Man, If I met you all in person you would try to burn me at the stake between my political views and my color views! LOL
    Again, you would try. ;)

No way, in fact you're the kind of person with your views I'd like to meet, a far more interesting meeting to me. Your views some of them are different than mine so I'd look forward to hearing more of them.

in acoustic guys defense I pick and choose my words very carefully in threads like this cos I know how easily people read between the words and the lines... (and that's even takin into account that I called a spade a spade :o ) but I think he's just treating it like every other thread where you say what you think and forget that people are gonna take every word at face value! There are issues on national AND local levels everywhere that SHOULD be discussed rather than letting them get into a big issue which, I believe, is more likely to make people racist.
I appreciate that but my concern here isn't that, if I pick apart his wording meticulously, I can find things that sound a bit racist to pin on him, it's that the blunt synopsis of a lot of the things he posts here, while not maliciously racist, and I genuinely don't think he is, are a bit ignorant. If you're going to post on a political board and you are prone to voicing contentious opinions, you have to expect some backlash. I'm not talking about the PC brigade trash-talking because of some gypsy thread he might have made a while back, I mean people who read the posts, disagree with him and then respond. They shouldn't have to hold their tongue in case someone else comes along and says "this happens every time, the PC brigade are here" :) That's not directed at you by the way. Even though we seem to differ in our opinions a lot of the time, I don't recall ever finding anything you've ever said offensive or ignorant. Just different to my own opinions :)

I mean, I do, but where has someone wanted to start an awards show just for white people?

And by level playing field I mean wma is going to get the job before bma or even wfa 9x out of 10.
And thinking that is wrong, is denial.
You are wrong. IE... To be a Fireman in Atlantic City is Awesome. You work part time and get full time pay. Many guys try to be one. Well the NAACP thought their were not enough black men being hired so they made a fuss about it. Well. After an investigation, they saw that they were not hired because they did not do well in the tests. Their is a written test, a physical and a phychological one. They scored the worst on all of them. So the NAACP thought we should make the test easier. Finally after many complaints they said fine and made it easier. Well guess what happened? They STILL did not pass and they made a bigger fuss.
Total bullshit. So a white guy trains harder and studies harder to pass and its racist? Bullshit. Total bullshit.

Well, if all the instruments that comprise an orchestra were designed and developed by black men d'you think old whitey'd get away with saying it was music of white origin? Hmmm...

From what I've seen of the MOBO's over the years it's more like a celebration of black american youth culture with some mundane 'urban' stuff thrown in.

Do they have the "white mans channel" in Nigeria? nope, didnt thinks so.

where is the White Persons In Japan Support Group next meeting? there isnt one? weird... surely a white man in Japan is a minority?

would it be insensitive if i moved to Ethiopia and start my White People Fatfighters Group? ;)

The thing is, there are significant social and economic disadvantages for black people here in the US. If the same kind of disadvantages existed for white people in other countries, there would be plenty of white support groups there too.

There is a big difference between your moving to Ethiopia and a race of people uplifted from their home and herded onto ships like animals before being displaced here.

I'm pretty sure that doesnt happen these days... i think black immigrants these days come through choice.. and African-Americans are more American than African if they have been here since the slave days.

this happened 300 years ago... which was when english landowners were stripping scottish farmers of their land and forcing them to starve to death... i feel we have got over it... perhaps its time for a great americanism and have 'closure' on the whole slavery thing?

    Employing minorities
Have you got what it takes to be a firefighter?

Come and find out for yourself.

You might be surprised at the qualities we look for in a firefighter.

Do you like working in your Community, listening and educating people? These days preventing fires is just as important as fighting them….

If you’re the person we’re looking for you’ll be earning over £26,000 once you have qualified, and have excellent career prospects.

We would particularly like to invite women and people from ethnic minority groups to join us.

Dumfries and Galloway Fire and Rescue Service is an Equal Opportunities employer. This means we are active in redressing the current imbalance of our workforce to reflect the communities we serve

This is a job advert from my local council.. i think i have seen approx 8 black people in my entire life (in my local area). Black people just dont live in rural Scotland.

so with this type of positive discrimination, if i went for a job along with 13 other white guys and 1 black guy... and there were 3 jobs on offer... the black guy would get a job... regardless of the other qualities of the remaining candidates.

thats pretty crap... what ever happened to best man/woman for the job? his skin colour shouldnt even come into the equation...

Slavery 'ended' in the US around 1865. That was about 145 years ago. The great grandchildren of slaves are alive in this country.

I am not racist woman. I have a reason to feel the way I do but its not racist.
I agree they learn from their elders and they need to understand where they came from. But, The people today who were NEVER slaves act like they are owed something for what they have been through. They have not been through shit! They have only been given everything. We bend over backwards for the minorities and yet they want more and call out racisism every chance they get.

I can't believe a thread about MOBO awards turned into this, but anyhoots...

The only minority we bend over backwards for is the 10% of the population who owns about 90% of all the wealth.

We had our very own apartheid, here in America.
Blacks were forced to live in ghettos. They were segregated and alienated by the country they were a part of.
The happened in this century and is continued today.
Read about the Great Migration and you will learn how blacks were treated post civil war, up here in the great North where we fought for their supposed freedom. We denied them services, access to markets and refused mortgages where in many cases they had the money.
I don't think you are a racist. I never said that. Never having met you, I don't find it in my best interest to judge you.
I don't know if you want to or even like plays. But if you come across some of the work of August Wilson, particularly a play called Fences, you will find what it was like to live in a ghetto.

oops....meant last century. :o my how time flies. :o

oh are we only talking about American black people now? how unamerican of me to forget that of course this discussion, which i started off by using the MOBO's, a british prisoners group and a black only British political voting group, would of course turn to America. :p

Scotland abolished slavery in 1807... 200 years ago.. forgive my error... still a long time ago and as far back as 1777 Scotland had a famous case in which a black man was given his freedom as slavery was not recognised under Scots Law.
