. And a lot of us(blacks, white, and other race) have really been misled by the term.
I remember Rutgers' women's basketball coach Vivian Stringer comparing Don Imus' inappropreiate description of her team to the Civil Rights movement, and thought it was a ridiculous claim.
What's really racist is when you outright consider "Arabs" and/or "Muslims" as some kind of second-class beings or a plague in our society. You're devaluing their status as equal to you.
Having a race themed-TV channel or products doesn't make you racist. The bottom line is, this kind of practice by blacks doesn't quality them as superior than whites, just make you more of separatist or selectionist. They're not trying to outdo you.PJ- 04/29/2003.06/24,25,27,28,30/2008.10/27,28,30,31/2009

and my point was (in agreement with your post) , if i moved to Kenya and became ' a minority ' would it be acceptable for me to start a Society for White Travellers group? or a White Persons Prisoner SUpport Group? after all i'd be in the minority... as this seems to be the argument.
if the awards show was "Music of African Origin" then that'd be cool... i could then start a "Music of Scottish Origin" awards show... but its called the Music of Black Origin awards, and so therefore can i start my Music Of White Origin awards then? no is the answer... it'd be called 'racist'...oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

have you noticed that the only culture attributed with a colour is Black Culture... every other culture is "Italian Culture, Japanese Culture, Scottish Culture, etc"
i wonder if Black people removed the Black before everything and used African then it might actually help in beating racism... Africa is the origin of the culture, the people, the music, etc, so why not just use that? this also goes with the whole prefix thing that America uses... in some weird attempt to clutch at their roots... Americans have a thing like African-Americans, Irish-Americans, Italian-Americans... why not just be 'Americans'? Irish-Americans arent really that as most likely they are 3rd or 4th generation... this clutching to a generational past thing is kinda weird as how far do you go back? I'm probably Norwegian-Scottish if i went back far enough... but Scottish is actually what I am.. it strips away any pre-conceived notions... imooh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

You accept that some people don't have the same chances and opportunities than others, that they received a substandard education...
I guess you just gave a perfect example of the disadvantages they face. Maybe they don't have the money to buy appropriate clothes and are looking for a job so that they can buy clothes. No work experience is a beautiful catch 22, one you can break by giving them a chance. They don't have any experience so they don't get the job, they'll never get experience if everyone reasons like you do.
If they're drunk, I'd say that's a good excuse not to hire them. But a stained shirt is not a problem, or rather it's a problem that can be fixed in so many easy ways...
These criteria you use only keep these guys where they are i.e. a shitty environment.
But I guess giving people a chance to achieve the "American dream" doesn't really fit into the American business strategy, which is focused on money and more money.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!
